• Musicians start many trends

• The styles and brands that we see artists wear influence what we think and wear.

• Two popular fashion trends are emo/scene and gangster
• Past influences include New Kids on the Block, Britney Spears, Black Sabbath, and Motley Crue

• Rap songs and music videos degrade women or promote drugs and violence
• People stereotype all rappers as bad or morally deficient people.

• Country songs are often sappy or mention alcohol
• a stereotype exists for “rednecks” due to country music’s content

• Punk rock is one of the most discriminated against sub-cultures
• older generations find some of the lyrics disrespectful and assume listeners are “rebels”
