CONQUERING YOUR CONFIDENCE
KILLERS

To Become a Confident Person:
You must eradicate your confidence killers.
Confidence killers are self-defeating thought
patterns.
Many people believe in these harmful
suppositions, and stay stuck.
Here is a short list. See if you can identify with
any of them:

Confidence Killer 1: All or nothing at all…
Are you an “All for Nothing” sniper?
Do you never seem to enjoy even the smallest
victories you have achieved in life.
You think of yourself as someone who is a complete
failure if you have failed to achieve perfection.
If you stop being so hard to yourself, you may
become a confident person.

Confidence Killer 2: Doom and
Gloom Do you think there is always a disaster
waiting for you.
Do not let the Dark Clouds of
Destruction make you think this way.
Believe in yourself and move forward.

Confidence Killer 3: Negative
Magnification This one makes you believe that if this is something good
that happens, it doesn’t really count.
For instance, you have won eight contests, but you failed
to achieve success in the ninth one.
You concentrate on the loss only, rather than any
success, and your confidence flags.
Doing it the other way around makes your confidence
soar!

Confidence Killer 4: Ruled by the Negative Emotion Committee You are bound to the thought that if you
can feel it, then it must be so.
This blocks the clear thinking parts of your
brain.
What you feel, or more importantly,
convince yourself that you feel is not
always the truth.

Confidence Killer 4: Ruled by the Negative Emotion Committee No one can be perfect all the time.
Everyone has days when they are not able
to perform perfectly.
Do not let your emotions over-run your life.
Be confident that there is always tomorrow,
or some other day, and perhaps it will be
better.

Confidence Killer 5: Should Imprisonment
Perfectionists are caught in a trap of ‘should statements’.
Remember that ‘should statements’ are related to what,
according to you, is expected by other people from you and
not what you really want.
For example, if someone makes a statement that everyone
should have a higher education. Then people who do not
have a college degree might fret at this thought and think
that there is something wrong with them.

Confidence Killer 6: Liability Labeling
Do not label yourself a loser.
Never say that you are a loser or everything
went wrong because of you.
If you insist on labeling yourself, then better
label yourself as a confident person.
Throw away this, and all other, libelous
labeler attitude.

Confidence Killer 7: Complimentary Constriction
Never be a constrict compliment.
This behavior never allows you to
accept compliments.
It will instead make you feel unworthy, or
worse, a fraud.

Self-knowledge is Key
If you are able to see your own confidence
killers in this short list, then half of the battle is
already won.
The next step is to re-train yourself to battle
these foes whenever they show up so that you
can conquer your confidence-killing thoughts
and abandon your confidence-killing actions.
