Next WeekItem Task

1. Watch the Module 1 – Listen to Engage video provided at professorbrey.com

2. Establish a freely shared, open to the public accounts using the following sites: Facebook (do this first), Twitter, Slideshare, YouTube and LinkedIn. The key is to start with Facebook & Twitter and then integrate them with the remaining channels (link them all to either). Remember: keep your professional brand in mind when creating these sites.

3. Once these are established, you need to become a Facebook fan of ProfessorBrey and follow me on Twitter @ProfessorBrey. I will also reciprocate and become your Facebook friend and Twitter follower. You can also be a fan with your personal Facebook account as well – this is where class announcements will be posted – and I will not reciprocate there.

4. Using Wordpress.com, establish your personal site that will be ‘your face’ in the virtual world (you can use the free sites or can spend $17 to have yourname.com). You can simply establish your site using the standard format but I would encourage you to choose a template that you can work with throughout the semester (remember your semester long personal branding project).

5. Read through the links that have been provided on writing effective blogs. Remember, posting words that just make sense do not make an interesting blog. You are required to follow the suggestions in all of your blog posts.

6. Figure out how to inform me/world that you have posted to your blog. DO NOT EMAIL ME – THIS IS YOUR FIRST FORAY INTO SOCIAL MEDIA INTEGRATION

7. You are to write your first blog post on your newly established Wordpress site. The topic is to be: what does social media mean to me? A standard question, but simple and it will allow you to apply what you have read about blog posts.
