Working at a local engineering firm in his hometown of Tampa, Florida in the United States, Shane Lowney has been a mechanical engineer for 10 years. Lowney is married to Christine, who he met when he was attending school at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida. Shane Lowney Interest in Aviation Sparked at FIT

Shane Lowney holds his pilot’s license and flies a Cessna 182 frequently. Lowney’s passion for aviation may have been sparked by his enrollment at Florida Institute of Technology, one of the few universities which offer an aviation degree. 75 miles from Orlando, Florida Tech was founded as Brevard Engineering College in 1958. The student body on campus in 2013 numbered 4, 633, equally divided between graduate and undergraduate students focusing primarily on engineering and the sciences.

Shane Lowney Licensed Pilot

Shane Lowney enrolled in The Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida of the United States to study engineering. FIT is also one of only a few universities to offer an aviation degree, which no doubt influenced Lowney’s interest in getting a pilot’s license and enjoying flying today in his Cessna 182. Lowney graduated from Florida Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and works today out of Tampa, Florida for a local engineering firm.

As a mechanical engineer Shane Lowney applies principles of engineering, physics and materials science in his work of analyzing, designing, manufacturing and maintaining different types of mechanical systems. The oldest and most practical of engineering applications, Lowney’s chosen profession of mechanical engineering concerns itself with the operation of machinery in its broadest form. Shane Lowney learned the core concepts of engineering while studying at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida in the United States.
