How Graphic Designers Can Create Captivating Book Covers?

The key to a successful book cover design is knowing what will work, and what won’t.

It is true that the wrapping of a novel or a short

story collection helps in its promotion. In simpler words, it acts as an effective promotional tool.

Graphic designers who create amazing covers bewilder audience with their artistic prowess. Designing for a fast paced mystery, an adventure thriller or a romantic novel is not child’s play and

requires sound knowledge of commercial art.

Colors, graphics, texts and images need to be used with precision and meticulousness.

Focus on the Theme

Be it fiction or non-fiction, it centers around a concept or theme and the binding should aptly describe that concept. Yes, it is the binding that attracts a reader’s attention to a fictional piece or otherwise. Do

not make the mistake of cramming the front page with too many components, illustrations and images.

A professional should think of the book like a billboard that tries to attract the attention of the people passing by. Keep in mind the following aspects before you start working:

The theme and the subject

The genre

An idea of the style or tone of the published document. The above pointers would help one to come up

with creative ideas. Are you designing for a thriller? Or is it a historical account or biography? The answers to these questions will help a graphic artist in producing quality output.

How Will It Look on Web Sites?

The book should also look equally impressive on web pages. Therefore, consider the design aspects carefully so that it also impresses the online audience.

Photos that Explain

There is no need to be too real while working on the cover. Look for visuals that communicate the

overall tone, style and mood of an omnibus. Pictures included should connect well with the context. The type of images you choose also depends on the subject. If it is on a spiritual topic or related to self-help, then visuals of nature would be relevant.

On the other hand, a treatise on history should have historical illustrations and pictures. Author photographs should be avoided if the writer is not a renowned and celebrated personality.

The Title Should be in Large Font

Besides the color, images and graphics, it is the title of the novel that grabs instant attention. Therefore, it should be created using large and noticeable fonts. You can also add some special effects to the letters like like embossing to enhance the visual appeal.

Page 6: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 6/159

Matching Artwork

The artwork that you create should match with the theme and content of the text. Consider the murder mysteries of Agatha Christie. She was not an author who emphasized on the gory details. Her works are more related to the complexities of the characters and plot. However, several publishers focused more on showing blood oozing out of human mouth or knitting needles protruding from human heads.

Such depictions might create sensation, but will disappoint readers who enjoy reading about intricate plots. They will stay away as the cover creates a wrong impression that the book includes excessive

gruesome details.

Finding the Right Keywords as an SEO Specialist Finding the right keywords to bring in qualified traffic into a site has always been a challenge for a company.

In fact, regular SEO’s often find themselves spending more time in the initial research stage of

a campaign than the actual implementation.

It’s imperative to spend at least a few days finding out what the client and their customers want before jumping into optimization.

And in most cases, you’re going to find most clients

will have no idea what keywords they want to target. It’s our (SEO’s) job to help them decide the

best solution that will fit the client and their users.

Meetings with Your Client

More often than not SEO’s are up front and personal. In some cases they are shy and introverted.

You’ll have to get your point across without sounding like a know it all that wants to change a client’s

whole business plan.

They’ve worked all their lives in the respective field they’re in so your best bet is to transition your ideas rather than push it on them. Here are a few question might want to ask your clients:

Tell me about your company and how you’re different from others in your field.

Who is your primary target audience?

What are your short and long term goals?

Can you come up with 20 primary and secondary keywords you think your users will search for?

Have you checked your analytics or is it even installed on your site?

What have you done so far in terms of optimization?

Who are your main competitors?

I am sure you have more questions and they come up in the meeting so be prepared.

Initial Keyword Research

You ready? Here are the tools I use to get a detailed report for my clients and myself:

SEOMoz

1. Competitive analysis

a. Keyword difficulty

b. Google keyword tool

2. Google traffic estimator

3. Google/Bing webmaster tools

With these tools you’ll get an amazing understanding of your client without spending countless hours trying to figure what they do or what their users are like.

Page 8: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 8/159

Google/Bing Webmaster Tools

Every search engine optimization specialist has his or her own starting point. I believe starting at the roots is the guideline to a successful online marketing campaign.

With Google/Bing webmaster tools you can get extremely valuable information quickly. If you’re lucky your client will have both tracking codes on their site.

In some cases, even if they don’t have it installed Google might have this information for you immediately (I’ve seen it happen with some clients).

Here are a couple of places to check before you get started:

1. Check the number of impressions and clicks the site has

2. Check the number of links (good and bad) the site is linked from

3. Look at crawl errors and stats

4. Do they have a sitemap submitted to Google?

5. Check index status

Bing will also have something similar and you should definitely check that as well because we all know

by now that Bing and Yahoo share an index for search results now.

Google Keyword/Traffic Estimator Tool

Google also has two tools that you should definitely consider using on every SEO campaign to get a better understanding of traffic for a particular keyword/keywords.

With the keyword tool an SEO can get an estimated traffic number with suggestions as well. Simply click on the “Ad group ideas (Beta)” and you’ll get an amazing list to start off of even if your client has

no idea what keywords they want to target.

Page 9: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 9/159

Traffic estimator is similar since you get traffic numbers based on Google’s Adwords system. These numbers are for clicks you would pay for through the PPC (pay per click/impression) program Google offers.

SEOMoz

Now we get to the best part. SEOMoz is a professional tool and it does cost a monthly fee. However, you get more detailed and precise information to get started on your project. If you set up a campaign

(5 campaigns with the pro package at $99/month) you get:

• Weekly crawl and rank checking • On-page optimization recommendation • A look at what your competitors are up to • Site explorer

• Keyword difficulty

And many more tools to get you ahead of the game.

I would have to write several articles on how each tool can help you but let’s focus on the keyword difficulty tool. Once you enter your keywords, select a search engine and region; you will get the most detailed keyword research analysis out there. Here is a list of findings you’ll get from this tool:

• Keyword difficulty score • Top 10 ranking pages for SEO • Google AdWords broad/exact match

You can then export the report and present it to your clients.

There You Have It

This is, in my opinion a good way to start a project without losing your mind or your client. I would

love to hear what you think and the process you go through to start any Internet marketing campaign.

What Should Be Your Corporate Twitter? In our time of highly Internet technology even a small entrepreneur is committed to representing their business on the internet. The presence of a corporate site is out of the question – which organizations doesn’t have

its own corporate site?

But now we need not just a presence on the Internet ― it is important to have the direct communication with your customers, prompt reaction on all social unrest of your target audience and improving the image of your business in such a

broad and multi-faceted Internet environment.

To help in this matter come social networks that set the pace of modern social life. Proper use of social networks can significantly increase sales, increase brand awareness and monitoring of consumer desires.

About advantages and necessity of representing your brand in social networks there has been said

and written many articles and books, but still not many companies know how to use this tool to its full potential.

This article focuses on the use of social marketing tool such as Twitter.

Twitter is a relatively new tool for presenting your brand in the world of social networks, but has already gained its popularity and the number of advantages in comparison with others. It allows you to

keep in touch with your followers, quickly inform them about all the new items from your business,

and respond quickly to their needs and desires.

Briefly speaking, Twitter can be a useful addition to any marketing campaign.

Suppose you convinced the corporate account that the company needs a corporate Twitter. What’s next? Consider the major issues that arise in front a businessman and about what you should think about before you make the first steps.

On whose behalf are you tweeting?

In this regard there are two possible solutions.

On the one hand, you can keep your account on behalf of a brand or a company and name it accordingly to them. On the other hand, you can keep your account on behalf of a private person, which is directly related to your company.

Which way to choose depends on the specifics of your business and the goals you want to achieve through the corporate account on Twitter?

If you represent a large international brand than brands official account can help solve such problems

as the creation of visual contact between logo and brand name. It will also help you to create your “army” of loyal followers, and always refer to them at the right time for the reporting of sales and events.

If you have a local or small business and your company name is not widely known you can create accounts of a private person and contact with your followers on a more informal level, but by the way informing and reminding about your company in the form such as “Today ate sushi. And by the way, in

our food delivery store we have new proposition – the second set – for free.”

Page 11: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 11/159

Avatar

Choose the right picture is a very important mission because of this picture your account will be recognized in the social network.

If this is the official account of the company or brand – the picture should be recognizable, clear, concise and vivid. Users should immediately recognize you in their news feed.

If you decide to keep your account on behalf of an individual then as an avatar you must use a real photo. Users are much more loyal to the real people and will be more likely comment on and retweet

your posts.

Communication Style

The style of your communication with your followers, again, depends on the specifics of your business.

But don’t forget that Twitter is a social network so it doesn’t like the official and grave style.

The most important thing – be friendly and interesting, do not post dry information or frank advertising because you can lose your followers.

The frequency of tweets

There is no specific number of tweets per day – it depends on the content. The main thing – they must be regular. Also you must mention that people often visit Twitter in the morning before work and in the evening after work.

Alternate advertising, news and personal tweets. You can create a schematic release schedule, for example: morning – news, day – advertising, in the evening – an interesting story from the life or

some observation. The main rule – be interesting.

There are main advices before creating a corporate account in Twitter. All the rest come with

experience and practice.

Facebook Marketing – Five tips for better sales conversions on Facebook

In a way, Facebook Marketing is just like traditional sales, it’s about building relationships.

But where it differs is where the real sales conversions start – forget everything you know about the competition, forget everything you know about sales and forget everything you know about your market – you need to redefine it all and then watch the sales conversions start pouring in.

Social Media Marketing is about working that virtual

room in a collaborative, personal and non-selly way.

Not all Facebook Likes are Created Equal

There are different kinds of likers on every Facebook page. Most are fairly valuable; a few are worth their weight in gold.

Identifying the type of liker and using each liker to further your sales conversions is the best way to create direct sales.

Tip 1: Bums on seats Facebook Likers

These are the likes you get from “like exchanges”, “like ladders”, “Facebook marches”, “promote pages”

and other networking pages designed to help startups.

You swap likes with a bunch of other Facebook noobs and 95% of them hide your statuses before you make your first post. They’re good because they make up the numbers a take away that “new page

cringe”.

True or not, the perception of a new Facebook page will be that you don’t know what you’re doing, so you’ll post too much, sell too hard, and generally clog news feeds with rubbish. Bums on seats likers remove that fear.

Tip 2: How to Get the Most from Chatty Cathys

A Chatty Cathy won’t buy anything from you. They’re your high school friends, your mom, people in

your network, complimentary businesses and Facebook likers who just enjoy hanging out on your page. They are extremely valuable if you play your cards right.

Chatty Cathys make EXCELLENT brand ambassadors – especially those who are just Facebook addicts who sit on Facebook all day chatting on pages – these are worth their weight in gold. How? Well, you need to cultivate the relationship, get them talking about themselves, about Facebook, about their friends – in short, become one of their friends.

While selling on Facebook is not the way to go, you should make these likers aware of why your brand

is superior to competitors. When they leave your page, they go chat on other pages, like minded pages, “Find it on Facebook” leads pages, their networks, their mommy groups and their clubs.

They are the ears and mouths of your business and there is no sales pitch like a trusted word of mouth sales pitch. When a sales opportunity arises, your Chatty Cathys start chatting about you – delivering nice, primed, ready-to-buy Money Likers to your page.

Page 13: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 13/159

Tip 3: How to Treat Money Likers

These are shoppers or buyers that like your page because they are planning to buy or ready to buy your product. These are GOLD – and rare.

This is not the norm for Facebook – if 10% of your likers are Money Likers, you’re doing well! These arrive at the recommendation of Chatty Cathys, via Google, via Facebook searches or via your interaction on other pages in your network.

To be sure you get the very most out of a Money Liker, set your landing tab to your photo tab filled

with beautiful, enticing, well labeled photos (if you have a visual product) or a custom landing tab with an incentive to like and a link to your website.

Ensure that your info page is filled with branded messages about why you’re the one to buy from and that they get a nice warm welcome and make it easy-peasy for them to hand over their moola.

Tip 4: Facebook Networking – Where the Money is REALLY at

This is where Social Networking comes in, not social media marketing. Social Networking is where the

money actually comes from. Social networking is about being warm and fuzzy, it’s about interacting and chatting and commenting and liking and contributing to complimentary business pages. (If it doesn’t sound like you, don’t do it, hire someone or get the 19 year old on reception to handle it – she’ll probably be great!)

Choose some nice, talented, professional networking candidates, preferably with a more established page than your own and start working the Facebook room.

Everyone wants great Edgerank and a happy, interactive social page – so businesses that offer services

or products that are complimentary but not in competition to your own will appreciate your 2 cents on their wall.

They’ll appreciate your comments, your interaction and even “shout outs” from your page. Build a nice

strong network, shout out regularly, do joint giveaways and competitions, celebrate their victories on your wall, tell your likes about their new products and watch them reciprocate.

Once you build the friendship up, something amazing will happen, you’ll start to see referral business.

This is where the money is really at. Let’s say you are a web designer. You network with graphic designers, copywriters, programmers, shopping cart designers etc.

When your graphic designer’s client needs a website, it’s you who gets the work. When you need a copywriter for a client, you’ve got one ready to go – and when your copywriter needs a web designer for her client, she’s got you.

Tip 5: Make It Easy

Make it simple for people to spread the word, interact with you and buy from you.

Add your website link to your company information box in the info tab so when your page is shared,

there’s a link to your website.

Make Facebook part of your Website Marketing plan

Add Social Media buttons to your website, email, guest blogs and other internet and real world interactions.

Label your products clearly and with individual names or numbers so it’s easy for likers to order.

If postage costs apply, label products with domestic and international rates.

Have trust building guarantees and a recommendations tab.

Watch lead generating pages like Find It pages like a hawk.

Run competitions and cross promotions and give valuable prizes

Have a contact tab and reply promptly if there are complaints or inquiries

Page 14: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 14/159

They say that Facebook has low conversion rates but I say,” they” are the ones still using tired old traditional sales methods in a new media environment. Getting great conversions from your Facebook Marketing is about working that virtual room in a collaborative and friendly way. How very pleasant new media can be!

The Importance of Usability When Building a Website

If you are building a website, whether it will be used to provide information for a particular audience or advertise and/or sell particular

products and/or services, or indeed for both of those purposes, then it is crucial that the website is created in a way that makes it useable for many different people.

This means ensuring that the website can be easily accessed through many different devices and web

browsers. The importance of usability to a website

can often be underestimated, but will be explained further throughout this article.

There is a need for speed

It is important, for example, that a website can be loaded quickly through many different devices and web browsers. This is because, should someone

find that a website does not load quickly, they are likely to lose patience with that website and instead

try loading a different one. This can obviously cost the owner of the slow-loading website valuable hits and/or sales, and so can prove a surprisingly crucial factor in the success of that website. You should particularly consider that the average website user will not wait longer than 6-7 seconds for a page to load; hence, there is little point in having a high quality website if it cannot be loaded sufficiently

promptly.

For this reason, you should try your best to avoid having any files, like images, on your website which are large in size and therefore may take a long time to load. While you might be tempted, for example, to use elaborate background images which will make your website look prettier, you need to consider that not everyone who attempts to access your website will have a very fast computer or Internet connection which can help them to load such images quickly. Furthermore, many people who have high speed Internet will expect website pages to load almost instantly; hence, you should endeavor to

optimize all of your website files to have the smallest possible size without sacrificing their quality.

Keep things simple to make things easy

Furthermore, once visitors have successfully loaded a website, it is crucial that they are not left confused about what the website has to offer. You should remember that your website design should ideally cater equally for both people seeking brief information and people seeking more detailed

information, and that any confusion experienced by any of these people could tempt them into

abandoning the website to peruse another one. What you actually want to lead these people to do is use your website to quickly find the information that they want and then take a positive action – whether that involves taking up advice detailed on your website or purchasing any products and/or services that your website advertises.

Hence, when developing a website it is crucial to consider how it will be navigated by its visitors. For all visitors, but especially first time visitors, you should endeavor to make navigation straightforward and

consistent. Make sure that no part of the website is any further than three clicks away. Though there are many different advanced ways in which you can design a website, there is little point in drawing on many of these if they render the website difficult to use. Ultimately, you would be better off sticking to a simple website design if it makes the website easier to use, as this should also make it more successful.

Page 16: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 16/159

It is also important to keep the website’s structure simple. The extent to which you achieve this will largely define how easy the website is to navigate, which can make or break its appeal among inexperienced and impatient web surfers. Even if your website has a hundred pages, there are still ways in which you can maintain the simplicity of its structure – for example, through using expandable tree menus that clearly show where in the network of the website’s pages the user currently is and what pages the user has already viewed and clicked through.

The importance of uniformity

You should consider that many Internet users have become accustomed to very particular designs in the websites that they visit. Hence, it would be wise to adhere to one of these designs for your own website in order to discourage confusion in its visitors. Staples of many website designs include the logo of the organization which owns the website in the top left corner of every page, which often incorporates a link back to the website’s home page; a navigation bar in the same part of each page;

links in the footer to pages dedicated to the website’s privacy policy and terms of use; and an ‘About

us’ section or page which reveals more about the organization which owns the website.

Furthermore, whatever design is chosen for the website, it should remain consistent throughout all of that website’s pages. This should help to discourage confusion in the website’s visitors and could also extend even to error pages. These pages are the type which typically appears when a broken or invalid link is clicked, and any error pages you create should include information on what may have led to the error. However, bug prevention is always better than cure concerning the usability of a website. Indeed, if visitors to your website routinely experience a significant number of bugs, this is likely to damage

your website’s reputation over time.

The importance of website usability in a nutshell

What you ultimately want to provide with a website is a pleasant experience for visitors which makes it easy for them to promptly find precisely what they are looking for. This is crucial for the success of

your website, as it will help it attract an increasing number of visitors and, if you are using the website

to advertise or sell particular products and/or services, encourage higher sales of those products and/or services. As word of mouth spreads about the high quality of your website, the website’s visitor numbers and hence success should further increase.

7 Ways to Get More Out Of Twitter Every online marketer out there has heard of Twitter. Twitter is great for marketing but it takes a little while to understand. But if you get the hang of it, Twitter can do miracles for your marketing and help spread the word like

no other.

Here are some of the ways you can get more out of Twitter.

1. Tweet Constantly – If you want to people to follow you and you want a larger audience, you want to always stay in their mind. If you stop

tweeting people will unfollow you. The trick is to

tweet the right amount without over tweeting and annoying your followers into unfollowing. Start with a few tweets a day and make changes accordingly.

2. Tweet Consistently – Make sure that you do not tweet 10 times in the morning and don’t tweet at all for the rest of the day. You want to spread out your tweets and the best way to do that is by

using BufferApp.com. You can tweet whenever you want to and it will save them and tweet them throughout the day.

3. Get Ideas – Use the Twitter to get ideas on what you want to blog about. Let’s be honest, if you are a blogger, one of your biggest problems is that you constantly run out of ideas to blog about. Follow people in your niche and see what these people are having problems with. Chances are if one person has a problem, then other people do as well. Write a blog post that solves that problem.

4. Use Social media Monitoring Tools. Use them. Getting the top social media monitoring tools like Hoot Suite can help save a lot of time and make your Twitter campaigns more efficient. You will be able to gather a lot more data and have a lot more control.

5. Building relationships. Twitter is great for outreach. Tweet at someone and chances are they will respond. Just make sure it isn’t someone who is very famous. They probably don’t have the time to respond to everyone. Go for mid ranged bloggers and you can easily get guest post opportunities, etc.

6. Be unique. There are a lot of Twitter accounts out there and it is generally better if you stand out.

You can get a lot more followers if your account is unique. Do not stick to the basic background. Make a custom one or one that sticks out from the rest. The same should apply to your avatar. When people are looking through tweets, the thing that catches their eye the most is your avatar. Try different avatars and see which picture of you is getting the best results.

7. Monitor your brand. Use Twitter to see what people are saying about your blog or business. This is a great way to get an understanding of how people feel about you/your site. You can do this

manually or use one of the many tools out there that gather all tweets that have to do with a particular

topic.

5 Modern SEO Practices for Online Entrepreneurs Keyword Content for People If you’re trying to think of keyword content, don’t use keywords that you would think might be the most efficient or well rounded. Use keywords that you could actually see real people using.

Think about when it would be most logical for your website to come up in search results and what the search entry would be. If your website is a large dry cleaning chain, then a search term might be, “Where to get clothes dry cleaned near”.

At the end of that particular term, there would

probably be a location indicator such as zip code or

city. This example works for service related websites, but if your website offers something else, then the keyword content would be different.

The idea here is that you need to anticipate the search term and incorporate it effectively into your content.

Local SEO In many different search terms, even the ones that don’t necessarily indicate a location, local results will be used. Having an entry on Google Places is one of the best ways to make sure that your business is getting exposure from local searches.

After you are listed on Google Places, you should make sure that your website’s business information is

correct on both your web page and on Google Pages.

This means that you should have consistent information. For example if your business is on 73rd street, but you abbreviated street as St. In your Google Places entry, make sure that you abbreviate the address on your website as well.

Unique Content It cannot be stated enough how important having unique and original content is for your website.

It is the best way to ensure that after a website has its high page rank it maintains it. Google is smart,

if you do manage to achieve a high page by recycling the same content or using an article spinner, Google will find out.

After Google finds out they will penalize your website and make sure that it cannot achieve a high page rank. Google may even remove your website from their results.

It may take longer and may be harder to achieve overall, but the best way to get a high page rank and keep it is with unique high quality content.

Create New Content Frequently The internet is constantly changing and new things always appear. Having fresh new content frequently added to your site is not only important for increasing your page rank but also maintaining it.

Remember that when you make new content that it is unique and original. Don’t rewrite the same thing over and over again. All of the best SEO practices are geared towards helping users.

So before you publish a new piece of content ask yourself, “Will this content help or serve people in

some way?”

Website Monitoring Tools By using Google Webmaster Tools you are able to view any communications that Google attempts to have with your website.

The tools will allow you to figure out how many links are coming to your website from outside sources and the keywords that are most relevant when searching for your site.

Printing Mistakes you should avoid in Small Business

You have spent a lot of time with the designers and finally have a great design with matching artwork. Now it’s time for the

printing press to finish off the job.

Most of the time, the job will be done perfectly. But sometimes, a few things can go wrong, leading to printing mistakes that you should avoid in small business.

Here are some of the biggest printing mistakes that

small businesses do:

Tiny Font with a Dark Background

Beware of tiny fonts when printing on a dark background. Go for a big font if you prefer a dark background. If you prefer a small font, go for a bright background.

Colors That Contrast Poorly

Some colors give disastrous results when used together. Avoid colors that won’t give good contrast

such as yellow, magenta and cyan.

Spelling Mistakes

Spelling mistakes can easily get into print if you don’t proofread carefully. If you feel challenged to proofread, get a competent person to proofread the material before printing. Repeat this process whenever changes are made on the material.

It is better to spend time and some money ahead of printing than to have the material printed and then realize that it needs corrections. The loss can be substantial and if you don’t carry it out, the results would be printed materials that don’t work as effectively as they should.

Overcrowded Print

Parts of the design can be chopped off if the design is overcrowded. To avoid parts of the design

getting out of the print area, go for quiet borders. This is a design in which borders are not defined by color or lines. Quiet borders are defined by the space left around the printed area. The result is a professional looking print that is inviting to the audience.

Low Resolution Images

Using low resolution images leads to poor printed materials that look cheap and amateurish. Always ensure that the resolution of images meant for printing purposes is at least 300 pixels (ppi).

Not Getting a Hard Copy for Proofing Purposes

When you have proofed the design on the screen, you might assume it will be the same when printed.

Page 25: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 25/159

However, proofing on screen is not adequate for materials meant for printing. Get a hardcopy of the material. The hard copy will give you a good idea of what the final print will look like. Proofing a sample copy helps you to have a complete picture of your product. This includes the overall design and copy.

Poor Quality of Paper

The paper quality used may not be good enough. Insist on proofreading hard copy printed on the exact

paper that will be used. This will help you make the best decision about paper quality.

Too Many Font Types

A print can have too many fonts. This can easily be a turn off for your audience. It is best to go for one

or two fonts for any print.

Wrong Contact Information

Incorrect contact information can easily get into the final printed material. This can happen when proofreading is not done. The results would be disastrous. Always be keen about the contact information. Remember that the printed material should get customers to contact you.

It helps to look out for these printing mistakes in order to get rid of them. Are there other printing mistakes you should avoid in small business?

SEO the Porter Way Do you know Porter’s 5 forces analysis? It was developed by Michael E. Porter of Harvard Business School in 1979.

Everybody who has read or studying marketing ever since, knows about this analysis and has been

reading about it. Most of the marketing people are also using it to determine the competitive intensity and the attractiveness of a market.

I have been studying marketing too – so I love it too.

But did you know you can use this model to describe the competition of a keyword?

With this model you can get insight into how competitive the current environment is for a keyword? And how strong the rivalry and intensity is for a keyword?

And maybe the most important knowledge we will get from this is, that we can’t control everything when we do SEO.

So if your boss asks you – When will the “coffee” keyword rank number 1 – you might tell him or her about the uncontrollable forces.

So let us check out Porters’ 5 forces model for the keyword “coffee”.

So are you ready for some Porter?

New entrants in the coffee keyword market

A new coffee seller might show up on the internet. They also know about SEO, and they sure want a good ranking on keyword market for coffee. This is really a new entrant.

You might also have had a competitor who never really has done anything regarding SEO for many years and suddenly they have hired an SEO guy

(maybe me). So this competitor is also new to the keyword market for coffee.

Another company has been selling coffee for years

and has done SEO for years but suddenly they have doublet their budget for the SEO. So they also want a ranking (or higher ranking) for the “coffee” keyword.

This analysis is about the keyword market for coffee.

To start a business on the internet is really simple – also for business selling coffee. So you will have to set up some barriers to make it more difficult for your competitors to outrank you.

So of course you will have to optimize your own content for the word coffee. Another great way is to try to optimize your site for more unique, uncommon and longer tail keywords. It could be “black

coffee”, “Arabic coffee” or “hot coffee”.

Another way is to own the keyword not only for your website but on the entire internet. If you have a

Page 27: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 27/159

twitter account, Facebook account you might have the rank 1, 2 and 3 for the keyword coffee. And you might have an Pinterest account for your pictures that rank number 4. This way you can make it very difficult for a new competitor to sell its coffee on the internet.

Coffee suppliers The suppliers for the keyword market for “coffee” are the search engines. So Google, Bing, Yahoo are the big suppliers for the keyword market for “coffee”. Don’t forget YouTube – this is the second largest

search engines today.

But also the social media is a supplier. Who brings in most referrals for your keyword on the internet?

Of course Google.com is properly is your biggest source for traffic. But don’t forget to check out the other suppliers too.

And remember that Google is changing its algorithm maybe 500 times a year. Most of the algorithm

changes are really small, but sometimes – like the Panda or Penguin updates – it can really change the ranking of the coffee market.

So if you normally rank as number 1, 2 or 3 and suddenly drops down to number 8 (or worse 11) you have a problem.

The threat from coffee buyers When Porter talks about the forces, he is talking about the threat of buyers. And the threat these days are growing.

Maybe the coffee you are selling has been harvested by some underpaid children. They are almost

living like slaves. And suddenly the news is out in the social networks.

“Did you hear that this coffee company is using child slaves to harvest its coffee?” So the people will tell their friends on Facebook and Google+ and Twitter. You will see within days that your sale is going

down.

The social signals are also factors for the search engines like Google and Bing. Yes. If people start to write bad reviews, making bad press releases the search engines will lower your ranking for the coffee

keyword. Positive and negative social signals affect the organic ranking.

Buyers can also click on like to local coffee business. This way they will help the local shop. And local searches are getting more and more important these days. So be sure people like your shop too.

Coffee substitutes This is the threat of substitutions for the coffee keyword. Are there new ways you can use the keyword for coffee? The total market for the keyword “coffee” is not on Google. You might have to do some

alternative marketing tactics.

Do some Google Adwords? Or other PPC ads? Maybe you should try YouTube or Facebook PPCs? Maybe search retargeting. Build up a large audience in your social networks or start an email club with special

offers?

Well you should always do this anyway right?

Imagine what happens if Google suddenly changes its algorithm and you were getting 80 percent of your traffic from Google.

You have spent years building up backlinks to your site, and suddenly Google thinks the social network is much more important than backlinks. Then you will have a problem right?

Like in the real world, it is a thing to have an ongoing check of your competitors. What are they doing regarding backlinks, in the social network? Have they hired some new SEO guys?

Don’t let the competitors take the lead.

Page 28: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 28/159

Coffee competition rivalry and intensity within the coffee industry The rivalry and intensity for the coffee keyword is depending on all the above forces and your marketing strategy and your SEO strategy. For most industries the intensity of competitive rivalry is the major determinant for the competitiveness of the industry.

How much money are the other companies

spending on SEO? On Google Adwords? PPC budget? Are they working with video? Social networks? How big are the marketing budgets? The online budget?

You can also do a keyword analysis for the keyword, like this from Market Samurai (But you can get analysis like this from many other companies too).

Coffee conclusion You know the conclusion already. You can’t really

say if you are going to rank number 1 for your keyword.

You are depending on the entrants, buyers, suppliers, substitute and the rivalry and intensity within the coffee keyword market.

The external forces are strong – so if you meet an SEO company telling you they can get you a

number one ranking for a keyword you will know now that it really is impossible to promise.

And now it’s time for my coffee.

All the best, Henrik

Perks You Get From Winning Web Content Does your website have winning and engaging content?

Why is it important to have it? These days it is very crucial for website owners and bloggers to publish useful, insightful, and relevant content at the sites

that they manage.

There was a time when repetitive, spammy, and immaterial blogs and articles were passed off as “high quality” content. The recent Google algorithm changes allowed the search engine giant to separate good web sites from bad ones.

Good websites are those that offer significant and

original content for their readers while bad ones are those that rely on illegal or black-hat optimization techniques for traffic.

Why should you strive to produce engaging web content?

Benefits of Substantial and Winning Web Content

Why should you bother improving or even completely revising your web content? This task is not meant to make your life difficult as a web developer. It is meant to protect you from search engine optimization effects that new algorithms or systems in the future might have. Here are some perks you can get from excellent web content:

1. An opportunity to get a high page rank

Right now, Google and other search engines are giving credit to substantial and engaging web content. This means that the more original posts you publish, the more chances of getting high traffic and eventually high ranking for your sites.

2. Chance to establish your group’s credibility Engaging and winning posts and articles in a website help owners build their credibility up in their respective niches. Your target audience will deem you as the authority in that particular niche and

consider you as a trustworthy reference.

3. The opportunity to set a new trend Do you have ideas for new web content? Why don’t you go ahead and produce them? They just might

be the next hottest trend in search optimization strategies. You’ll never know unless you try. Don’t stop conceptualizing new content forms or improving your old content.

4. Avoid potential penalties from search engines This is probably the best benefit you can get. Right now the search engines favor original, credible, and high quality content over futile ones, so it is best to produce them unless you want to run the risk of getting penalized or completely banned from the online world. You don’t want to start all over again now do you?

Do you now comprehend why engaging and winning content is a crucial or vital element of a website?

You can’t expect to operate without producing regular, noteworthy, and reliable content that will be appreciated by readers. So start brainstorming for new and remarkable ones right away!

Points To Consider While Designing a User-Friendly Website

It is extremely important for contemporary businesses to have a strong online presence.

The sheer volume of prospective customers with

access to the web is growing by leaps and bounds over the passage of time, making it practically imperative for companies to build strong and informative websites, to retain contact with clients at all times.

The presence of secure websites is all the more

necessary if your firm specializes exclusively in

online transactions.

In what follows, you will be provided with a few pointers that can go a long way in making your business website more powerful and effective. Click here to find more information on this regards.

Choose a structured layout – There are several alternative layouts that can be used on web pages.

However, it is advisable for you to stick to the most common ones that are seen online. The layout that

you select must lend your site an uncluttered, easy-to-navigate feel. A systematically developed website also ensures that visitors can find the information they need quickly and with ease.

Selecting the font for web content – While browsing on the web, people tend to be rather

impatient in nature. Hence, it is critical for a website to be user-friendly enough to retain the users’

attention for an extended span of time. Choose a font for your site that would be present on the systems of maximum users (Ariel, Times New Roman or Verdana serve fine in this regard). The font size and color should also be chosen appropriately.

Presence of animations and flash banners – It is important for your site to have a small loading time. Typically, multimedia flash content takes greater time to load on a server than a plain, text-based web page. Hence, you need to determine the amount and the number of multimedia advertisements that should be present on your site. Always keep in mind that, it is the information content, and not

the advertisements, that will drive traffic to your site.

Use of pop-up advertisements – Users from all over the world would agree on the fact that websites with many pop-ups are irritating and rather inconvenient. Stay away from the notion that a large number of pop-up ads will actually make your site more interactive in nature. Far from doing so, that can actually drive people away from your site. A single pop-up might work well, along with one pop-under page (if necessary).

Putting hyperlinks on your pages – Help your visitors to easily locate the hyperlinks that you place

in your webpage content. The conventional practice on this count is to put the text that is to be hyperlinked in blue, and underlining the same. That way, it would stand out from the rest of the content and make people aware of the presence of hyperlinks.

Linking to the Home Page – Ideally, each and every page of your website should have a link to return to the home page. This makes your site much easier to navigate (rather than making users use the ‘back’ button far too often).

Compressing images –Image files that are too large in size will automatically slow down your site. Thus, you need to compress your pictures to sizes that would be optimal for web users. Fortunately, there are a number of online graphic editors which you can use for this purpose.

Content quality – In order to gain in reputation and popularity over the long-run, you need to make sure that the content that is published on your website is of the best quality. The write-ups have to be

Page 32: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 32/159

informative, structured and crisp. Ideally, each of the pages should dwell with discrete topics or issues. Of course, avoiding basic spelling and grammatical errors is of the primary essence.

There are multiple other tips that you should follow while creating your own website. Close adherence to all such web designing guidelines can make your site really popular among users.

Contributed by Kenneth Parkar, the official instruction about how to design or develop your website.

Though networking and community building are the two prime jobs of social media, it is okay to prepare in some relevant service news. You can announce your offers and discounts in a clear concise manner but be tactful in how you do it.

On the whole, if you put these ideas into action, it will definitely benefit you a lot.

10 Dos and Don’ts of Blogging for Your Business Successful and effective blogging does not happen overnight or by luck. In fact, seasoned bloggers work hard and constantly learn more about the craft. These basic Dos and Don’ts are a stepping stone for making a successful

business blog.

Do spread the word offline about your blog. If you want a successful blog, you must make it a priority. Don’t be ashamed of what you’re doing online. Spread the word around the office, to customers and to your family.

Don’t have music automatically playing in the

background. While this may have been cool in the early days of the Internet, it’s simply a hassle now. Music playing in the background will simply distract, and possibly aggravate, your visitors.

Do post regularly. Make a posting schedule and stick to it. Your blog needs consistent fresh content. When visitors know you post often, they are more

likely to visit again and again.

Don’t fill your website with ads. You are a business. The goal of your website is to drive people to your business, not to advertise other products and services. Focus your energy on great content, not generating money from third-party advertisements.

Do create a relationship with other blogs in your niche. As a business blog, connect with other

businesses in your area. You can start building this business relationship through commenting on other

business blogs. Not only does it help build relationships, but it also helps your blog because it gets your name out there even more.

Don’t post irrelevant, fluffy material. When you spend time creating a blog post, make it count. Posting for the sake of posting does not help your readership, and doesn’t help you either. If you can’t come up with three quality posts a week, that’s okay. Only post once a week. Make every post count.

Do share your blog through your social media websites. It’s okay if you do not have a social media plan for your business. But if nothing else, you should have a personal account. If you do, make sure

to share links to your blog through social media. Encourage your family, friends and coworkers do the same. The more people that share, the greater chances you have of more visitors.

Don’t use spammy, questionable methods to get visitors. There are plenty of black hat marketing methods that you may come across during your study of successful business blogging. However, steer far away from these methods. You may get more visitors at first, but the end result could give your business a bad name and even get you banned from search engines.

Do build a relationship with your readers. Engage with your readers through the comments section. If

someone comments with a question, promptly respond. This is all a part of customer service and public relations. Work hard and keep visitors and customers happy.

Don’t get discouraged. You may not see overnight success from your business blog, but keep at it. With a bit of hard work, you can make this tool a huge asset for your business.

Importance of Setting up Google Places Correctly

With more and more people using the Internet to buy or sell a product or service, Google Places has become the better alternative to

the Yellow Pages.

It is also called referred to as Google Maps and is actually an extension of Google Search. Google Places is a very convenient tool for sellers and buyers and it is completely free to use.

If you operate a local business and you want to

increase your sales, it is recommended that you get

your company listed in it.

The Farmer Update in 2011 gave local businesses the opportunity to get to the top of the Google search page results. That is, if they know how to effectively use Google Places.

What this means is that there are certain things that you must do in order to land at the top spot of

Google searches using Google places, and these are:

Account Set Up – The first thing you need to do is set up an account in Google Places. It is free and easy to do but it must be complete. An important step in getting to the top of the searches is completing your information and using the right keywords. Supply complete and correct information on your Name, Address, contact details, email and website addresses, and also provide an accurate

description of your business. Fill out as many fields as possible. You can also supply videos and photos

of your business. This will add style to your business and give readers more information about it.

Supply a citation – This is simply a reference of your business from another website. The citation must be identical to the precise match of your Google Places listing.

Check the accuracy of all your citations – This includes names, addresses, phone numbers and so forth. Even if your company is listed, incorrect information will affect its ranking adversely.

Get your company listed – To get the best citations, you need to get listed on Yahoo, Insiderpages, Angie’s List, Superpages and other search sites. Google will be able to get more information about your

company from these sites.

Create additional local links – This means building up additional local links that refer to your business name, URL, phone number and business address. Like the usual SEO methods, you can indicate them in social media networks and postings. However, it would be more advantageous if you will source them from other business websites, directories and bloggers since they function as a form of review.

Regularly update your Google Places page – This can be accomplished by simply modifying the main areas of your page, as often as possible. It is not necessary to edit the videos or the images but

maybe just editing the description. Doing these things can impact your ranking, in a positive way.

Get as many reviews as you can – These reviews play a major role in increasing your ranking and driving your listing upward. So get as many reviews as possible, from different websites. You can encourage other sites to do this by also offering to exchange reviews of their business as well.

Incredibly simple tips to get Free Traffic to your website

All the webmasters are putting their efforts only for one simple thing: traffic. Building traffic is the most challenging task for a

website owner.

At the same time, this is the most precious wealth for an online business.

More traffic means more conversion and this leads to the generation of more revenues. Traffic building strategies may be divided into paid

and free strategies respectively.

According to online marketing SEO experts, free traffic building strategies can be classified into three phases: bringing traffic to a new website, enhancing traffic funnel and maintaining the influx of traffic to an old website and continuous generation of revenues. Here, you’ll learn the effective strategies into these separate categories.

# Bringing traffic to a brand new website: primary strategies

* Optimizing the contents:

Today, keyword optimization concept has become different. Older concepts don’t work anymore.

Nowadays, you have to produce high quality content based on the topic, not the keyword. You have to optimize the title and metadata for better search engine responses. This step refers to a term:

on page optimization.

* Directory submission, press release, article marketing:

Once the website is ready and optimized for search engine listings, you have to submit the website URLs, site maps in different search engines and directories. Submission of press releases, articles will definitely help your website rank in the search engines against certain keywords. Finally, your brand new website will start getting some organic visitors gradually.

# Increasing the amount of traffic gradually

* Forum posting, blog commenting and connecting with your visitors:

You have to concentrate on building relationships with your visitors and potential clients through your website. You must ensure the quality and credibility of the information published on your website. You have to leave URLs and links on the related forums and discussion threads. You can also interchange the links with blogs and website in the relevant category. This will create a funnel of visitors

within the strong network. Be responsive to your readers; encourage them about commenting and leaving feedback.

* Adapting popular social media platforms for your website:

Nowadays, social media websites, bookmarking sites and community-sharing sites have become the most credible source of traffic. These websites don’t only get you instant traffic, but they also help

your website to increase credibility and authority rank. You have to prepare your site for these social websites and platforms. Fortunately, there are many plug-ins and software to make things easier

Page 38: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 38/159

for the webmasters. You should also maintain the relationship with your visitors on these platforms.

# Maintaining the influx of traffic: keeping the volume constant

* Viral marketing, video marketing, regular submission of articles and press releases:

Maintaining the amount of traffic to your site is the biggest challenge faced by the webmasters. This requires long-term marketing strategies. Viral social marketing, video marketing in the leading platforms like Youtube.com, metacafe.com, dailymotion.com and regular press release and article

submission help the sites to retain the amount of visitors consistently. The strategy is similar to the primary tactic, but you have to plan your strategy properly. Following these steps also helps you increase the amount of traffic to your website.

* Distribute free stuff and build a subscriber list:

You must make your visitors feel special and enticed with something very useful. Build an email or subscriber list by giving away free reports, eBooks and many other things. This will definitely

retain the loyal visitors to your site. At the same time, spontaneous social sharing also helps the number of subscribers grow. Building a list is a very effective way to generate revenue.

* Use offline promotion methods, let people talk on your platform:

Offline methods are always neglected by many webmasters. This is definitely one of the powerful methods of growing local traffic and gets potential customers from local market. You should follow the traditional offline marketing strategies and keep the funnel of visitors intact. Besides, you should

create a forum or blogging platform where your visitors can interconnect between each other. This also helps your visitors grow beyond.

Many webmasters often complain that the free-traffic building strategies don’t work effectively. They

are always oriented towards paid marketing and advertising strategies. But free techniques can definitely help your visitors grow if used properly. There are numerous other methods, some of which are rarely practiced by the webmasters; learning and implementing them will definitely help you

enhance the traffic amazingly.

Making the Choice between Web-Popularity and SEO friendly Graphics

Graphics consume almost 50% space on a web page and Google reads them carefully to gather important information about your

website.

From the resolution and format to image ALT tags, everything plays an important role in the ranking of a website.

Now, while it is known that small resolution graphics load faster and that keyword-rich ALT tags

are easily readable, there is some dispute between

“popular on web” and “SEO-friendly” graphics.

Most browsers and OSes will support most graphic formats; however, not all formats will be conducive to your website’s bandwidth allocation, loading time, or suit your business objective.

There are mainly 5 types of graphic formats that are highly popular on the web, and all of them have

their benefits and disadvantages as far as SEO is concerned:

JPEG- It’s the most widely used image format and is supported by all popular operating systems, which is highly beneficial from the SEO perspective. However, unlike GIF, JPEG cannot be animated and

its excellent resolution may make graphics heavier.

If your requirement is a cross-OS compatible graphics to use in small numbers on your website, JPEG is the best choice for SEO-friendly images.

GIF- It’s the ideal image format for logos and animations, the latter of which can be done without any coding so viewers can watch it directly from a browser without any third party plug-in. However, GIF supports only 256 colors and lacks the high-quality appeal of JPEG.

So, if your site requires high-gloss quality images, their purpose being to retain attention, do not use

GIF. However, if you want animation effects without the burden of a heavy Flash file, use GIF.

BMP- It’s a popular image format for Windows users, but is not SEO-friendly. Also Bitmap images use up lots of bandwidth that make a site slower.

TIFF- It offers excellent resolution and clarity but is extremely heavy, eat server space and more importantly, can reduce the page loading time. Mac users prefer this format for its richness, but if

SERP ranking is more important to you, then avoid it.

PNG- The best quality of PNG is that it’s lossless. Even compressed, an image remains high-quality despite becoming lightweight. However, PNG is not advisable for graphic design because it is not supported by all web browsers.

Generally, most designers will use JPEG and JIF formats because of their attractiveness, support from

Twitter Marketing for Beginners In recent years, online tools such as Twitter and Facebook have made social media marketing more progressive and popular.

Twitter has allowed businesses to create a professional presence online and the ability to

interact with potential/existing customers through much more immediate means. Businesses are now afforded the luxury of knowing what their followers (customers) are doing at any given moment, and vice versa. This real time data sharing creates not only up-to-date business profiles but also

immediate and current sharing of ideas and

products.

Twitter is all about relationships

Twitter is all about relationships, and in this respect the same can be true for marketing. The simple fact when it comes to marketing is that relationships are vital. Connections drive marketing – the more

connections you have the more marketing potential you have. Twitter has thus become one of the leading social media marketing choices as it allows for the creation of literally thousands of followers (25 million and counting if you are Lady Gaga!).

Twitter’s unique aspect of being able to follow people and being followed in turn means that very quickly a business can amass a giant list of potential customers and professional relationships. A user

does not have to request in most cases who to follow and whereas Facebook limits the amount of

connections you can have, twitter only limits the amount you can follow, not who can follow you, so essentially the sphere of influence/networks is endless.

Twitter allows businesses to promote and market their products or themselves, at an individual level. One commentator likened Twitter to that of a giant dinner party, wherein lots of conversations are occurring. One can easily join in or start a new one where in turn others can join in. This is different to Blogs, which were likened more to crowd talking, and Facebook, which was simply viewed as no more than private conversations. Twitters’ benefit is its ability to share information amongst a lot of people

easily and openly.

Twitter and B2B

Twitter is one of the leading social media marketing choices for B2B due to viral marketing benefits. Viral marketing is a core B2B social media application for a product or service recognition and

development of leads. According to Irbtrax SEO Social Media Marketing Optimization founder Scott Moir – “It can’t be emphasized enough. When used effectively the viral marketing benefits of Twitter

make it an extremely valuable platform for any business that depends on the Internet for its prosperity.”

Well written, newsworthy, enticing tweets can take on the characteristics of a successful online press release. News and information can be spread almost instantaneously; far quicker than emails or blog. Information can spread from New York to London to Tokyo in a matter of seconds. Ultimately viral marketing can lead to brand enhancement, content sharing and traffic generation for your company.

Research tool

As a market research tool, Twitter is also excellent. With many built in features, as well as external systems such as Buffer and TweetDeck, which can efficiently monitor information related to their

Page 42: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 42/159

industry specific trends. Through careful research, one can gain an insight into the people who use Twitter, more specifically your followers at an individual level. Who are they as people? What is their likes and dislike? Etc. The information gathered through this research is invaluable when it comes to putting together pitches and building industry relationships.

Elsewhere, one can monitor your competitor’s twitter accounts to research their online strategy – What are they doing differently to you? What are you doing different to them? Much of this research is conducted through analyzing what can only be described as ‘peripheral connections’. What this means

is if you want to market your company you find someone on twitter that is doing the same thing as you with a similar message or item and look to their followers. They are following this person for a reason. Find the reason, exploit and entice these followers to follow you.

Boost your traffic

Twitter can also be used as a mean to boost and promote a business’s other site also. One can use Twitter to promote your social bookmarking submissions or get your followers to vote up submissions

through Digg, Delicious etc. In this respect, this reciprocal aspect of twitter is unique. By helping one another, you are able to get a feel for who uses these sites i.e. Digg, and this serves in turn as a fantastic promotional tool. What is more, this sharing of help and ideas provides an invaluable source pool of ideas for blogs. One can pick up other posts and expand on them or garner ideas from conservation or new authors.

Trust and value are often the core principle behind following one another on Twitter, and this has to be achieved most of the time through the personal approach. Businesses should not be afraid to conduct

small talk with their followers and indeed competitors (of course remaining professional when doing so) . The problem however is often trying to be too corporate which creates a boring twitter account. To have tens of thousands of followers on Twitter is impressive but often these are simply the results of popularity (in the case of a celebrity), long established brands or harvesting software. It is very unlikely that these are honest relationships with which you can market too. Honest relationships more than nominal ones which are critical to long term marketing and business.

Simplicity of use

Much of twitter’s success stems ultimately from its simplicity of use. Users of Twitter do not have to look after and manage a wealth of information or details unlike other social media sites, and so their ability to use Twitter is much more organized. In turn, Twitter users have related that this has made their Twitter account ‘more fun’ to use than say on Facebook or Myspace. But there is also a flexibility to Twitter which is lacking elsewhere. Twitter in terms of a communication/marketing tool is one that

can essentially be accessed anywhere and by a wide ranging audience. Twitter also requires minimal resources meaning it can be accessed from any device which has the internet or a viable ISP. This is significant for businesses that have a technologically diverse target audience.

In short, the benefits Twitter Marketing can bring a business are:

Real-time content

Immediate data share

Brand enhancement

Traffic generation

Customer demographic improvements

Increased customer loyalty

Social Media Addiction The most remarkable development through the last decade is considered to be different social media networking platforms as MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and Google+1.

Among the list of concerns in the life of modern

man are how to get Twitter followers or get Facebook fans. These are vital issues today.

These platforms meant for individuals, groups and communities with common interests to stay more “connected” and share mutual interests.

Actually, social media platforms have entered lives of all people and hardly anyone can imagine their

life without them. And, yes, the thing is that social media very often appear to be quite useful.

They help us to stay connected; they help to get and spread new information more easily, faster and usefully, stay in touch with people we like, and so on. There are many pluses and it is difficult to innumerate all of them. But along with so many advantages there also exist a series of disadvantages which all the users should be aware of and try to avoid.

Today I want to focus my attention on the most “important” minus of social media and it is

“addiction”.

Let us see. Internet addiction and particularly social media addiction are recognized by psychologists as psychological disorders. There have been and still are being carried out a number of studies referring to the expansion of Internet addiction. It is mainly observed among the users of social media

networking platforms, especially Facebook. The reason for addiction is that users do not want to miss anything on their account or page, be it a status update, post, tweet, a photo or video. According to

survey more than 350 users are suffering from Facebook addiction and this number is increasing. Here are some signs of social media addiction.

If you continually check your Facebook or Twitter updates regardless of time and place. You do not enjoy your time and spend it upgrading your statuses and tweeting about every little thing happening to you and around you. Be sure you are addicted.

If you feel anxious and discomfort when you are not online, it also signals out that you are addicted. Many addicted people have a feeling of loneliness and depression. If you feel the same you had better

find an Internet rehab center.

Another symptom of addiction is the list of your friends. If you do not know most of your friends but add them to create an impression that you are well connected and have many acquaintances, then you are addicted.

How to Start a Digital Customer Strategy for Websites

Long long time ago – well 5 or 10 years ago – companies tried to make a difference based on the products they made for their customers.

The old fashion value chain model was great. It would give us the ability to find ways to cut the costs of producing a product.

But now you can go online and check the prices for a product within seconds. And if you have a physical shop or even a web shop I will bet that somewhere

on the web there is a shop who will sell your

product cheaper than you.

There are a lot of websites where you are checking prices and you can find the cheapest one in 5 seconds right? Maybe you are setting up the prices based on your costs. But what if a web shop is setting their prices based on the lifetime value of a customer. In this case they can push their sales

prices back maybe 5 or 10 percent.

So you might find that you can go to your local store and get an item for 25 dollars and you can go online see buy the precise same product for 10 dollars. So why should you get 15 dollars more in the local shop. Well this is all old news – I know.

So how do you make a different? How do you show the customer that they will have to buy the product in your shop? What kind of value are you giving to your customers? Companies these days

need to find new ways to make a different.

Connecting devices

The shift from producing and selling your products locally to the role of delivering the best value for the customer is driving – among other things – by the connecting devices.

The computer power of a Smartphone these days are bigger than the computer power used by NASA to put a man on the moon.

So as a company we will have to use these new devices to boost our business.

And it’s not just the mobile phones. It’s also tablet computers and notebooks. The devices are all making it easier for the customers to find products and services online. To compare the products. We don’t go online once a week to check out a shop or products, we are always online. We are getting hints from our friends. We check the reviews.

And this amazing new approach really opens up a brand new world for us marketing people right? We will have to create the right Digital Strategy – to show our customers that they have to put the product

on our website. Even though we might not be the cheapest one, we could bring the highest value.

So instead of having your focus on the costs of producing a product, we should now have the focus on delivering the best value to the customers. We need to pay attention to people using multiple social networks, multiple devices, always online.

We need to develop a “Digital Customer Strategy”

4 step Digital Customer Strategy

So let me show you this 4 step guide for starting this digital customer strategy.

Page 46: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 46/159

1) Mission and value of your company and brand

You need to be in compliance with your mission and value. You can’t have a luxury brand offline and a cheap product online right?

A digital online customer should have the same feel of the company online and offline. And the value should be shown in every marketing channel.

2) The Intended digital experience

Describe how you want to interact with your customers need. Don’t talk about IT or HTML.

In plain text write down, how you want to help the customer gathering information about the same kind of product as yours?

What kind of information should be provided to the customer before buying your product? What about after sale information?

How do you want to engage your customers? Remember your customers are online 24/7.

3) Activities and processes that support the intended digital experience

Now you will have to talk about IT and HTML. How can you deliver the intended digital experience and give your customers more value?

Do you your customer to get a white paper about the topic or product? Do you want the customer to be able to compare products? Do you want the customer to get links to product reviews? Do you have an email club? What about the social media?

How do you want to keep touch with your customer 24/7?

4) Digital channel investments

Now you know your mission and brand value, you know what kind of digital experience you want to give your customers to give them extra value right?

And you also know which activities and processes you need to support the digital experience. So now you have to invest in your activities and processes.

With your clear strategy in place, your company can now make the decisions about the website, so they will have the most impact on their businesses instead of just following a me-too strategy.

Top SEO Practices for Mobile Websites Be it for web pages, websites or blogs, search engine optimization is essential for their publicity and visibility on the web.

Of late Smartphone and portable device usage has been on the rise across the globe, especially in the

US. A survey conducted in 2012 revealed that of the total population in the US, close to 50% of them own a Smartphone and the ownership rate increases to 62% in the 25 to 34 age group.

With increasing number of people accessing the Internet through their Smartphones and mobile

devices, online businesses are required to have a

mobile website in order to cater to the mobile device users.

Certainly, the projections for the future are also bright. It is estimated that by 2015 every person in the world will own a mobile device. Another research revealed that by 2013 close to 75% of active Internet users will use their mobile devices

to access the Internet.

If you run an online business then it is a mandate for you to manage a mobile website. As more people access Internet on their Smartphones, there is a four-fold increase in the number of mobile searches since 2010.

Search engines like Google have incorporated special algorithms in their search bots to highlight

mobile websites in their search results.

Though the mobile web development arena is still in its infancy, almost all mobile device users expect their mobile search and browsing experience to mimic their desktop experience.

There are many issues reported when it comes mobile browsing, the most common of them being time to load a website and the response time of web pages.

With close to 40% of mobile device users turning to a competitor’s website due to poor mobile website performance, hence the mobile website experience is essential to attract and retain customers.

Mobile device users frequently use Smartphones to find information about local businesses and local

hangouts.

All these stats point to the fact that if you want run a successful online business, then it is compulsory to develop a mobile website and implement effective search engine optimization strategies to increase that website’s visibility on the search engine results page.

Adhering to Publisher Guidelines

First and foremost, make sure that the content in your website and all your SEO practices comply with

publisher and search engine guidelines. Google has suggested webmasters to either adopt a responsive design or device specific HTML strategy during mobile website designing. Responsive design involves having the same set of URLs for all devices, but only changing the style of the page using CSS. Device-specific HTML strategy uses the same set of URLs, but provides different layout based on the device.

Quick Loading & Simplified Navigation

While designing mobile websites make sure you include content and features that intrigue mobile users.

Page 48: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 48/159

For this purpose, use website analytic tools and refrain from using huge blocks of text, rather use images and infographics. Image compression also enables faster website loading. For simplified site navigation, design the website in a vertical-only layout, provide a hierarchy of menus, and include a search box on every page.

User-friendly & Search Engine Friendly Design

Most people who access websites from their mobile devices use their fingers to operate and navigate,

so design your website such that even large hands can easily interact with it. And also use large and centered tabs with enough spaces so as to avoid accidental clicks.

On-site Detail

As mobile device users access a website to gain information on the go, have your address or contact details with maps and directions on the site’s landing page. Post forms with limited fields and use check boxes, lists and scroll menus to enable seamless data entry. Have click-to-call and click-to-mail

options for phone numbers and email ids. Maintain and highlight the key features of your website across all the pages and channels.

Use Mobile Site Redirects

Finally, the most important practice, utilize mobile website redirect code that alerts visitors using a mobile device and automatically redirects them to a mobile-friendly edition of your website. Use the redirect code to provide the best version of your website and also allow users to transition between the

desktop site and mobile site seamlessly. Make sure that the mobile and traditional website does not vary much in style and layout.

Getting B2B leads from Google Analytic and Boost Your Sale Now

Let me show you step by step how you can increase your online marketing ROI by over 30 percent just by using this free technique.

Do you know that you can get a very deep insight about who visits your website? And they don’t even have to sign up for a newsletter or fill out a form. That is possible. And the best part is that it’s absolutely free.

In fact B2B companies can find the names of the

companies who are just browsing your site. And you

can get a list telling you which pages they are looking at?

Well I am sure some of you already know that. But let me show you have to set up your Google Analytic step by step.

Normally B2B companies don’t have as many visitors to their site as B2C companies. And the

traffic volumes are very often much too low to extract any useable data for the company.

On the other hand – typically a B2B visitor will spend more time on a website than a B2C visitor.

A lot of the B2B companies are using the Google Adwords to drive traffic to their site – but the prices for these online ads are getting higher and higher. Most of the traffic to B2B have an interest in the

company’s product or service, but most of them are leaving the website again without buying anything.

Step by Step

Okay let me show you the trick step by step.

First you need to open your Google Analytic and choose the “custom reporting”, and choose “+new custom report”.

Now you should be ready to build your report.

First write a title for your report, and a name for the content.

Choose the “explorer” box.

Now to the fun part. From the blue metrics box you select

Visits

Pageviews

New visits

Unique visitors

Pages/visits

Just choose one at the time. Now in the green dimension drilldowns box you you will select:

Country/territory

Service provider

Page

Page 50: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 50/159

Remember to pick them in that order.

Now we are almost done. Just click the save button.

Now try and run the report

First you get a view with the countries.

Page 51: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 51/159

Click on one of the countries. Now you will see a list of all the service providers for each one of your visitors.

Page 52: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 52/159

Some of your visitors are from Internet service providers or universities but if you scroll down the list you will start to see visitors who are accessing you from identifiable corporate networks.

Now click on a company name and you will see which pages they have been looking at.

You can’t see which person who has been looking at your site, but maybe the sales team has been working on a customer, so they probably know a person from the company. Or you can go to your

LinkedIn account and see if you can find the names of the persons working in that company..

Now you can go back to edit your report. You will see the word Filters.

You will need to add some filters so you can read rid of the some of the internet service providers or universities. So you will get a list with the company names.

Another great feature is that you can send this report automatically to your mail or your sales departments’ mail every day or every week.

This report is an excellent tool for detecting early interest from a larger organization. Now be sure you use your knowledge and contact the company. And as I wrote in the beginning – some companies have increased their online marketing ROI by over 30 percent using this technique.

Good luck

Henrik

Business Strategies to Boost your Online Business Now

The customers have the power online. The customers can find the precise same product as you have online a click away.

And somewhere out there the customer can find your product cheaper than you can sell it right?

So how can you put extra value to your website and to your products?

The product and the digital value will make you a better product.

A better product for the customers and therefor also a better product for you.

Maybe you know your own value chain, but do you know your customers value chain?

The value chain

You might have heard of the value chain of a company.

Here is the short version.

The primary value chain activities are the ones in the bottom – Inbound Logistics – Operations – Outbound Logistics – Marketing / Sales – Service.

The goal of all these activities is to create a value that will exceed the cost of providing the product or

service and this way generating a profit margin.

The inbound logistic is the input materials – including the receiving, warehousing and inventory.

Page 56: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 56/159

The operations are the activities that transform the inputs into the final products.

The outbound logistics are the activities required to get the product to the customers – including warehousing and order fulfillment.

Marketing and sale (I love this part because I work in marketing) are the activities involving getting buyers to buy the product and advertising.

Service is the activities like customer support, repair services etc.

The supporting activities are the activities at the top in the image. Porter (yes it’s my friend Michael E. Porter again – did you read SEO the Porter Way?

Porter talks about 4 supporting activities.

First procurement – this is the activities involving in purchasing the raw material and other input for the value creating activities.

Technology Development – this includes research and development and other technology development used to support the value chain activities.

The human resource management – is everything regarding recruiting development and compensation of employees.

At last we have the firm infrastructure – this could be activities such as finance, legal, quality management etc.

If you like to read more about the value chain – you should read Michael E. Porter: Competitive Advantage: Creating and Sustaining Superior Performance.

Okay this was the normal company chain. Let’s change our focus to the customers now.

Customer value chain

If you want to give the customer something extra – a digital value – you’ll have to know the customer value chain too. So here it is.

It’s inspired from the buying decision model.

First the customer has a need for something. Let’s say the buyer (let’s call him Joe) needs some transportation from his home to his work.

He starts to search for solutions – he could take his bike, a bus or maybe buy a car. Well Joe likes to

drive a car so he will do that.

He goes to his car dealer – try different models, lets his wife pick the color (right?) and buy it.

Now he uses it for work every day. And the effect is that he now has transportation to his job.

Page 57: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 57/159

The Value Matric Model

Now what will happen if we put the two models together? We get the awesome Value Matric Model

Webshop – Selling clothes

You have a webshop selling clothes. You don’t have any inbound logistics and you don’t have any

operations – because you are not producing the clothes yourself. All you are doing is having your website where you are selling your clothes. So you have marketing and sale, outbound logistics (you send the clothes to your customers and you have some customer support.

You webshop is very basic – all you do for the customer helping with the buying – right? So this will look like this

Page 58: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 58/159

So the question is how will develop your webshop to give your customer more value.

The customers have a need for clothes. Maybe it's getting cold outside and need warm clothes, or its summertime and they need some light summer clothes.

Can you help them in their search? Yes you can. Write about fashion, which colors are hot this year? How can you put different clothes together? Maybe the customer can type their measurement and then

search for the clothes that fits them?

Or take a look at this 3D clothes shop. It will be an event to go to your shop and get the clothes.

Do you have a blog or social network tell people about all your new clothes? Keeps the conversation going.

Maybe you have a corporation with a clothes cleaning shop.

You see it’s only the imagination that stopping you – remember to think about the customer value chain.

So you might find that you will develop your webshop in the green spots.

Page 59: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 59/159

Analyze your competitor’s web shop too using this model to get ideas – or to get ideas different than your competitors.

I better stop now and get my coffee.

3 steps to get traffic from Social Media I think most of us know by now that social media is important when we talk about getting traffic and attention to our website. But then the problems start right? Which one should I choose for my website?

Should it be Facebook (now more than 1 billion users), Google+, Twitter, YouTube? Or what about Instagram or Pinterest?

There are so many to choose between. And it’s important that you choose too many different ones, because then you don’t have the time to really rock

the boat and get your traffic.

But if you are too busy with too many social media you will not learn to master it and really get to learn a social media.

After you have learned a social media, you can start to put as much as you can on autopilot to save time, but remember that social media means you have to be social right?

Well let me show you how you can choose the right social media for your site.

Step 1 – find the right social media from your own data

I hope you are using Google Analytic – if you are not – get it now.

Go to your Google Analytic data, and look at your referral traffic. You will find it under “standard reporting”, “traffic sources”, “sources”, “referrals”.

Page 61: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 61/159

Here you can see my report for the last month.

I get a lot of traffic from LinkedIn and then StumbleUpon and Twitter.

Facebook is only number 7 on the list. So go and check your own traffic now.

Step 2 – find the right social media from your competitors’ data

And to go Alexa and check out your competitors. Maybe I have been too lazy with my Facebook. Maybe I should spend much more time on Facebook?

I will check out SeoMoz.org. A lot of people interesting in SEO are using their software.

Now I can see that Seomoz.org uses Facebook better than I do. The number 3 traffic source for

Seomoz is Facebook.

So I should try to get more active in that social media.

You can get more ideas here how to choose the right social media.

Step 3 – Now start to rock the boat

Latest SEO tips for your WordPress blog Here, I am going to talk about how you can optimize your WP blog for SEO. Remember there are millions of blogs in cyberspace, to get noticed you need to stand out.

Keywords

Use the free Google Keyword Tool to generate keywords.

Another option is using Google Instant Search. See what Google suggests when you start typing a word.

For example, if you type the word ‘health’, you will probably see suggestions like health tips, health

food, health tourism, and so on.

You could type a letter after the keyword, and you will get a list of suggestions.

Try this with several letters to get a list of keywords people are searching for, and you could include some of them in your post.

Tag

Make sure you include the keyword in the title tag as search engines will pick it up quickly.

Tags need to be more descriptive than the category. Like if your category is SEO, you can have a tag

that says WP SEO. Using common misspellings or variations of words may also help.

For instance, TV, television, or algorithm and algorithm. Search engines give importance to headings (H1 or H2), so make sure you include them.

The All-In-One SEO Pack is a free plug-in that helps you optimize your blog for SEO.

Videos

You can find videos on YouTube that are related to your post, by giving a catchy and unique title and description, and an image.

Search engines love video content, so embedded videos on your site will help it get noticed.

Social Media

Share your blog on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, so you can reach a wider audience.

Use a different title for your shared post that is short and catchy, and for SEO purposes you can use a more descriptive and keyword rich title.

Content that is ‘liked’ and ‘shared’ on social media sites are highly approved by Google.

Post regularly

Search engines always sniff out the freshest content.

You can use an update service that alerts other sites when you have new content.

Ping-O-Matic is a default setting but you can manually add more sites in the’ Add Services’ option of

the Writing tab.

Analyze and Strategize

Have an analytics tool like Piwik, Google Analytics or Clicky to track the volume and nature of traffic to your site.

You will be able to device strategies to attract more visitors once you have these answers.

Navigation

Link the various pages and/or posts on your site so that visitors can easily navigate your site and read other blogs you have written, and not just the one they landed on.

Time it right

Post on weekdays and during work hours.

This is the ‘peak hour traffic’ on the web, your post will attract more visitors then.

URLs: keep them short, it’s easier for people to remember and will be processed more quickly by search engines.

In the WP admin panel you can modify your permalink settings.

While it’s imperative to optimize your site, don’t go overboard with it. Keep your blog organic and make sure the content is interesting.

Daily, Weekly and Monthly Routines with Google Adwords

Most of the small or medium sized businesses (SMBs) that spend money on Google Adwords don’t optimize their Google Adwords. So for all

of you I have made this checklist.

When I did some research for this article I found out that over half of the Adwords users haven’t checked their account in the past month and 25 percent haven’t logged in once in over 90 days. Amazing right?

SMBs marketers are often working with much

smaller budgets and they often have a lot of different tasks to perform, so maybe they don’t think they have time for Google Adwords in their daily routines. But I will show them that it’s worth spending some few minutes every day, week and month.

They don’t check their keywords, they are not

changing their ads – it’s all on autopilot. But on the other hand this is good news for the businesses

which are checking their Adwords. It is much easier to beat a competitor who doesn’t check their account regularly.

You don’t have to spend hours optimizing your Google Adwords, just a few tips and tricks will do magic for your Adwords. So are you ready? Do you have coffee in your cup?

# Daily routines with Google Adwords

Every day I will log into my Google Adwords account for just 5 min. Is everything working well? You will have to check if everything looks normal.

If you normally have 100 clicks from Adwords and one morning you found that you only have 5 clicks – something is wrong, right?

This should only take 5 min.

# Weekly routines with Google Adwords

Check your keywords

You should raise your bids on the keywords that are doing a good job. A good job means converting clicks to conversions. (You do have some goals for your Adwords right? If not – make some right now).

You should lower your bids on keywords from which you don’t get any conversions. If you don’t have too much time to spend every week on this, you might find that Adwords automated bidding will help

you. Remember that you need to give your keywords some time. You can’t create a keyword on Monday and raise or lower your bid the next day. You will need some clicks to be statistic sure how great/bad it is performing.

Every week I will look at the Negative keywords list. You will find it when you click on your campaigns/keywords at the bottom. Go through the list and exclude the word phrases which are a waste of money. This could save you a lot of money and raise your quality score.

Page 68: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 68/159

Check your ads

You need to have at least 2 ads for every keyword. This way you can test which ads give you most clicks or conversions. You need to give the ads some time before you can tell which one is the winner.

To give you an idea about how many clicks you need to take a good here at www.SplitTester.com. Maybe you shouldn’t do this every week but only once a month – it all depends on how many clicks you are getting.

Make sure that your ads have a benefit statement and a very strong call to action. When you are sure

about the statistic you should throw away the bad performing ads and replace it with a new ad. This way you will continually get higher and higher CTR and Quality Scores over time.

# Month routines with Google Adwords

Check your Quality Score

Google calculates your Quality Score every time somebody does a search that triggers your ad. Quality Score is very important to you because of several factors.

Your keywords cost per click (CPC) – higher quality scores leads to a lower CPC. Yes you actually pay less per click when your Quality Score is higher. It also affects the first page bid estimate – a higher Quality Score leads to a lower first page bid estimate. So it will be much easier for you to get your ad on the first page with a higher Quality Score. Your Quality Score also leads to a cheaper top of page bid estimate. In general your ad position will get higher with a higher Quality Score and lower with a lower Quality Score.

The reason is that Google wants to show the most relevant ad to the user looking for something

special. So a higher Quality Score makes Google happy because the user is happier. So if there are a lot of businesses out there who never check their Google Adwords account, they will properly have a low Quality Score on some keywords and because you are working with your quality score you will beat them.

Google calculates your Quality Score with a large number of different factors related to your keyword – Your keyword’s past click through rate (CTR), your display URL’s past CTR, your account history, the

quality of your landing page, your keyword/ad relevance, your keyword/search relevance, geographic performance, your ad’s performance on a site, your targeted devices

If your Quality Score is below 5 you should do something about it. So increase your Quality Score by mention your keywords in the title and text on the landing page and in the ad text. If you have too many keywords in an ad group you should split up the ad group to 2 separate ad groups.

If you have some keywords below the average ROI and below your average Quality Scores – theses keywords are costing you money. If you don’t work to increase your Quality Score you should delete

them. I have heard the term “Band-Aid Solution”. So you have a choice – optimizing your low performing keywords or put them on pause.

Keyword Research

Your keywords are the backbone of your Google Adwords. The Quality of your keyword research can make the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful campaign.

So you should expand your keyword research to increase your reach. Try some other keyword match

types such as modified broad, phrase and exact match. In the end you should have a keyword database that is both deep and broad and highly targeted.

Give me a comment – did I forget something?

I am sure you guys are doing this Google Adwords routine in a different way – because not one way is the ultimate way.

How Important Is Your Facebook Status? More than Eight hundred million people update their status on Facebook on a regular basis; it’s fantastic to understand what is really associated with the status update.

The status update is only a method to share things

with fans and friends, whether it’s an idea, or perhaps a thought or statement that you may have. The update function enables people to post for sharing content with other people. Status updates are shared or posted on the wall of the friends and other users, while they’re also published in the

feeds of the friends.

The Facebook status is among the crucial fun options on the social media major web site. Its not just enables users to get recent details about the fun-based activities of your family and friends; however the information can be distributed to everybody else.

The status update may seem for a time wasting

process, that’s simply a banal activity, however a closer inspection, will demonstrate that they're a lot more to it.

The Five thousand friends that you have got, may not be thinking about that which you had in the morning, but when you’d French toast, the French-toast lovers would be intrigued, before you you’d be sharing ideas and recipes for making much better French toast, or where you can get the very best French toast in Florida.

There are lots of more options that can be made from the easy work of sharing.

The fun nature of numerous of the options, offer simple options for your friends to have interaction and share their feelings and thoughts in regards to what you’ve shared. Updates can be shared via a number of ways, which include texting from cell phones or personal computers, or through smart-phones and tablets.

Many folks have been seen to invest several hours updating their status and sharing stuff, a few as much as 50 plus times a day, but it’s mainly up to the people to figure out what is, and isn’t suitable.

Within the 18 to 34 yr. a group, a comparatively high number, reveal that signing to their Facebook page to update the status, is truly the final thing carried out during the night, and also the primary thing completed in the morning. How much time invested updating your status is much more apt to be identified by the objective of the update.

Having a free service, there’s apt to be excessive use as well as abuse. Recent surveys show that Americans invest collectively several hundred thousand years, every month on Facebook. This number,

if appropriate, is incredible, however you will find activities, apart from updates, that account for

having an amazing duration.

An apparently sensible query is whether we’ve become much more productive, or added more quality, when a great deal of time is put in a particular situation.

Successful SEO Depends on Communication Let me expand on that title; successful SEO depends on teamwork. This isn’t just limited to in-house teams however. It includes clients working seamlessly with their suppliers as well. If this is ignored, it can lead to a failed

SEO campaign.

I’ve found this out the hard way in the past and have recently avoided a similar scenario. What was the cause of this? It can come from both sides of the fence, client and agency alike, but let’s look at the possible scenarios.

Neglecting Agencies

Agencies neglecting campaigns can happen and creates a bad name for SEO as a whole, leaving a bitter taste for companies when they merely hear the word SEO being uttered.

I’ve worked in both agency and client-side environments and experienced first-hand what it was like to have a SEO supplier neglect a campaign.

With no substance in their reporting and a cloak and dagger veil over their actions, I was clueless as to what they were doing on a monthly basis.

It was a concern for me because I had previously worked in an agency, which prided itself on transparency and clear reporting. It was obvious that this new agency, which was working for me had become too comfortable, mainly due to my predecessor not communicating enough with them and

managing expectations.

This is why it’s important to always push the bar and bounce ideas off agencies to make them know that you’re still interested. This means arranging calls and face-to-face meetings. In its simplicity, it’s merely maintaining relations. It’s surprising how far one phone call can go.

Neglecting Clients

This leads me on to the reason why agencies might neglect a campaign in the first place. Without the whip being cracked by clients, agencies can often sit back and get a little too comfortable if left to their

own devices.

On the other hand, it could cause a conflict of interest. An agency could be working really hard on improving the ranking of a keyword for months, only for the client to notice and say that it’s not part of their service. All that work down the drain, which could have been resolved at the very start.

How to Avoid Miscommunication

Regular reporting and meetings are a must, to make sure the campaign is on track. Monthly meetings

and weekly analysis reports for SEO and weekly reports for PPC are always good. It ensures the agency that the client is part of the campaign and is happy, while the client understands exactly what is going on.

If the results aren’t as expected, then at least the team can get together, analyze what actions they undertook and what they are going to do.

Page 72: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

So let’s remember; SEO isn’t a one-sided job. It requires the involvement of all parties to make sure everyone is happy.

11 Elements Your Landing Page Must Have The Definitive Guide to Optimizing Your Landing Page.

Do you know what makes a landing page a great landing page? What are the elements you need to think about?

So no more talk – this is a long article so you need some coffee – ready?

Call to Action

You would be amazed to see how many landing pages that doesn’t have a call to action. A call to action could be to sign up for a newsletter (like I

have here – so please sign up).

A call to action could also be to fill out a web form and of course to buy something on your landing page, or maybe you want your viewers to download a PDF.

Some tips about call to action is:

Be clear – tell the user what action he should take

Use only a limited number of calls to action – if you have too many calls to action, you will confuse the

user. Like download our PDF and remember to sign up for our newsletter and by the way you can buy this product now. This is not good right?

Uses of buttons – buttons are great if you want the user to click on something as a call to action, much

better than just a text link. (Hmm I have to change some of my calls to action)

Supporting information – some of the users might not be ready to do the action yet, they will need some more information about your product or service, so be sure it’s easy to find on your landing page

Read more - How to use call to action for your SEO

Headline

You have to create a powerful headline. The headline is the first element that the user will see – the user will focus on the headline to check your main message before putting the attention to the image (I know, sometimes it’s the image first)

The goal of your landing page is to make sure your visitor is staying on your landing page. So if I made

a Google Adword ad saying – Blue Cheap Cars – and when the visitor clicks to my landing site he will read – 11 elements you must have on your landing page – he will quickly leave my landing page again.

So spend some time thinking about your headline – is it really interesting enough to make the visitor curious enough to keep reading? (Well – if you are reading this, I guess my headline was good enough for this article).

Some tips for your headline:

Keep it short and direct – if it’s too long you have lost the attention from the user before he even

starts to read, he might just jump to the image instead

Get the users’ attention – if you make the user curious he might just have to keep on reading

Use relevant keyword – be sure you use a relevant keyword, it’s good for the user and good for your SEO

Simplicity

This is really important for your landing page – you need to make it simple for your user. If your landing page is too complex you will confuse the user and he might leave you right away.

So think about your use of colors, the use of images, the size of your elements on your landing page.

You don’t have to fill up the page with a lot of text and images – the use of white space on your page could make it simpler.

And if you have too many calls to action on your landing page you will again confuse the user.

Some tips about simplicity:

Every element should encourage the user to take the action you want him to

Have one primary call to action – you can have more calls to action – but be sure the user has no doubt about what you want him to do

Use the white space to make your landing page simple – this way your landing page will not look like it is cramped together.

The eye flow

Think about the eye flow of your landing page. The eye flow is the order in which the user will read or consume your information.

The reader will properly first get his attention to the headline, then the image (sometimes it is the other way around), and then maybe you have some colorful elements on your site. So when you

design your landing page think about the order in which you want the user to look, and design your

landing page to support that order.

A way you can check that is to use heat maps. You can install programs like ClickTale.

Use graphical elements like icons, arrows, images to direct the attention and the eye flow of your user.

Use high-contrast between your background and your elements. If you have a high contrast your elements will stand out much better and you can control the eye flow much better.

Some tips to the eye flow:

Sit down with a piece of paper and write down how you want the user’s eye flow. With that paper you can now design your landing page much better.

Use elements like arrows, icon and images

Use high contrast colors between elements and background

Relevance

Relevance is important for every single visitor that visits your site.

You will have to create a landing page for each of your campaigns. The key is relevance.

If your Google Adwords ad tells the visitor that you have a 40 percent discount this month – you better have a 40 percent discount on your landing page. If your ad says “40 percent off…” and then your landing page is saying “40 percent off…” then the visitor will find it very relevant to read the page right?

You could have different landing pages for a Facebook ad, Google Adwords ad and so on. You could make special discount codes and different call to actions depending on what website the user is coming

Page 75: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

from. This way you can also better measure how effective your marketing campaign is.

Some tips regarding reliance:

Create a landing page for each campaign.

Customize your landing page to each source of media

Reduce the risk of taking action

Your potential buyer doesn’t what to take too much risk buying from your web shop (or whatever your goal is).

He might be concerned about his security, his privacy and maybe of being scammed. So the question is

how can take some of the risk away from him.

Well you can do something.

Maybe you should offer him a guarantee that you will buy the product back if he is not completely satisfied.

Take a look at the questions you get from your customers – maybe many of them are concerned about the transfer of money, the time from the buying until they have the product or maybe about the security in general.

Some tips about reducing the risk of taking action:

Offer a compelling guarantee

Create a FAQ with the most common questions

A free trial (you could offer a free trial for 1 week if that is possible) or a low priced item to get started

Read more – Design to sell – 5 tips for your design

Scarcity

Scarity is a great psychological trick for the landing page. If you create a sense of scarcity you will tell your users that they have to be fast before you run out of stock. Or maybe the first 7 days they will get a discount.

So scarcity is a way that you will encourage your visitors to take action.

Some tips about scarcity:

Urgency – use a number of days when you write about scarcity.

Dynamic information – maybe you will only sell 200 items on your landing page – so you could make a dynamic count down saying “now only 24 left”

Trust elements

Most of your visitors might not know your shop or your products when they arrive to your landing page. So there is a an old saying when you are in the sells business:

“I don’t know you, I don’t know your company, I don’t know your product – and tell me why should I buy from you?”

You will have to create trust when people are coming to your landing page.

There are a number of ways you can do this – say that 50.000 people can’t be wrong, that you have 20.000 followers, 10.000 have bought your product, testimonials from previous buyers, positive

reviews, comments from blogs.

Page 76: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 76/159

If 10.000 people have bought the product you will trust the product right? And if 20.000 people are following the company on Facebook, it’s a trustworthy company.

Some tips about trust

Show your social data from social media like Facebook, Twitter and Google+

Local trust elements are always great – this will show everybody that you are real

Be honest about your testimony and reviews (no no no don’t let your girlfriend or mother write a testimonial)

The Perfect Landing Page

Now let show you how you can put all this information together into a great landing page. I found this awesome Infographic at Kissmetrics. So take a good look at it.

You don’t have to make your landing page like this one – but it can give you some ideas.

By the way I would also include a social sharing button on the page – even though I know you don’t

have too many different calls to action. But the social network these days is very important – for potential customers and for the SEO. That’s why the headline of this article is “11 Elements Your Landing Page Must Have” and not 10.

5 Things an SEO Expert Won’t Tell You No matter what kind of website you have lingering in cyberspace, you may not be happy with the traffic that it’s receiving.

You could have the best website in the world but if you’re not doing the appropriate SEO work, your

website is just going to sit there and collect cyber dust.

Now while you may not have the time to learn about SEO, and that’s understandable, I wanted to let you know of some things that an SEO pro may do that they won’t tell you:

#1 SEO May Not Be Worth It

There are millions of websites out there that are trying to sell you something.

Now, what you may find is that your SEO efforts may not be worth it if you’re selling something that doesn’t have a lot of demand. For example, let’s say

that you’re selling pink scarves and that’s it.

According to the Google Keyword Estimator, pink scarves get around 8,000 broad hits in a month. To play it safe, let’s say that you can dominate 5% of that market share, which would be 400 hits a month. At a 2% conversion rate, that would be 8 sales a month.

Now, let’s say that each one of your sales is worth $15 profit to you. If you’re paying more than $120

per month for the pink scarves keyword, you’re probably paying too much!

This is why it’s so important to crunch your numbers before hiring a company to make sure that it’s

worth it. Remember, all results will vary.

#2 Our Links May be a Temporary Fix

Backlinks are a huge part of any SEO efforts. After the recent Penguin and Panda updates, it’s so important that you know how these experts are gathering your links. Are they posting useless comments on 1,000 blogs?

Are they using sleezy services that may get you banned? You have to make sure that you know exactly

how they are going to get links. If this company is using shady tactics, they could put your virtual future at risk!

#3 Yes, We’ve Done Some Damage in the Past!

With any service out there, you may find that some companies have a very bad reputation but they do a good job at hiding it.

While it may be hard to find out what they have done in the past, it doesn’t hurt to search for reviews.

So let’s say that you wanted to sign up with “ABC SEO Company.” A simple search such as, “ABC SEO Company reviews” could bring up some potential results.

#4 We’re focusing on Fast Results and Money

We all know that most of us out there have no patience and since the SEO game is a rather slow one, some companies will do whatever it takes for you to see great results.

Page 80: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 80/159

With those fast results will come fast money, but what happens when the results disappear and you get banned?

Well! The company will ask for more money, of course! You have to understand that building a website and SEO empire is going to take months, if not years.

If any company states that they can show you results in days, it’s probably best to second guess their tactics.

#5 Let’s Go For the Big Keywords

Taking that pink scarf example above, let’s say that you do decide to sell your scarves. Well, what most SEO companies will see is that, “Wow! Building keywords for pink scarves will be relatively easy.”

Once you rank, you probably won’t want to spend more money. Well, what you have to understand is

that some companies may want you to target larger keywords that would cost more money such as, “scarves” or “scarves for sale.” Again, make sure that these keywords make sense!

By asking questions and knowing the company you’re working with, there’s no reason you can’t find a

legitimate SEO company. There are a lot of great ones out there, so make an effort to interview a few before signing the dotted line.

Top 5 Advanced eCommerce SEO Techniques that Works

Search engine optimization is critical for any eCommerce business. The only way to convert sales is to increase the number of hits your

site gets.

A good way to increase web traffic and the number of hits your site gets is to boost your ranking for the search engines.

Here are 5 advanced SEO techniques for your small eCommerce business.

Identify Keywords

You will want to make a list of all the keywords you think associate with your business. Once you’ve compiled the list, go back over it and check it against Google Analytics for search ranking.

Focus on the keywords that have the highest ranking but also less competition, so that you have

a chance to compete. These keywords need to be integrated into your website content.

Make Sure Your Website is Optimized

Web site optimization involves making sure the keywords you’ve identified are embedded into the

Meta data of your site. Additionally, you’ll want the individuals responsible for maintaining your site to be sure that links are maintained, the site is indexed properly, and there’s a site map.

If you don’t already have someone who’s familiar with these techniques, you might want to consider

hiring a contractor to give your site an SEO overhaul.

It will be worth the cost in the long run.

Start a Blog

Rich content is not only going to attract and keep visitors to your site, if it’s filled with keywords, it’s going to also improve your search ranking.

You will want to create blogs around the keywords with the highest rank.

Be careful not to keyword stuff, a term that refers to nonsensical text that is filling up a site strictly to

improve search rankings.

You want to intersperse keywords but keep your audience engaged and moving towards closing that sale.

Create a Back and Forth Flow with Social Media Sites

Make sure you have embedded social media buttons for Facebook, Twitter, and others on your website.

Page 82: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 82/159

You want to provide visitors with the ability to promote your website and business with a simple click of a widget/button.

These tools can be downloaded from their respective sites and placed directly into your site’s code.

Additionally, you will want to promote your blog, content, and products on social media all while providing links back to your site.

Traffic flowing to and from social media has become a focus of Google’s latest search algorithms and will really boost your search ranking.

Think About Localizing Your Keywords/Business

Competing with huge, multinational corporations for page rank on the search engines is an exercise in futility.

You might, instead try and focus on a region, city or location to capture related searches and improve your page rank.

Instead of “tool sales” try using something more specific like “Northeast tool sales” or even “Boston

tool sales.”

After applying these techniques, you are certain to see an improvement in your search ranking and web traffic.

It’s recommended that you utilize some sort of reporting or analytics for your site’s traffic so that you can constantly tweak keyword usage, site content and different strategies.

SEO is not an exact science and should be a constant work in progress.

What SEO Strategy is Google Friendly? A Needle in a Haystack?

In the modern world, marketing yourself online is vital. Research shows that when someone who has access to the internet needs something, they search for it on the web. The percentage that does so

depends on the product, but it is roughly between 70 per cent and 95 per cent.

Sadly, if you are a company or sole trader with an online presence, you are one of hundreds or, in some cases, thousands of firms trying to be found online. The only way to ensure you are the one

people find is to get your SEO strategy right. Given

that over 66 per cent of all searches in the English language are carried out using Google, your SEO strategy needs to be Google friendly.

Beating the Google Algorithm

The problem is that Google is constantly moving the goal posts. They are continuously tweaking the algorithms they use to determine which website has

the information searchers are looking for. This means that an SEO strategy that is Google friendly today may stop working tomorrow.

The best tip is to seek professional help. A Search Engine Optimization (or SEO) specialist has a much better understanding of what works now than you could ever have.

However, if you are on a tight budget, you may not have any choice but to do your own SEO. Luckily, there are still strategies you can use that have worked for years and are not likely to stop working in

the future. There have always been certain things Google have rewarded.

Content is King

Google really does reward good content. Make sure that your website contains information that will really help your customers.

Try to turn your website into an authority site. Sites with plenty of pages relating to a subject automatically look important to Google.

However, be careful not to duplicate pages on your site. Google penalizes sites which have duplicated content on them.

Keep Your Site Fresh

Refresh your information regularly. Doing this ensures your site is up to date and gives Google’s bots new information to find.

Add video and images to your site. Google likes to see a balance between text and other information

on websites. Make sure you label videos and images using relevant keywords to get the most out of them.

The Role of Keywords

The phrases you use on your website are what tell Google’s bots what your site is about. You need to sprinkle each page of your website with relevant phrases known as keywords.

Page 84: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 84/159

However, use them carefully – too many on one page and Google will penalize you. Put your main keyword in your page title, first paragraph and last paragraph. That is enough for a 300-400 word page. For every additional 125-150 words, add another occurrence of that keyword.

The more pages you have on your website, the more keywords or phrases you can target without Google slapping your site down.

Linking Internally & Externally

Last, but not least, are links. Link the pages on your site to each other properly. Google likes it and people will stay on your site longer if it is easy to navigate. Get other people to link to your website.

However, when it comes to backlink quality is far, far more important than quantity. The likes from Facebook, Google+ links and other social links are very powerful, so target them.

Is SEO Web Designing Really Responsible To Get More Traffic?

A number of people consider SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to be connected only to just content, however the most effective

internet sites incorporate SEO into just about every aspect from content, to their code, and even down to the graphics better known as SEO web design.

In graphics designing, you must recognize and use some basic website development for SEO

guidelines when constructing a website. If carried

out well, SEO and presentation design will harmonize with each other.

The driving force here is marketing, increased sales and a lot of traffic to your site, since every website owner wants their site to be Google’s numerouno.

Planning Strategically

As with other websites, incorporating a wireframe for the site is where we can include the correct SEO.

Know what kind of site it will be (how-to support, publishing news, e-commerce, etc.) should be mapped out and well placed. The website should be user-friendly for the clients, and for the web designer having the flexibility to change or update the site should be implemented.

Editing on the fly and ease of content insertion must be kept in mind in the construction. And after

which, SEO tactics will come to play, such as placing keywords and content material.

SEO Content and Image

SEO is all about making sure that the majority of people will find your site. It will heavily rely on the keywords you are placing. Spider crawlers that most search engines use, will look for relevant content material and it will be indexed, so that it is served to its target audience.

Obviously, critical keywords should be on every page. Putting it on the title tag, URL, and on the

headings will reveal your site to those search engines. As proposed above, even images can also be given a dash of the SEO magic, although images are invisible to search engines, by putting text on the caption it will be searchable as an image result and will help your visitors to navigate your site easily.

Continuing SEO

When everything is solid and off the ground for your site, it should not stop there. SEO is a cycle that must continue, and improvement of the hits and miss should be observed. In this ongoing phase there

are other initiatives that can be considered to increase more traffic to the site.

Social Media Traffic – an integration of social media to help build the community on your brand. This the best way to market and sell your content.

Link Building – a technique like reciprocal linking to other sites is yet a sure fire method to get more traffic to your site. By sharing high quality content to another website. Acquiring the optimum quantity of inbound links directing to the site boosts its search results on Google’s ranks. Just make sure that it

contains relevant keywords or any combination of keywords.

Tracking visitors – it helps to ensure that analytics is set up on the site to track your progress

Page 88: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 88/159

Site Upkeep – Fine tuning the layout or tweaking the design is required to keep the system on track.

Keep in mind these few simple things to increase visibility of your website. Web designing with SEO in mind doesn’t mean you have to let go of those pent up creative juices. You can still have an electric and dynamic site that can engage the user.

In the end, combination of SEO and graphic design must be about delivering great content and design that supports a sensible venture for the readers.

Tips to Get More Traffic by Using StumbleUpon StumbleUpon is a social media bookmarking site, and as such it does not respond to SEO or other techniques of social marketing to generate traffic.

It is a closed system where user participation

determines outcomes. Heavy users of StumbleUpon thumb up or down a lot of content, and that allow the system to understand their demographic better and associate users within a certain niche.

Be an Active User

1. Participate in the community and spend time thumbing up or down websites you discover while there. StumbleUpon uses your thumbs up to help find your niche.

2. Make friends with those who share similar tastes since StumbleUpon shares content with your friends within a niche. This will encourage people to

follow you and that will increase the chance they will stumble upon your own content.

3. Contribute content to the website. Eventually, those who are in your niche and follow you will discover your content. This leads to traffic

generation.

Buy Traffic

StumbleUpon lets you influence their recommendation system with advertising sold at five cents for every stumble.

There is a lot of advertising on the site, so it is not considered spam, but StumbleUpon users may

thumb down your content if it seems too blatant an attempt to influence them.

The more users thumb up content, the more it appears to other users, thereby generating traffic

to the site, but the reverse is true for content that receives a lot of thumbs down.

Wait until an especially poignant piece of content is in your possession then use advertising to help more people stumble it.

Be a Follower

User ratings and their friends’ ratings help StumbleUpon form a collaborative view of the websites in their system. Users will only see content approved by people in their niche.

1. Follow those who seem like they might like your content, since the more StumbleUpon associates you with them, the greater the chance they will see your content.

2. Follow those who said they liked your content by giving it a thumbs up.

Page 90: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 90/159

3. Follow those the system suggests for you since they are showing similar demographics to you.

4. Follow those who follow you. This is a bit of courtesy, but also a good way to build followers. If they follow you, then there is something that interests them.

Google’s Launches Disavow Links Tool Google ramped up its fight against spam by releasing its new Disavow Links tool.

Announced at the Las Vegas Pubcon convention, this new tool allows webmasters – those that have a Google Webmasters Account – to report and

possibly get rid of bad or spammy links to their website, links that could be hurting their SEO rankings.

These links are reviewed by Google and, if found to be spam, could face removal from Google search results.

While Google recommends the use of Disavow Links

only in last-resort situations, it could do a lot to improve the web as a whole, cutting down on bad SEO practices, improving search results for users and helping webmasters improve their own organic search rankings.

What it is

The Disavow Links tool is essentially a reporting system for bad URLs and links. Essentially, webmasters are able to submit a list of links to their site that they believe are spam, unnatural, disreputable or otherwise bad, and Google will consider removing them from search results. Typically, removing bad links will take at least a few weeks.

The tool is intended to be the final straw in a webmaster’s attempt to have a bad link removed. Google recommends contacting the webmaster of the spam link’s domain to request removal before using the

Disavow Links tool.

Disavow Links was likely created in response to Google’s latest Penguin algorithm update which, instead of turning its head to bad or spammy links when determining a site’s search ranking, actually uses those links as a strike against the site.

Why to use it

Many websites have been hurt by the Penguin update. Past link building campaigns may have resulted

in a number of URLs and links that now hurt, rather than help, the site’s ranking in Google. The Disavow Links tool offers a road to a clean slate for those websites.

Whether the links were the result of a bad SEO practitioner on behalf of the site itself, or if they were paid links, the Disavow Links tool can help remove those is webmasters are unable to leverage the

removal themselves.

The tool can also help if webmasters believe someone may be creating negative SEO against them, either to hurt a business or to direct traffic away to another site.

Additionally, Disavow Links can help clean up a site’s image in search results. Users will no longer see confusing or spam-related links when searching, links that could affect their view of the site or its reputation.

How to use it

To use the Disavow Links tool, you first must have a Google Webmasters account.

From there, you’ll need to select your website and upload a text file. The file should list each individual

Page 92: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 92/159

URL you’d like to see removed or investigated on a separate line – no commas, or semicolons.

If you’d like to have a whole domain removed, you simply need to use “domain:XX.com,” instead of a direct URL.

According to Google, it could be a number of weeks before links are removed and, even then, there’s no guarantee they will be. Google reserves the right to use its own judgment in removing links from search results.

Google representatives say it’s important to be careful when using the Disavow Links tool. Accidentally

disavowing an important link to your site could severely affect site health and, while the links can be reinstated upon request, it could take another few weeks for the process to be complete.

How to track your traffic from social media with Google Analytic

Do you know which pages your visitors from Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or Google Plus are looking at?

Do you know how long time they are staying on your pages? Which one of your social media has the highest bounce rate?

The traffic from social media is growing so fast these days – I have around 33 percent of the traffic to Seocustomer.com coming from social media.

So now it’s time to get some knowledge about our

visitors from these sources.

So are you ready to take a Google Analytic trip here?

I want to show you how you can use Google Analytic to get all this information.

I will use my Twitter statistic but you can use Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn

or any of your social media.

Referral Reports

This is the easiest way to keep track of your visitors.

Just log into your Google Analytic account – click Traffic Sources – Sources – Referrals Report. Easy right?

If you don’t see Twitter among the first 10 referrals, you just have to search “twitter”, using the inline filter you see at the top of the table above.

You can also use the advance segment. Click “+New Custom Segment”. Give your segment a name like “Twitter Segment”, and “include”, “source”, contain “t.co” (this is the referral link from twitter).

Page 94: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 94/159

Now make another segment for your Facebook the same way.

Now you can select both your Twitter segment and your Facebook segment and all of your

traffic.

Start by clicking your traffic sources, sources, all traffic to the left.

If you then click on the comparison view (at the arrow) you can get a picture like this one.

Page 95: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 95/159

Now you can compare all your traffic with the two segments you just have made.

Here at SeoCustomer.com my bounce rate last month was 70 percent. The bounce rate from Twitter was 76 percent and from Facebook 73 percent.

It’s also very easy to compare visits, page/views, avg. visit duration and percent new visits. Handy right?

If you have a goal on your website (and you should always have that), you can check out which of the social media gives you most conversions.

Custom Reports

You can also track your visitors in another way on Google Analytics. If you want to know which pages

are shown for your visitors from the social media this is the way.

I can show you how much traffic I get from Twitter, which pages the visitors have seen and how many are new visitors (you have chosen between a lot of different dimensions and metrics).

So click on “custom reporting” at the top of your screen and “+new custom report”.

Page 97: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 97/159

Not so much fun right?

If I want to see the landing pages from my twitter visitors, I just add a new dimension “landing page”.

And now you will see this report here:

Page 98: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 98/159

So now I know which pages my visitors from twitter is looking at.

Standard Reporting

Now Google Analytic has also made a standard report about the social media traffic.

Go to “Standard Reporting“, “traffic sources“, “Social” and “sources“. Then you will see this next

image – where you also can check out the pages viewed

How Heat Maps Can Contribute To the Site’s Usability

During the earlier times in the internet era, web designs are pretty much complicated. For this reason, only a few and rich companies

are able to get this for their online exposure.

These days, websites are getting easier to create thus, small or even home-based businesses with websites are already a common sight in the online world.

This occurrence on the internet can only be

credited to the increasing advancements in the

internet technology.

Today, even the novices in web design and development can create a useful and functional web site.

With the availability of different online tools that will facilitate web design and the prevalence of different types of broadband where people can

access as many websites as they want, the hindrances in creating a website is declining

significantly.

Overview of the heat maps

Among the helpful tools that website owners can use to boost their site’s usability is a heat map.

It works on the premise that internet users tend to hover their eyes over specific areas of the website most of the time. A heat map, traces the path that a website visitor’s mouse cursor trails while going through a website.

The results of the heat map are exhibited through a sort of graphical data that is shown over the web page being analyzed.

The areas in the web page where the human eye or the mouse’s cursor frequents will display the colors red, orange or yellow.

The areas where people pay less attention will have the colors green or blue. On the other hand, areas that are not visited at all will not have any color.

How heat maps can contribute to a web site’s usability

From the foregoing, we can already have an idea on how web site owners can benefit from this online tool.

But to explain further, heat maps can do a great job of giving the web site owners a greater insight on

the website visitor’s behavior which websites can use to their advantage, even before putting the website in effect.

If heat maps are used while designing the website, the web designer can optimize the layout in such a way that will be favorable on the website viewers’ browsing behaviors.

Web designers can ascertain where to position advertisements or promo buttons in order to get the desired results.

Web site owners can redesign websites further to accommodate the website visitor’s expectations.

Page 101: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 101/159

There may be areas of the website that internet users frequent but does not have any hyperlink.

With a heat map, web site owners will have the chance to figure this out and make the most out of the frequently visited area by placing an ad or a link.

Website owners can also reduce their site’s unorderliness. Instead of placing links and ads all over the site to increase their chance of getting clicked, they can simply focus on the areas that are frequently visited.

Heat map options

Web site owners won’t have to worry about getting a heat map for their website since there are a couple of options available for this tool.

Right now, the popular options are Mouseflow, Crazy Egg, ClickHeat, Click Tale and Click Density. These

heat maps, except for ClickHeat which can be availed for free, offers affordable plans ranging from $5 per month to more advanced packages amounting to $990 per month.

These heat maps are easy to look for and if coupled with the necessary tools in facilities such as a

reliable and fast cable internet, a website will be having an excellent usability and profitability.

Fortunately, website owners as well as internet users can easily compare internet services with speed and pricing - www.broadbandexpert.com/cable/

Final Words

By using heat maps during the web site’s design and redesign, web site owners will be on their way to having a website that is optimized for their website visitors’ browsing behaviors. Furthermore, the

website will be having the usability feature which will make internet users look forward to it more often.

7 Great Remarketing Strategies Do you know about retargeting or better known as remarketing? This marketing tool is getting more and more important in Search Engine Marketing.

With the right remarketing strategy you can

retarget the people who might already be interested in your product and therefor get a much higher conversion rate than with your normal Adwords.

In basic it’s a way to tag visitors to your website and target them later on with some kind of advertisement at a later time. Typically you use the

Google Adwords Display Network to show your ads

on other websites, if the user has already visited your website.

It’s the same marketing principle you might be using already if you have a newsletter for your customers. Your customer has already visited your website, so he or she is interested in your product or service, and with a newsletter you can retarget the potential customer.

When the Remarketing started years ago, the businesses tried to retarget the people who almost

bought something from their website. Maybe they left the shopping basket just before buying something.

But now you can use a lot of different Remarketing strategies.

The Seven Types of Effective Retargeting

I found this awesome Infographic at Chango.com. Click the image to see it larger.

Page 105: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 105/159

The classic remarketing

This is good old fashion classic remarketing strategy. Typically you have had a visitor who started the sales funnel. When the visitor is loading the page, it will place a cookie right on the visitor’s computer.

Your remarketing campaign will check out the visitor’s computer to see, if the little cookie is on the computer. If it finds your cookie, it can show a banner ad.

Your ad is retargeting a person who has already been interested in your product and this will (almost

always) guarantee you a high click through rate (CTR) and you will get some high quality web traffic for a low cost.

Remarketing for excluding visitors

If your visitors are very unlikely to convert more than once to your product, it might be a great idea to exclude the visitors from seeing your ad, if they already have bought your product.

Maybe you only have one product (only one book in your web shop), or a very expensive product like a

car (and the customer will only buy one car right?) or can only use one iPhone.

Remarketing for profiling and upselling

If somebody has bought a car from you, they might later on be interested in buying some new wheels from you too. So if you have accessories or similar or related products you can use this strategy.

This could increase your CTR, and there for your quality score will get higher, and your cost per click

Page 106: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 106/159

will get lower. By the way remember that the quality score from Google Adword is calculated separately for the Google Display Network.

Remarketing for introducing new products

When it’s time to introduce a new product you may want to remind your customers that you have got this new product. Maybe it’s time for a replacement of their old product.

Using this strategy will ensure that you are targeting interested people in your online marketing

strategy.

Behavioral remarketing

This remarketing strategy is based on more advanced remarketing strategies.

You can choose between a lot of difference criteria’s

You have to visit specific pages on a website

Maybe your language setting has to be English (or Danish or Swedish)

Other technical details about your computer or browser

Your IP-address has to be from a specific country

Arriving from a specific homepage or campaign, URL,

Maybe have typed a specific keyword in the search engine

Or any combinations of all these.

You can use tags from other websites to decide if your banner is going to be shown or not.

Let’s say that somebody has bought an iPhone on a competitor’s website, and then your remarketing

strategy is “not to display your banner ad” if you are selling Android phones.

It is unlikely that somebody who has just bought an iPhone will buy an Android a week later (yeah yeah yeah.. I know it is possible but very unlikely right?)

You really have a lot of combinations – so you can target the customers and get only the customers you think will buy your products.

Good luck

I hope this could give you some inspiration for your next remarketing campaign. There are a lot of possibilities using remarketing. And with a little creativity you can try new ways to market your products.

Good luck with your remarketing campaign.

Are you SEO ready for Xmas? All over the world we are spending more and more money buying items from online shops. Did you know that in 2011 shoppers were planning to spend an average of 704 dollars on gift and seasonal items?

And online shoppers will spend about 22 percent more than shoppers in real physical shops. Take a look at this great Infographic from the guys atOutright.com. (Click on the image to see it larger)

Page 108: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 108/159

How to speed up your Xmas sale

To speed up your Xmas sale you will need to check out last year top selling products from your shop. Write down a list of the top10 in each category.

With this list you can try to get these products ranking as you can the last couple of months before Xmas. So you will have to work for your

Xmas sale maybe 2 to 4 months before Xmas right?

And be sure you have items enough for your Xmas sale – you don’t want to run out of stock in December right? I was just reading about LEGO they can’t produce as much as they can sell right now.

Research your keywords

Now it’s time for a little keyword research. Use the Google Keyword

Tool and check out the Xmas keywords for your business. Let’s say you are selling “cameras”. Type in “Xmas camera” and you will see a lot of other keywords that might good to use for your Xmas SEO. Maybe make a page for the keywords “Christmas gift ideas”.

So in the last 2 to 4 months you will have to create special pages, to build links to your new pages with blog posts, press releases, maybe create an Infographic (I hope you like the Infographic in this article). All

this takes time so be sure you have enough time to optimize for Xmas.

Some Dos and Don’ts for Xmas SEO

Here are some more ideas you can do to be Xmas ready

Send out targeted email campaigns

Add products to your shop which will appeal to people as great gifts

Be sure you promote the gift items on your homepage. If I was selling an SEO book I would promote it as “a great gift for all SEO

people”

Remember to use your Twitter, Facebook and Google+ accounts for promotion your offers and campaigns – and remember to interact with

your potential customer

Increase your Xmas sale with coupons and vouchers

You should create new ad groups in your PPC campaigns where you can focus on Xmas gifts (don’t use or change your normal ad

groups)

Offer something extra for your customers – like a free gift Xmas wrapping or free shipment just in December (this could speed up the sale)

Show the customers that they can order a “Shipping to a different

address” and that the prices will not be displayed.

Page 109: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 109/159

But there are also some Don’ts

Don’t change your H1 tags (Xmas should not have a negative effect on your ranking)

Don’t change all your home page content to one big Xmas homepage (and be careful with your content because of your SEO ranking)

Don’t make any major updates or make a new website at Xmas time.

No no no… don’t replace all your text with a Xmas banner (because of SEO)

From all of us to all of you – Merry Xmas

Common Social Media Mistakes to Avoid Every business today, both large and small, uses social media as a marketing tool. However, there are specific ways to use the various social media platforms out there.

Are you utilizing your social media profiles to your

advantage? Make sure you’re steering clear of these common social media mistakes.

Letting People Find Your Blog On Their Own

You put time and effort into devising a blog post –

or maybe you paid good money to have a professional write it for you.

Either way, it’s a waste if you just let it sit there, waiting to be discovered. Use your social media outlets to boost traffic to your blog. Put Facebook posts and Tweets out every time you have a new post up. You can also link to older blog posts that are still relevant.

Pretending that Negative Comments Don’t Exist

When you open the door for feedback from your client base via social media, it’s pretty much ensured that some of that feedback is going to be negative.

Don’t simply delete a negative review and pretend it never existed. Part of customer service is dealing with unhappy consumers.

Handle negativity in a professional, kind and accommodating matter, even if it is only on your

Facebook page.

Skipping a Strategy

All too often, businesses start marketing via social media without a firm strategy in place.

This is like starting a business without a business plan. You may start off strong, but sometime in the very near future you’re going to get overwhelmed.

While it’s tempting to jump right in, do yourself a favor and devise a schedule first.

Spreading Yourself Too Thin

Sure, you can set up a free profile on every single social media website out there.

Spreading yourself too thin isn’t a good tactic, though. Choose three social media platforms that best suit your company. Is your business image-driven?

Make Tumblr or Pinterest one of the three. For the most part, make sure to include at least one or two of the social media dominators: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google Plus and YouTube.

Using Social Media Websites the Wrong Way

Be smart about how you post and where you post it. Follow these rules of thumb:

• Facebook posts with photos get a lot of attention. For text-only posts, asking a question or writing a fill-in-the-blank are good tactics to get responses. • Make Twitter hashtags work for you. This is the best way for people to find your posts even if they’re not connected to you yet.

Page 111: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 111/159

• In the description field for each “pin” on Pinterest, use keywords so that users can find photos they’re searching for. • Google Plus is relatively new. Try different tactics to see which works best for you.

The importance of building multiple tiers of links for your link building campaigns

When you are building links for your website, it’s extremely important that you utilize some of the features that SEO tools have to provide.

For instance, a lot of SEO tools today allow you to build multiple tiers of links for your link building campaigns.

Today, Google’s algorithm is extremely complex and in order to stay at the top of the search engines, you have to use link building strategies that are

going to be effective.

Building multiple tiers of links are a great way to do this. On the top tier, you should have your highest quality links, linking directly to your money site. These links should be high in page rank and they should pack as much value as possible.

You should also be using unique content for these links, since spun content would likely get flagged

and possibly removed at the website that you posted it on.

By using spun content that doesn’t read well for first-tier links, your content will probably get noticed on the site eventually and taken down. This would leave your site vulnerable to the unnatural link penalty that Google often penalizes websites for when they have links that continuously go down.

On your second and third tier links, you don’t have to be nearly as careful. On these tiers, you should

be building links in volume and the quality of the links does not have to be as high quality as it was with your first tier.

Below you’ll find some things that you can do to build multiple tiers of links in an effective way, so that your search engine optimization campaign will be successful.

Focus on high PR links on tier 1 A good way to focus on building higher-quality links for your tier 1 link building efforts, would be to

only build links on high page rank domains.

PageRank always has been and still is today a good way to determine the value of the website. As a website ages and develops backlinks and search engine rankings, its PR will increase.

Therefore, you can use page rank as a conclusive determinant for the value of that website. Web sites

that have a page rank of at least three are considered to be fairly valuable.

They should have a good amount of backlinks, possible search engine rankings and the age of the domain should at least be older than a year. You can experiment with these factors yourself by

researching into the backlink count and the age of the domains that you find with high PR.

Quality is still important in tier 2 Tier 2 links don’t have to be an entirely high page rank, but you still need to retain a high level of quality among these links.

Your tier 2 links are directly going to affect your tier 1 links, which will affect your money site. If you

build high-quality links on tier 2, you may increase the search engine rankings of your tier 1 links, which will be very beneficial to your money site.

Page 113: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 113/159

Tier 3 Tier 3 links are where you can build links in mass numbers, without having to really worry about the quality. You can use software like Scrapebox to do blog comments, XRumer for forum profiles or you can even make use of social bookmarks, web 2.0’s, wiki sites and lots of other types of free submission platforms.

How to Own the First Page in Google And to get rid of bad customer reviews.

If you check out how you get the most visitors to your website, you will discover that most people are searching for your brand or your company name. And you are properly numbered one when

people are searching your name or brand right?

But what will happen if an unsatisfied customer shows up as number 2 in your ranking?

I will tell you what happens. The unsatisfied customer is not the only unsatisfied customer you

have – you might have 200 or 500 unsatisfied customers. Let’s say you sell to 100.000 people

every year. Then 500 unsatisfied customers are not so many.

This unsatisfied customer has made a blog – telling the world have bad your company is.

Well the first thing that will happen is that more of unsatisfied customers will discover the blog and they will like the blog, they will link to the blog. And

suddenly this unsatisfied customer has a strong number 2 ranking on Google when somebody is searching your brand name.

Even journalists are researching on Google – and they will find this website with bad reviews. Maybe

your company will end up in the evening news.

And by the way – this is a true story from a travel agency in Denmark!!

Well – lets stop this from happening.

It’s time for you to own the first page on Google. This way the unsatisfied customer will never rank number 2, he will therefor never get many likes or backlinks and you have saved your business.

So let’s take a ride on the brand reputation guide.

Your ultimate goal of this brand reputation is to gain control over the first 7 Google search listings. This way negative review from your customer complaints

are pushed to the second or even third page of Google.

And why 7?

Look at the image here. I am searching for “SeoCustomer”. Most of the time Google will add some extra links for the first result. So there is only space for 7 websites on the first page. So 7 is your magic number.

I am trying to get rid of SeoMoz because they are

ranked number 2 when I search for SeoCustomer.

Page 115: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 115/159

A website can only have one result in a search

Your website can only have one result in a search on Google. So if your brand is named “Sandberg Delicious” you will properly rank number one with your normal website.

So you will have to sign up for some more websites.

Begin your brand reputation by signing up for a Facebook and a Twitter account – and remember to include your brand or company name. These social media will surely be high ranking in Google listings.

But of course it’s not enough to just sign up for accounts. You will have to generate some great content.

The accounts that have fresh content and post regularly will rank much better and this way you will get a high position.

So with your website, Facebook and Twitter you will now own the top 3 positions right? So we are not all done yet.

Video, pictures and blogs

You properly have some videos for your homepage – so of course you will make a YouTube or a Vimeo

account for your videos. In fact Vimeo often ranks much better than YouTube – believe it or not (and don’t ask me why). This was number 4.

A lot of the time Google will choose to show pictures on the first page too.

So go to Flickr and make an account too. Be sure you have your brand name in the account name – and write some tags for your pictures including your brand name too.

When Google is showing image results on the first page it shows only one picture from each website. Normally Google will show around 5 pictures. So be sure you are using pictures on your blog, website

and Twitter accounts. This was number 5.

Number 6 here is starting a blog.

Starting a blog is a great way to get into Google top 10 but it’s a time consuming one.

But remember you have some content from Facebook and Twitter, so use some of the same content on your blog. Your blog will have a different web name then your website. So it will rank separately. And by the way – Google loves WordPress – so use WordPress for your blog.

And you do have a Google+ account for your company too right?

If not get one now. This can also bring you a top 7 position.

Congratulations.

You now own the first page on Google. And you will push all the bad reviews to the second page.

All the best to you, Henrik

How to Use Social Media for SEO Purposes There are lots of speculations about Social Media. Many feel that it might take the place of Search engines. There are people who feel that search engine optimization practices are gradually fading away.

On the other hand, some of them still believe that Search Engine Optimization has a long way to go. Whatever said and done, it has to be agreed that both have their own places in the industry and you can never say that one is better than the other.

When you make your presence felt in the industry,

it will definitely have a positive impact on your

Search Engine Optimization results.

Let’s take a look at some of the facts related to search engines.

Tweets have become an integral part of Google’s search results. For instance, when you search information for a particular topic, Google will pull all the Tweets that are related to the topic

Search Engines have started viewing Social Media sites more frequently. If you post any new information on your social networking site such as Facebook, chances are that Google will be viewing

the information within an hour

Google trusts all the top rated Social Networking Sites and it ranks them accordingly

Here is a list of some of the Social Media sites that improve Search Engine Optimization

LinkedIn - It is one of the Social Media that is dedicated to professionals and business owners. If you

own a company, your employees can sign up for an account and start networking with people. After registering yourself, you need to select “Account and Settings” option which will be seen at the top of

the page.

Select “My Profile” on the page and it will lead you to another option “Websites”. Choose the “Edit” link option. It will lead you to a different page where you can make changes to your Web sites. Now choose the “Other” button and start describing the site that you want to link to. It is also possible to link internal pages to the site.

Facebook - Using this social media you will not only be able to create your own personal profiles but you can also create fan pages. Just make sure that your profile contains all the necessary information

such as websites and more. The appropriate keywords have to be inserted as well. Introduce your sites and products to the audience in the form of brief descriptions.

As far as fan pages are concerned, you need to make sure that blog posts are posted frequently. That makes it easier for your contents to get displayed on search engines when viewers look for them. It is

better to use Networked Blogs applications which assist you to post the blogs on your Facebook wall. Also keep in mind that your profile needs to be made available to the public.

information for sharing with people who follow your profile. Irrespective of the type of content, you can share it with umpteen users around the globe.

It has a huge reach. Google has recently started to index tweets and it has proved to be beneficial for people who are trying to post their content through Twitter. Make it a point to use URLs that aren’t shortened because actual URLs are considered more relevant.

Tips and Tricks to Generate Leads through Social Media

Social media should be one of the major pillars of your online marketing campaign.

Without social media marketing, your website will

remain stagnant.

Before you jump into the world of social media marketing, consider these need-to-know tips and tricks to generate leads through social media:

Use Social Media sites that your Customers use

Spending your energy and money on marketing with every single social media website available will not help you generate more leads.

A great deal of research should be done about your market base and what social media websites that they use on a daily basis.

In general, if you are offering business-to-business

services, LinkedIn is a widely used platform that you should consider.

Facebook and Twitter can be used as secondary outlets, depending on your customer base and the

products or services that your business offers.

Content is always King

Social media advertising is pointless without quality content for your potential clients to read.

Make sure your website’s content is updated on a regular basis.

Well written blog posts, especially those that can be shared by your readers are essential to your success in the social media world.

Google+ is Important

Ever since Google+ was launched in 2011 as a social networking competitor to Facebook, the platform has been growing in popularity month after month.

Even though Google+ has not gained as much of a foothold in the social media world as Facebook and Twitter has, it is still an essential social media outlet that every business should utilize for the sole purpose that Google actively integrates their social media platform with search engine results.

Google+ is actually a very easy platform to use.

Business owners and website developers only need to create a page with Google+ and link any content created on Google’s social media platform back to their website.

Space out your Social Media Posts

While your social media fans may be interested in your business, it’s not something that they think about all day long. Creating quality, content-rich blog posts for your leads to read twice a week will get your message across and keep them interested without having an overwhelming affect.

Top Big 3 Images Sharing Sites There are a lot of image sharing sites on the internet. To use an image sharing site is a great way to build up some backlinks to your site. So you should start using one – today.

A Google search will only show you one link to a

website in a search. So if you tag your images you’re your brand name and company name and your relevant keywords, you might get another 2 results on the first page of Google.

Here you can read more about how to own the first page at Google.

I will show the big 3 – there are a lot more sharing

sites – but using one of the big 4 you are sure that Google check it out.

Let me go through these major sites, who they are appealing to and tell you about the benefits – so you can consider if you should start using one of them.

Pinterest

I am sure you have heard of this one. Pinterest is one of the most talked about social sharing sites for images.

Pinterest is a huge virtual Pinborad where you can

organize and share images.

Pinterest Pros

One of the greatest pros of Pinterest is the fact that it does outrank Twitter and YouTube in referral traffic. Yes you read correctly. So if you are looking

for new ways to get traffic to your site Pinterest will be a great way to do it.

The link on your Pinterest page is a do-follow link and this will benefit your SEO.

Visually Driven. Pinterest is visually driven and is based on sharing media like photos, images, video and Infographic. So you can use the content from your website and reuse them on Pinterest. This should be an easy transition.

Most of the visitors of Pinterest are women. Pinterest is comprised of 65 percent women and it’s stated

Page 122: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 122/159

that 85 percent of the traffic of Pinterest is driven by women. So if you have a product for women you should absolutely take a closer look at Pinterest. This could be a great way to drive traffic to your website.

Pinterest Cons

Pinterest is still a new medium and there are new for business. So until now Pinterest is only for fun. Visitors don’t have to worry about ads. But this might change in the futures. So get ahead of the game and start using Pinterest.

Copyright Issues. If you are sharing your own pictures and images you will have no problems. But – as with all social media – be careful not to share other people’s photos and images.

Where are the men? Yes – as I wrote before – mostly women are using Pinterest, so if you are trying to sell products or services to men Pinterest might not be the right place for you yet.

Instagram

Instagram is an Android and iPhone app where people can spice up their photos with a selection of filters. It has more than 80 million users who have uploaded more than 4 billion photos. And yes Facebook bought Instagram here in 2012.

This is also why it’s very easy to share Instagram photos directly onto Facebook. But it’s also easy to share on social media like Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr.

Users are able to like and comment on photos.

There are a lot of popular brands using Instagram like Red Bull, Audi, Starbucks, ASOS, NPR, MTV,

Forever21, Topshop, CNN iReport, General Electric, The Boston Celtics, Burberry, Playboy, The Onion, Puma, Sharpie, American Express, W Hotels, ESPN, Innocent Smoothies, The Boston Bruins, Billboard, Air Asia and Gucci. So you see it’s not only for young people but also for business.

Instagram has just launched web profiles. So you can get a dofollow backlink from your profile page.

How to use Instagram

Flickr

I am sure you have heard this name too. Flickr is one of the oldest photos sharing sites. It is an image and video website started back in 2004 and acquired by Yahoo in 2005. A lot of bloggers hosted

their images on Flickr and embedded the pictures in blog and social media.

In June 2011 Flickr had 51 million registered members and 80 million unique visitors. And in August 2011 Flickr had more than 6 billion images and still growing.

Photos and videos can easily be accessed from Flickr without the need to register an account, only if

Page 123: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 123/159

you want to upload some content you will need to create an account. You can also get an app for iPhone, android and Windows operating system.

Flickr can be very easy to use, and you can use features like groups, tagging, commenting, geotagging, social sharing, printing, and statistics.

Google Trend and photo sharing sites

Take a look here at this Google Trend image where you can see the interest over time.

The number 100 represents the peak search volume. Pinterest is the blue line, Instagram the red line and Flickr is the line that starts back in 2005.

Have a great day out there,

AdWords Remarketing For Driving Traffic However interesting your online marketing campaign may be, at the end of the day, there’s only so much it can do.

It can certainly target your niche and bring in interested customers to your site, but it can’t

convert all the incoming traffic into sales.

The reason is, regardless of the attractiveness of your website, people may not tend to come back to your site even if they were interested in your products initially.

The fact that barely 2% visitors purchase products when they visit a site for the first time is proof

enough that every online marketing strategy needs to be thoroughly looked into.

The remaining 98% of visitors don’t make a purchase the first time they land on your webpage.

What can a marketing manager do to bring back these potential customers to the site once again to complete the purchase? How about a gentle

reminder or giving them a cue that can turn these potential clicks in to concrete sales? That’s where Google AdWords remarketing comes in.

What is AdWords Remarketing?

Remarketing is a feature in Google AdWords that

can help you reach out to those people who initially visited your site but left without purchasing anything.

With remarketing, you can connect to these people even when they visit any other site on Google

Display Network.

You can send certain compelling advertisements that can encourage them in coming back to your site

and buying the product.

How does Remarketing work?

Here’s an example of how remarketing may help in bringing more traffic to your site. Let’s assume you deal in the sale of antiques.

You know that 10% of visitors to your site will purchase your products. But the rest 90% visitors, although they were initially interested, leave your site without purchasing any product.

Now with remarketing, you can add a remarketing tag or a remarketing code to all your site’s pages.

Thus, whenever a visitor visits your site, he will automatically be added into your remarketing list.

You can now reach out to those 90% visitors who didn’t buy any product by showing them ads and offers’ that may entice them to come back to your site to buy even while they browse other sites.

Page 131: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 131/159

How can AdWords remarketing bring in more traffic to your website?

• Creating and managing AdWords remarketing list is very easy. • AdWords remarketing is a targeted advertising campaign that targets only those visitors who dint get converted into sales. • As Google has a huge partner list, your remarketing campaign has the potential to reach millions of customers. • It can target those visitors who were on the verge of making a purchase (those who discarded the

shopping cart!) before leaving the site without completing it. • Remarketing helps you connect with every visitor. It can also target those visitors who have completed a sale by offering them other products and special offers. • It helps you get in touch with customers within a period of time. • It helps bring in higher and faster return on investment. • You can create attractive and relevant advertisements and follow-up messages to target customers. • You can also control where your advertisement appears by limiting or increasing the number of

advertisements depending on that particular site's performance.

Social networks are the major contributors of huge referral traffic to a certain website.

fascinated the perception of many internet marketers and application developers to consider this technique to be more profitable.

These days, many people have been integrating such procedure for their business.

Since social networking sites are definitely here to continue, we will discuss a new website on the line

How to Use Slide Share to Gain More Traffic and Exposure?

Here are some ideas to drive traffic to your business by the use of Slide Share:

1. Convert presentations into electronic book (eBook)

By adding a story and a bit configuration, you can already convert your presentation into an interesting eBook. Smartphones and tablets have been making eBook a lot easier to read while on the run and Slide Share can help with that as well.

2. Make sure to place a call to action in your presentation

Take advantage of each chance to solicit Twitter follower, or an email subscription. Consider your presentations are a front-end advertisement that has to make a change.

3. Upload Regularly

As regards content marketing, the more you will have to give, then the more you will receive. Add a Slide Share eBook or presentation to your publishing calendar monthly.

4. Optimize

Slide Share includes a search engine that makes searching for a particular topic much easier. Keep in

mind that when there is a search engine, there is a need to optimize. Consider placing one or two targeted keywords as your presentation tags.

5. Promote your content

The Slide Share also has sharing buttons to share your contents. Requesting for a sharing within your content may influence a reader to click the retweet button. Make sure also that your LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter followers and friends knows that you have new contents available.

39 percent of search related traffic information from Google is now gone

Did you know that for over a year ago Google started to encrypting search by default for signed-in users?

I just found a study from Optify that shows that 39 percent of the searches related traffic from Google to our websites now is gone. Google will show the search terms as withheld.

Optify made a study with 424 websites with over 17,143,603 visits and 7.241.093 referring

keywords. This way they could check out how

seriously the “not provided” issue is.

What does it have to do with me?

So why should you care about all this? Well imagine you have a shop in a shopping center Normally you will approach your customers and ask them if they are looking for something special right? But then

one day you are told you can’t do this anymore.

You are only allowed to approach customers if they are specifically forthcoming and request help. Now you have lost the ability to proactively help your customers right? You will also lose

some valuable information and feedback about your

customers.

Google has started to encrypt search queries about 1 year ago. So now you will no longer receive “referrer” data from Google when the user is sign-in.

So you don’t really know what your visitors were looking for. Was it cheap dresses? Or quality

dresses? Secondhand dresses? Blue dresses? You don’t know. So you can’t tell if they found what they were looking for.

Maybe half of your customers from Google was searching for blue dresses – but you only have red dresses in your shop. Bad for you right? And now you will not know that your customer love blue dresses.

You have lost a lot of insights.

So a hot term now in search marketing is behavioral targeting. You will have to know what the customer was initially looking for.

But now you will need to rely on later user interactions. You can use log-in information, or cookie based personalized experience.

If you are in the B2B business you can still get a lot of great information from Google Analytic about who are visiting your website and which pages they are looking at. Check it out here. But it's getting

harder to know about the initial search term.

If you have a newsletter – which search term did they use in Google to find your website? This is a very useful information. But now it's getting harder to get.

What you can learn from your mother about SEO You might tell me that your mother knows absolutely nothing about SEO. But you are wrong. You can learn a lot about SEO from your mother.

So let me give some mother rules – ready?

No no – you don’t have to drink milk while reading this article – coffee is okay.

Play nice

These days everybody is talking about social media – yeah yeah I know I do that too. But link building is still very important to get higher ranking in the

search engines.

But with all the animals update from Google (why do I always get scared when Google is talking about animals?) A link is no longer a link.

If you link to bad sites – spammy site, porn sites – you might get punished by Google. The best backlinks to your site is from sites relevant to your

own site.

It’s like hanging around in a good neighborhood. Your mother wants you to play with the good guys in the best neighborhood. So link to the good guys

and get links from the good guys.

Listen to your mother.

So I would like SEOMOZ to link to my site (so dear reader if you are working at SEOMOZ please link to my site).

A mother will not use the black hat link strategy right? So play it nice out there – and think of your mother.

Your mother would do everything within the guidelines for best practices right? Don’t do any sneaky, underhanded or illegal business practices on the internet.

Your mother will do anything legal.

Network the motherly way

Maybe your mother has never had a Facebook account or a Google+ account (she has never been a Google employee) but you can still learn a lot about Social Media from her.

When I think about my mother – she is always talking on the phone (not mobile) to her friends, talking to the neighbors, going to the shops and talk to other customers in the shop. In fact she only stops

talking when she sleeps (hmm I hope she will not read this article).

So the lesson is that we have to engage in Social Media, we have to talk to our followers. It’s not enough just to make an account and start to do some marketing.

Ask some questions to your followers. Get to know them. Start to love them and they will love you back – and you can’t get love without any talk.

Page 137: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 137/159

Be good at school

Your mother will tell you to do your homework and check your spelling right?

If you do your homework you will be great writing content for your website. And if you have great content, people would love to link to your content. And backlinks to your website will give you higher ranking.

And after all the animal updates (grrr) it is more and more important with great content.

Your mother wants you to come in first place by playing fair, and the more interesting, compelling and

relevant your website is, the higher it will get in the search ranking. Concentrate writing great content and no black hats.

So you will ask me – article spinning – is that something my mother would like? No, your mother doesn’t like article spinning. Article spinning is trying to play games with Google right?

Yes yes yes – I know – check the spelling. English is not my first language for me – so it’s not always so easy (so sorry to all you English speaking guys reading this).

Remember Mother’s Day

And why does your mother want you to do better in your business? Because she wants a great present on Mother’s Day.

So if you are running a successful SEO marketing campaign, your business will do well. And if your business is doing well you can afford to buy her some flowers or chocolate right?

No more mother talk – I want my coffee now – no more milk here.

Popular Google Analytics Analysis Tools Have you analyzed your website with Google Analytics analysis tools?

Google Analytics is a free analytics service offered by Google that provides users with detailed statistics about visits to their websites. Google

Analytics analysis offers two types of statistical report – Standard Reporting and Custom Reporting.

While Standard Reporting of Google Analytics makes understanding the engagement of your website easier to measure, Custom Reporting lets you create super reports with all the information

you want.

You can organize the super reports as per your requirements and share it with your colleagues in minutes.

It’s not just this; it’s now easy to identify web pages with poor performance with Google Analytics Analysis. This is because the e-commerce reporting of Google Analytics tracks website activities like

performance and sales.

These e-commerce reports list out various transactions and revenue of the site along with metrics related to e-commerce.

Users are allowed to have 50 site profiles, each

corresponding to different websites. This service

also provides various basic analytics tools useful for marketing websites and search engine optimization purposes.

In short, Google Analytics analysis tools helps you dive into your website’s data in a few mouse clicks.

Here’s a list of popular Google Analytics analysis tools:

Real-Time reporting

Real-time reporting tool provides you with a continuous update that’s reported second after the occurrence of any visitor activity on your site. In other words, you get to monitor all the activities occurring on your site as it happens.

This reporting tool of Google Analytics allows you to check

The number of people accessing your website right now

The geographic locations of the people visiting your site

The sources that drove people to your site

The web pages of your site that people visited

When it comes to SEO, with Real-Time, you immediately get to know the effects of new campaigns and link building efforts and monitor your site’s traffic.

It’s also helpful in understanding your reader’s interests as it lets you know if any content on your website is viewed or not.

With Real-Time reporting tool, you can determine if any kind of one-day promotion can help generate

Page 139: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 139/159

traffic.

Advanced Segmentation

If you are looking for a tool to analyze and isolate specific traffic kinds, then try Advanced Segmentation.

For instance, you can create different segments for different kinds of traffic like purchasers visits, anonymous visits, paid members visit, etc.

After creating, you can view data for a particular segment or compare all the segments side by side. Talking about creating an Advanced Segment, it’s a filter expression that returns specific data using logical statements.

Custom Variables

Custom Variables report represents activities of your visitors in different custom segments you created. Actually, Custom variables are name-value pair tags with which you can apply newly defined additional

segments (created by you) to your website’s visitors.

There are three different types of Custom Variables:

Page-level Custom Variables:

This is used to define activities of your users in different page levels. In case you are using it with an online newspaper, you get to know on which page the visitors stay for a long time and which pages they skip.

Session-level Custom Variables:

This type of Custom Variable can be used to distinguish visitors’ experiences across different sessions.

For instance, you can differentiate members’ visits from anonymous visitors if you have the custom variable tool scoped to the user login session level.

Visitor-level Custom Variables:

This is used in distinguishing different types of visitors across various sessions. This can be of great help to websites that allows only paid members or subscribers to access premium content as it

analyzes all the users and separates paid members from those using free service.

That’s not all; you have many more popular tools like Visualization, Dashboards, API and Customizations and Sharing. Apart from these, you have effective tools for Content Analytics, Mobile Analytics, Social Analytics, Advertising Analytics, Conversion Analytics, etc. Check out various tools and analyze your website to know what your visitors want from you.

SEO vs. PPC – How to know which one is right for your business?

Who says there is competition only in business field! Well in the world of internet these days it’s a battle between Search Engine

Optimization (SEO) and Pay per Click (PPC).

As per the research made around 90% of the people who uses internet use various search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo and MSN to get information on the products and services which they are looking for.

Almost everyone who searches for information type

a keyword which is also known as Keyword which helps search engines bring up the required results which have natural organic listings also consisting of PPC advertisements.

But the bottom-line is not about the battle and who wins! It’s a question of which one would suit your business requirements. Keep reading the article for

more details.

You need to pay to attract traffic to your website with the help of PPC advertising programs which are provided by Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing etc.

These tools would help you to display your

advertisement in sponsored section whenever the result related to your website is displayed. You would need to pay a certain amount of fee every time the user clicks on your website link. The amount however depends on how strong are your keywords.

On the other hand you could also attract more

traffic to your website for free by getting high rankings in the natural listing results. Natural listing results are the results which are shown next to the sponsored sections.

All you have to remember is that you follow the SEO practices in an appropriate manner so that your website results appear on the first page more often whenever the visitor keys the words related to your product or services.

There may be some circumstances when your website might take some time to reach on the top of the

page but then again the free, directed traffic would most likely be worth the deal.

But the question is which tactic is much better? To answer this question I would say it entirely depends upon the budget. If you have a huge budget go for PPC but if you are looking to save money by investing a little than SEO is better.

How much is my budget?

Before choosing SEO or PPC, you must first know how much you are going to invest in advertising your business on the web. It can be a good idea to start with a minimum amount of $5 to $10 per day set as your daily spending limit.

On the other hand if you have a very little budget than SEO is the best option. If you ask me I would

Page 141: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 141/159

say even if you have a little capital to invest go for PPC as it offers various benefits like faster testing and guard from SEO algorithm updates.

What are the CPC rates for my business?

Secondly, it depends on how are the CPCs for your industry. PPC allows the users to bid on how much they are ready to pay for a single click which is known as cost per click (CPC).

For instance if you are targeting people who are looking for “Cleaning industry services” you can make

use of online software called Traffic Estimator which is a free Google External Keyword Research Tool.

You would see that the average CPC for this keyword is $2.76. On the other hand average CPCs can sometimes run as high as $30 thus making it difficult for your business to gain profit from PPC which means SEO is a better choice.

To conclude SEO and PPC can both be powerful. Last but not the least! Always make sure you get regular updates about Google’s policies as they change every now and then which means if today your website is on page 1 who knows tomorrow it might land up to page 6 of the page.

Successful Link Building: What about Link Exchanges

Within this article you will find the answer to a few questions about link building. Link building is one of the fastest ways to get your

website indexed, and one of the fastest ways to get your website ranked higher in the search engine results pages.

It is also one of the most misunderstood SEO concepts, and misinformation on the subject has led to a lot of people being punished needlessly by

search engines.

This article will clear up that confusion so that you can run a successful link building campaign.

What is link building?

A link in the online world is a function that allows one person to move from one web page to another. It is something that a web user clicks and it will

take them to another web page.

This web page may be on the same website, or it may be on a different web page. The link may be an image or it may be textual. It may open the page on the same tab; it may start a new tab or may

start a new window (the latter being referred to as

a pop-up).

The more links that you have pointing at your website, from other websites–the better. If other websites link to you–the search engines will take that as a sign that your website is a good one, and will rank you up in their search engine results pages.

So getting more links is sometimes a good thing.

What is successful link building?

This is where you gain strong links that last a long time. They are links to your website from related content or related websites.

Those links are strong if they have anchor text, which works well for your website (is related). They are good links if they last a long time, and are great links if they are from websites with a higher PageRanking than yours are. Having all of these elements throughout your links would be considered

successful link building.

Are one-on-one link exchanges good?

Yes, they are–they are not advised by Google, but they are a safe and controlled way of getting good strong links pointing at your website.

All the other methods of link building are not as safe or productive.

Page 143: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 143/159

Are link exchange programs good?

No, they are not good. They are heavily monitored by the search engines staff and offer no real SEO benefit in the long run.

They are a short-term fix that may get you in trouble with the search engines.

Is there a safe way to increase link numbers?

You can swap links, or link from your blog. You can post articles online and link from them and you can

guest post on other peoples blogs.

You can pay for legitimate directory links from relevant websites, and you can add links from comment sections on other websites.

There are quite a few safe ways of getting links to your site.

How many links do I need?

Google your site and look at your competition. You need roughly the same amount of links that they

have.

Do not go build substantially more links than your competitors do, because it will be viewed as suspicious.

Can I be banned from Google for too many links?

Yes, you can. If you have too many links, Google will investigate into where they have come from.

If they have come from link farms, comment spamming, or other similar Black Hat SEO places, you will

be banned from being listed on Goggles search engine results.

How do I make people link to me of their own free will?

Offer a good service, or a great online tool, entertainment or high quality information. If people like your website, they will link to it of their own free will.

Can I get any traffic from links?

Links have a nice bi-product of being able to send you traffic from other sites. This is called direct traffic because it comes from one site to you, instead of people going through a search engine.

Direct traffic is hard to gain, but worth the effort because the users are often very interested in what is on your site, because they have just come from a related/similar site.

3 Ways to Make Your Facebook Fan Page SEO friendly

Social networking has become an essential marketing process for almost all varieties of businesses.

Nowadays, if you do not have a certain degree of presence on the various social networks, you run the risk of losing out on valuable clients.

Other than providing exposure to your brand, a well-planned and maintained fan page on Facebook can boost your SEO popularity.

If you have been hosting a Facebook fan page for

some time, without much SEO optimization, maybe you are going wrong somewhere in collating the content of such a page.

Here are three solutions, from a leading Orlando internet marketing house, which will help you to resolve this issue of inadequate Facebook marketing.

1. Link Your Facebook Fan Page to Other Sites

If you take a cursory look at some of the most popular eCommerce websites on the internet, then you will most probably come across a link to a

Facebook fan page.

Such a link may call you to ‘like’ a product on

Facebook, or it may simply claim to be working towards better communication between the company and its clients. Yet, there is a hidden agenda too, that lies behind these links.

Leading search engines, like Google, are more likely to favor a Facebook fan page that has many backlinks attached to it. This makes the search

engines recognize a fan page as authentic, and reliable.

Thus, by connecting the content of your Facebook fan page to more and more blogs, websites, and other social network accounts, you will ensure a higher ranking for your page.

2. Plan Your Status Updates To Make Them Popular On Search Engines

It is a little known fact that Facebook treats the first 18 characters of your status updates, and other posts, to be a meta-description. So, take advantage of this fact, when you are composing the

substance of these posts on Facebook.

You may include keywords, or even provide links to your allied websites, in such meta-descriptions.

You must also bear in mind that the first word of your status update is the most important, as far as SEO focus is concerned. So, put good thought into it.

3. Don’t Ignore the Power of Facebook Notes

As a Facebook fan page consists of all the important content for marketing a brand, most page

Page 145: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 145/159

administrators choose to overlook the ‘Notes’ section completely.

This alternate page is insignificant, in comparison to the all-important main fan page. This is a mistake, as you can use the ‘Notes’ section to enhance your SEO popularity.

The title of a particular post that you host in this section acts like an SEO title and the initial words of its content double as meta-data.

You can also link a note with other web page, and other important notes, thereby ensuring better communication and stronger backlinks for your overall fan page.

You can follow the above tricks, in addition to including the phone number and address on your Facebook fan page, to ensure that it gets the right kind of attention from SEO devices.

Consequently, you are sure to experience unprecedented business growth, promoting your brand through a Facebook fan page.

How Is Google Using Big Data Big data is defined as a collection of data sets created by users and machines alike. These data sets are not only created by users, but also by satellites, GPS, sensors, automated response and many more.

All this data is aggregated as one to form a data set. The size of these data sets can only be measured in quintillion bytes. The challenge that big data presents IT organizations with is that it becomes hard for managed data centers to organize, sort and manage these large boulders of data.

On the flip side, they also present organizations

with a lot of unexplored business opportunities.

Big Data is the trend

Big Data is the trend in IT these days that’s making quite a thunder. It is undoubtedly one of those rare mushrooming technologies that encompass not only the scope but also the intricacy.

All around us there seems to be a data flood of sorts and at the nucleus of it all is Big Data. Anyone who is anyhow associated with any avenue of IT is trying to analyze this big one.

To put it in comprehensible terms Big Data is an assimilation of humongous data listings, tables and

information that is highly complex in nature and it is this multiformity that makes it a tedious task for data management tools to derive at a logical conclusion.

Google deals with many layers in their varied centers that collect data, and needless to say there are a host of things that can probably head the wrong way.

There could be a sudden machine meltdown, a router collapse, a hard drive malfunction or any other unexplained breakdown and therefore it becomes imperative that the software employed should spell allegiance and dependability.

The hardware fallout in the form of lethargic machinery, loss of information and so on can be dealt with by replication.

Two mechanisms

Google mainly employs two mechanisms to withstand latency, namely cross request and within request adaptation.

The former scrutinizes behavior that occurred recently thereby manipulating future appeals, whereas the latter mechanism deals with the uninclined subsystems in purview.

It was in the year 2004 that Google released a white paper titled Map Reduce, which was deemed to be a programming pattern that helps process large data clusters. Over the years, Google has shrewdly

equipped itself with advanced programs and patterns to manage future surge in big data.

For Google to be able to efficiently handle the voluminous amount of information or data, they employ

Page 148: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 148/159

many services, namely Big Table, Map Reduce and Cluster Scheduling System.

These services that Google uses helps them to resolve varied issues, however they carry the risk of bringing to the fore many cross cluster problems. Google has therefore armed itself with what they have constructed to be called a “Spanner”.

This is a storage mechanism for large volumes of data and this prevails across all of their data centers. The ‘spanner’ has been uniquely designed in a way that aids continuous duplication across all the data centers.

Dapper is a tool used by Google to enable them to supervise on a continuous basis as well as debug. Each server that is up and running aids monitoring, debugging and online profiling.

Deep Learning

In recent times, Google has been doing some work on providing a foundation for deep learning. Deep Learning is a branch of algorithms that automates deriving a substantial sense of raw data.

It picks information from both marked and unmarked data and contains many Central Processing Units.

The adventurous phenomenon called the Big Data is revolutionizing the data is talked about and handled. Companies are going to great lengths and breaths to collate, interpret and store the massive volumes and Google as a forerunner is doing a rather amazing job at handling their big data.

Guest Posting – Why It's Good For SEO Gain more weight from the search engines. SEO has changed a lot in the past year due to the updates the big G has rolled out, but other links from blogs or websites that are relevant to yours still does gain a lot of weight from search

engines and is still liked by them.

Make sure you gain links from different C-class IP’s rather than all from the same server to mix it up a little bit.

Gets a lot more traffic from a range of sites. One of the major benefits of guest posting is to gain

free flows of traffic from all of the websites you

have managed to get your link on.

If the readers like what you have wrote they will follow your link in the bio or article itself. Of course this will only happen if your content is engaging and very informative.

Obtain more followers via Social Media. Nearly every website has a form of social media on it so

readers can easily forward it on to friends and share out the information they are reading.

The article you write for websites will be shared out and passed on via social media platforms, only if your article is interesting of course!

Build a network of people. Lots of bloggers do

not bother with this and see other bloggers within their niche as enemies and just competition.

Experienced bloggers have a much different perspective and actually befriend those within their own niche, this can be for guest posting reasons and has been known to go even further for some

and turn into very prospective business relationships.

Build subscribers. Use the power of guest posting to create masses of prospectors on your Email list and send them updates of products and services.

Don’t hide your social interests. Displaying social proof that you are trying to build a community as well as an informative website is a great thing as social media is becoming more and more common on the internet and people like to interact and talk to each other.

Allow readers to hear a different voice. Get rid of the mindset of guest posters stealing your traffic! Sometimes it is great for your readers to hear another voice or a second opinion.

I mean let’s face it, if the website is all the same person and the same voice it basically becomes a digital book!

Become an authority. You want to become very knowledgeable within your niche, become the place where people go for answers to their questions. Guest posting allows you to do this by sharing your knowledge on other’s websites and building your authority.

Gain relevant, free, unique content. Whether you are busy one weekend or would like to take a 2

week vacation, why not grab a few guest posts and schedule them for automatic posting?

You will still capture your readers' interests and be giving your blog fresh content.

Increase your income. As a publisher you can increase your income by offering affiliate products,

www.Seocustomer.com Page 150/159

AdSense banners on your blog from Google or charge for guest posting (Last ones not very good). A lot of bloggers use this stream of income to pay for the hosting, domain name and running costs of the website.

Use of Author Tags for SEO Most webmasters around the world would accept that the whole process of search engine optimization (SEO) is largely skewed towards complying with Google and its web policies.

This is primarily due to the fact that Google has become a supreme power that rules the web, prevailing from search listings to online advertising services, and many more.

Every action that Google executes reverberates across the online world, which is a testament to its

dominance in the space. But one cannot undermine

the fact that Google’s actions are taken with only two things in consideration, to appease its loyal user base and cement its stature as a quality service provider.

A recent development from Google is its ‘Authorship’ identity, which according to it

enhances writer identity and minimizes spam activities.

In the SEO arena, the manner in which Google has created and sustained author tags in HTML and its usage has generated a lot of popularity and interest

in the writers' circle, mainly because it permits

them to tag their work thereby providing insights to the reader about the writer and also reflecting legitimate work.

In today’s age of the paramount importance of the internet branding business, content development is at the forefront of all the activities conducted in a

web-oriented business.

When a writer is instrumental in creating blogs or any other form of web content, author tags is an assured route to gaining acknowledgement and credibility in this revolutionary internet marketing trend.

Google is playing a crucial role here as it permits authors to associate their online content to their profile on Google Plus.

Your badge can include your particulars such as your name and preferably also a picture of yourself. Details such as these enable an element of authenticity, connection and readability with the writer and

his content.

Also if someone is particularly interested in your kind of writing you could get added to their circle on Google+. This will enable them to simply read more of your work no matter where they have been sighted and also serve as a positive personal branding mechanism.

This complete sequence can osculate into an incontestable medium for SEO.

The purpose of author tags

The entire purpose of author tags is that the work that you have done which is all over the internet now has a profile, thereby enabling global visibility.

Page 152: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 152/159

So even if you are a writer that does not write very often, you could still include the tag to your name within the content. For the few or many who wonder how to include these tags on your content is in reality a relatively simple process.

Once a writer is done writing on any topic that excites them, they can add then include their unique attributes in a link that will be redirected to their profile. Some of the primitive writing that you may have done also gets the author tag.

Content authentication has been a service that creative writers and authors alike have been longing for.

In the age that we are in anyone is capable of falsely claiming that a particular article is their original piece of work and some of the stalwarts in journalism have indulged in such acts, leave alone the ones striving to carve a unique identity by penning their thoughts and views.

Given this crude reality, this new rage called an author tag serves to authenticate your work, build your individual brand, enhance your reputation online and help you penetrate global markets.

This new phenomenon that continues to cause ripples is easy to establish and with Google backing it, you can be rest assured!!

How Can a Company Use Big Data from Google A common issue that most businesses face is storing and using Big Data in an appropriate manner.

Capturing and extracting the right information from data is a challenging task that needs to be pre-

planned. That’s why companies try their level best to get things in order in relation to big data.

What is Big Data exactly?

In layman terms, it refers to gigantic data sets that

are analyzed by companies to make better decisions. Why Big Data is an important issue in

today’s world?

Social media platforms generate a lot of data that falls into the public domain. Millions of social network users have a lot of information that can be used by companies to understand customer requirements. Big Data collected from such a source can prove to be highly useful in the near

future.

Institutional data has slowly become more accessible to companies. This transparency has given Big Data a huge boost. A lot of companies are beginning to understand the need for openness

and this will only result in more data that can be

processed for better information.

Nowadays a lot of people are turning towards cloud storage. This migration has helped increase the amount of data that is stored “offshore”. Cloud storage management plays a huge role in Big Data assessment.

Google and Big Data

As we all know, Google is the largest search engine online and the company is no stranger to big data. In fact, Google has reached such staggering heights because it has been analyzing Big Data for years. This has resulted in helping users with the right kind of information whenever required.

As a company, you need to take a leaf out of Google’s book and consider Big Data to be the next big thing.

How to use big data

Search engine algorithms use Big Data in order to bring up relevant results. This means you need to go back to the basics in order to gain exposure now. Fresh content is what the search engines are looking for.

You might think that your company is not massive enough to handle big data. Giants like Google, Amazon, etc. can afford to do so. However, this kind of an attitude will leave you behind. Imagine

analyzing your data and coming out with information about customers that you didn’t know in the past. Big Data is a virtual gold mine just waiting to be discovered.

Page 156: Seo customer hot tricks and tips 2012 Q4 - SEO, SEM, Social Media Traffic and Link Building

www.Seocustomer.com Page 156/159

Discovering micro-markets

Organizations selling products and services can benefit a lot from big data. By sifting through and combining various data sets, these companies can now formulate strategies based on the information they’ve extracted. The next question is: are you prepared to make a decision based on such data?

Traditional forms of selling models involved making decisions based on historical or current performance. However, by changing this attitude, your company will be able to tap into markets that

were undiscovered in the past.

Analyzing Big Data properly

Companies might be looking at Big Data with a lot of interest, but their employees might not have the

skills to make sense of so much unstructured information. Mathematical reasoning and a will to experiment are what you need in your organization. This will help in the proper analysis of big data.

Since employees will be dealing with large data sets, they must be able to see the bigger picture.

Making the right connections is what data literacy is all about. If you hire employees who have such skills, then your company will surely handle the Big Data wave in the right manner. Proper training of the right individuals could also make a crucial difference.

How to Get Dynamic Twitter Pictures Twitter is becoming an increasing important source for traffic for many websites. I get around 10 percent of my traffic from Twitter.

Maybe you are showing how many followers you have on your website – but why not show a picture

of all your followers?

And why not make it dynamic because a lot of people will unfollow you every day and new people will start to follow you.

So let me show this little trick, so you can show

your Twitter followers on your website. I have used my twitter account HenrikSandbergJ.

I was thinking of getting a mug with the pictures on it too.

You will get the dynamic twitter images from Twitter Mosaic Tool. This tool will let you create your own wallpaper of your followers or your Twitter friends.

You can also remove some of the pictures from your wallpaper if you don’t like the picture.

After you made the wallpaper you can grab the code and do the implementation on your own website. Like I have done here below.

You can also use the wallpaper to create a Coffee Mug, iPhone Case, T-Shirts, Bag or Mause Pad. Really

awesome I think.

But if you just want to use the code to show your Twitter followers images – it’s all free.

All the best to you,

Henrik
