The Making of Tools

Stone age people used a variety of different stones to make tools. At first humans made simple tools like axes, drills, carrying bags and awls (tool for making holes through leather or wood). Over time, people started to make much more complex tools like wooden hunting bows, flint spearheads and metal tools.

This was such an important development for human kind because the simple tools were developed into much more complex tools which have made the brilliant technology we have today. Without the tools people made from the stone age we would not have been able to have the fantastic goods and devices we have today .

Tools were an advantage to early people because tools allowed them to make fire, chop wood, pierce holes, kill animals for food and to make things like pottery and jewelry.

Starting to Communicate

People might have started to communicate with just simple hand gestures, facial expressions, or even slight grunts. Later on they developed simple words, which led to a real language.

Learning how to communicate with one and other was a huge advantage to early people. They could talk to each other in battles, warn each other if danger occurred and just simply let out how they felt.

Without the communication of stone age people we wouldn’t have been able to develop their simple language to the many languages there are today. We wouldn’t have been able to even communicate the way we do today, because we would not have had any language to develop. People in the stone age also communicated in painting which we have carried on throughout the years.

The Making of Fire How they came across fire

People probably first saw fire when lighting struck trees or other parts of nature. They then all gathered round the burning tree and realized that the burning thing let off heat that kept them all nice and warm, then they saw it let off light. Next an animal came past them and when it saw the fire the animal ran off in fear. They really liked this new thing they had found because it could let off light, keep them warm, scare away animals, and it would allow them to cook food or warm food up instead of always eating cold food.

People then discovered that by rubbing fools gold, or flints stones, together would cause small sparks which then led into a real fire.

How People made fire Why is the development important?

This is such an important development because people learned how to cook with the fire; which allowed them to preserve the food, make pottery and later on they even learned how to burn metals. Without fire people couldn’t have had light, warmth and means of cooking. Therefore their life would have continued to be difficult.
