Ryan Eagle- 6 reasons why confidence is so important? And how to cultivate it ? Confidence is among our most important assets--more important than skills, knowledge, and experience. 1. Confidence equals competence. While this may not always be a true statement this is how we often subconsciously think. Take an employment interview, you can have all the experience and skill in the world but you still have to convince an employer that you believe you can do the job. If your body language says otherwise, like not looking in people’s eyes, looking down, or bad posture, you’re less likely to get the job. 2. Confidence creates trust. We’re also more likely to trust those that are confident. If you don’t trust yourself to do a job then why should someone else trust you? If you don’t think that you can succeed than no one else will take you seriously. 3. Confidence helps us communicate. Those who aren’t confident often have problems communicating in the work place and in social situations. If you lack confidence, it’s difficult to speak in front of both large and small groups. It’s also difficult to speak with conviction to your colleagues. It can keep you from meeting new people and from meeting a significant other. If you lack confidence you also have trouble telling people no. 4. Confidence helps us get what we want out of life. You deserve to be happy and get what you want out of life no matter what it takes to reach your goals. But if you don’t believe that you’re capable of reaching your goals than your own negative talk will actually keep you from reaching them. 5. Confidence impacts the way we enjoy life. A lack of confidence can spiral into all sorts of other problems including poor body image, disordered eating, fear, alcohol and drug abuse, procrastination, anxiety, and depression. It can also motivate us to take our hatred of ourselves out on others in the form of bullying or sheer isolation. Happiness and confidence are actually close friends.

6. Confidence allows us to be comfortable in our own skin.

You can tell a confident person from a mile away. They walk into a room and people stare. But on the other hand, if you’re afraid to be yourself then no one will ever have the honor of meeting the true you.

How to Cultivate Confidence From the Ground Up

If you want a six pack you do crunches everyday and in the same way, if you want confidence then you have to build that muscle on a daily basis. You have complete control over your own confidence because it your’s.

-Dress sharp and take care of your appearance. Sometimes you have to fake it until you make it and appearance is a great example. Look good and feel good.

-Use good posture. If your shoulders are hunched it’s as if you’re ducking away from the world; but if your heart is open and your head is lifted you radiate strength.

-Write a short speech with all your goals and achievements. Every time you feel like you’re lacking confidence read the speech out loud.

-Sit in the front row. Don’t hide in class, at work, or in meeting. Instead stick close to the front and speak up.

-Take action and get it done. If you want something, don’t waste time worrying about why you can’t have it. Instead go for your goal.

-Be present in your life so that when you start the negative self talk you can stop it in its tracks.

-Give yourself a break. Sometimes you need to learn to laugh at yourself.

-Prepare for success. If you want something put in the leg work to get it.
