How?: Setup | Administration Setup | Company Profile |

9. Turn on the New User Interface

What?: Expose new features including Chatter, Global

How?: Setup > Customize > User Interface > Enable

5. Profile-based Page Layouts

What?: Create page layouts that show relevant fields,

links, and related lists important to different roles

How?: think, What are key processes/tasks performed

by each department in my organization?

Hint: keep things simple & start with one or two

departments

Example: Two Contact page layouts:– Support/Customer Services team need to see key Customer

fields/related lists

– Sales/Inside Sales need to see key Prospect fields/related lists

4. Create “Apps” to Show Related Objects

What?: Create Apps in your Salesforce account to

surface different types of material/programs/related

objects

How?: Setup > Create > Apps > New > follow wizard

Example: Create a “Sales Tools” app that surfaces

Content, Documents, and URL tabs (Sales Portal,

Training courses, LinkedIn)

What?: Quickly mass update Salesforce data

How?: Setup | Data Management | Data Loader

2. “Personalized” Sidebar Reports by Profile

What?: Create sidebar reports specific to departments

so that users have what they need at all times

Hint: Use “&pv0”, “&pv1”, etc. codes on report URLs to

limit report results by User

How?:

1. Create Campaign Member Report. Add “Lead/Contact

Owner” = [blank] (filter 1) & Responded = TRUE (filter 2).

2. Setup > Customize > Home > Custom Links > Create New

3. Link should be the Report URL. Use pv0, pv1, pv2, to fill in

filters (below pv0 references “Lead/Contact Owner”): • /00O30000004fY0i?pv0={!$User.FirstName}+{!$User.LastName}

4. Setup > Customize > Home > Home Page Components >

New “HTML” Component

5. Add your custom links to this Component. Create additional

left sidebar components for different Profiles/Reports.

6. Create new Home Page Layouts & add Components.
