What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing the product?

CameraWhen we first started to film our primary task, some of us thought that we would have to use the typical big movie camera.Instead we used a small portable version which was much is more convenient.

After the first use of the Sony video camera and the tripod which we used with it, the second time round was much easier and faster to set up making it more efficient.

Although we have only used the Camera and tripod on few occasions, our cameraman is confident with it.

Filming Process

During the film process at the skiing resort, a head camera was used as it was to risky to use the camera loaned to us by the college. So instead we used a specialized head cam which was used to record the skiing footage.

During the rest of the filming process we used the Sony video camera provided for us, we encountered little problems with it and where able to use it in the way which we desired.

TV Studio

We did use the College’s TV studio to record a news report which was meant to be played during the scene where the detective is watching TV, however this was cut due to editing difficulties.

EditingAlthough we were asked to use the editing software on the Macs, which is to use IMovie or Final cut, our editor’s preferred software for the job is Sony Vegas.

His reasoning is that, “When adding clips into Sony Vegas it was very simple and easy to cut and trim your clips appropriately by skimming through key frames to perfectly select the part of the clip you want to cut,” and that he also has more experience with this software than the colleges.

Garage BandOriginally we where asked to create a soundtrack using Garage band, during the process of using garage band is was difficult to find sound that fitted together as still gave the mood which we wanted, after some samples where created we decided to use stock sound effects on Sony Vegas and to use a song By Zion I which where granted permission to use.
