Quantitative Research
WHAT IS QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH ?
Quantitative research is “the precise count of some behavior, knowledge, opinion or attitude.”
It is based on measurement of quantity or amount.
It tries to answer questions like how much, how often, how many, when, who, etc.
Types Of Quantitative Research:
1)INFERENTIAL RESEARCH: In inferential observation the researcher must
make inferences by going below the surface. Process of trying to reach conclusions that extend
beyond immediate data. Inferential approach makes inferences from
specific data to general conditions.
2)EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH:An attempt by the researcher to maintain control over all factors that may affect the result of an experiment.
Research requires the measurement of variables.
The researcher attempts to determine or predict what may occur.
DEPENDENT & INDEPENDENT
VARIABLES:Dependent :
When a variable whose
value depends on that of another.
E.g. Height depends on
age, hence height
is dependent variable.
Independent : The variable that is
prior to the dependent variable is called independent variables.
E.g. Age or gender is independent variables.
3) SIMULATION:Simulation is an alternative to
lab & field experimentation used in business research.
It is conducted in a specially created setting that resembles the natural environment in which activities are usually carried out.
TYPES OF SIMULATION:
1-Identity Simulation.
2-Quasi-identity
Simulation.
4-Computer Simulation.
3-Laboratory Simulation.
STEPS IN CONDUCTING SIMULATION RESEARCH:•MODEL BUILDING.
•MODEL IMPLEMENTATION.
•MODEL BEHAVIOUR.
•COMPARISON WITH REAL WORLD.
•PRESERVATION OF EVENTS.
