Propylene

Polypropylene prices gained across Asia during the first four weeks of September 2015. Prices marched

higher on the back of firm buying trends witnessed in key markets like China. However, Polypropylene

prices in Asia drifted lower during week 5. Prices fell on account of a number of bearish triggers

including softer crude and naphtha prices, a plunge in propylene feedstock prices and extremely dull

demand trends across Asia, especially in China ahead of the Golden Week holidays from October 1 to

October 7, 2015.

imports. The volume for the month of September was recorded at 67611 MTS represents 28.20% rise as

compared to import volume for the preceding month. The monetary value of the PP imported in the

month of September was Rs. 588 crores, a rise of 25.73% as compared to the monetary value of PP that

was imported in the preceding month.
