ACCESSING THE ACADEMIC PREMIER DATABASE

First access the website www.iue.edu/library/ Once there You will be met by a Top Library Resources box. This is where we can access many different databases. For this slideshow we will be using Acdemic Search premier

THE ACTUAL DATABASE

After we click Academic Premier Database we are brought to this page. This is the emat and potatoes of the database where we search different things we are interested in.

SEARCHING FOR TERMS AND PHRASES

Since my topic is about shedding light on hedge funds and private equity firms. I chose to search hedge funds. After typing in the words I am presented with 7,258 results that I can see relating to my topic. As you can see I can also limit my searches to be more specific on the left hand side to scale down what I looking for specifically.

CHOOSING AN ARTICLE

After I chose the second option, I was presented with this page. Here I can access the full PDF version as well as all of the articles information as well to use for a citation on my paper. If I scroll down more, I can see the absreact of the article. Also, on the right hand side I have tools to print and cite and various other tasks that are useful.

CONCLUSION

Overall this database gives us great reliable sources to cite for our papers not only in this class but others and all that we have in the future.

The usefulness of this database goes beyond what we need and involves us in the research of our topics to whatever we need and when we need it.

I will definitely be using this more for finding future articles in my time here at IUE .
