The interior design of the 4,500 SF New York flagship, launching the ILORI brand, invites a sense of exploration as eyewear is curated by stylists and exhibited as artwork for the consumer to discover. Inspired by the work of modern artists such as Donald Judd, Sol Lewitt, and Alexander Calder, the store features an eclectic juxtaposition of design features including backlit perimeter display boxes, freestanding sail-like piers, and a sensuously curving gold wall culminating the journey through the boutique. Displays are intentionally left open to allow the consumer to touch, wear, and experience first hand the details that make each frame special. The Beverly Hills flagship was the second ILORI boutique to open, introducing the brand to the West Coast. Although many of the elements of the space are similar in concept to the New York boutique, the Rodeo Drive store has a distinctly airy feel due to the high ceilings, skylight, and freestanding piers with suspended clear acrylic spheres floating above them. The signature ILORI storefront was also introduced at this location, featuring a stylized “s” shape wrapping from top to bottom forming a display stage, and a gleaming white crystal stone cladding. When Joli Salon chose to expand its offerings to include spa services, the owner wanted a salon and spa that would feel tranquil and rejuvenating to his clients. Thus the concept of a natural retreat was conceived. The plan of the space is divided down the middle, channeling the privacy of a quiet forest walk for the spa side, emerging into a light filled clearing for the more active salon side. The finish materials celebrate the beauty of natural textures and patterns, and a partially transparent glass tree motif allows peeks from the mall concourse into the bright salon area of the space. Colonie Center has undergone a radical transformation with a complete interior renovation, the construction of a movie theater on top of the existing mall, and the addition of a lifestyle center, making it the premier shopping destination in the New York state capitol. Striving to make a monumental space feel inviting, the interior design takes inspiration from the craftsman architectural period, emphasizing warmth. A multi-level stone fireplace was added as the heart of the mall, showcasing an elaborate wood and stone surround. Lounge furniture design and upholstery continues the theme with interest in texture and pattern. Woodwork is a consistent feature than can be found ornamenting column covers, handrails, and ceiling soffits. Earth tones reflect the glow cast from custom lighting fixtures. 21 W.
