#1 Insight / Idea Philips believes that music is meant to be listened to and enjoyed by as many people as possible. Since people stared to store music on digital devices we hear a lot about sharing music, but this invariably refers to swapping mp3s with your friends, with people mostly listening to music on their personal mp3 players or mobile phone devices. The Fidelio enables people to share music by properly by projecting the audio from personal and hand held devices so everyone can enjoy it. Liberating this music from personal hand held devices will encourage people to get together and enjoy themselves - liberating themselves from this impersonal world in which we live. • We'd like to liberate the music on people's hand-held mp3 devices on the streets of London & Paris. At various places in both cities, shopping centres, tourist areas, public spaces, we want to set up Fidelio docking stations. We would then encourage passers by to plug in their mp3 devices to a Fidelio - but on one condition. People who loans us their mp3 devices have to play the first track to that comes up on random or shuffle mode. We would also employ the services of a dance troupe - who have to perform to whatever track is randomly selected. This will result in some rather surprising tracks being played with rather unusual dance performances to entertain the crowds. These impromptu performances would be filmed and shared online. Philips Fidelio - Liberate music.

#2 Insight / IdeaPhilips believes that music players can not only sound incredible, they can look incredible too. This thought has led to the design of the Fidelio, with its unique curvature creating a more effective structure for acoustics. Whereas some of it’s competitors concentrate on either sound quality or the aesthetic of their docking stations, the Fidelio offers both stunning looks and sound quality that is second to none. It looks great, and sounds even better.

• With the thought in mind ‘looks great, sounds even better,’ we realised other things that look great and sound even better are classic LPs. The music spans generations and the album covers not only compliment the album, but are stand-alone pieces of artwork.

• We’d like to run a competition where entrants would recreate their favourite album covers and send them in to either a dedicated microsite or a Facebook fanpage. These recreations could feature themselves and/or their friends, or a new interpretation of the classic image. The best ones are voted for by people who ‘Like’ the page, and the eventual winners would win tickets to see the band or artist perform (if they’re still alive / performing!) and of course a Philips Fidelio docking station.
