The North Sea is commonly referred to as a mature basin and one of the characteristics that comes with this, is that the challenge to recover hydrocarbons gets bigger while the prizes become smaller. The last barrel of oil is the hardest to produce and takes a huge amount of focus, energy, commitment, vision and technical expertise to guarantee success.

All operators in the North Sea remain focused on increasing production and maximising recovery whilst lowering the cost of operations. There is no doubt that there are ample reserves in the North Sea but the days of easy oil are over. This sets up a new challenge for industry to continue to produce the maximum amount of barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) whilst targeting harder to reach hydrocarbons.

According to Oil & Gas UK’s Activity Survey 2014, improving recovery from existing fields and an active exploration programme to find new reserves on the UKCS has the potential to add another ten billion BOE. The main challenge for industry now is to get production volumes up from 60% to 80% between now and 2016.

The culture of ‘as long as it’s producing, we’re in good shape’ is impacting production and revenue across industry – now is the time to tackle production issues head-on and help to unlock the production optimisation prize.

The objective of the Offshore Production Optimisation Conference (OPO 2014), is to bring together executive level decision makers, subject matter experts and senior production and reservoir managers to address the knowledge gaps associated with optimising and enhancing production in the North Sea.

On November 4th - 5th in Aberdeen, you will access

• 150+ leading industry figures will gather for two days of presentations

• Panel discussions and networking to share original content and experience

• 25+ expert speakers sharing analysis, case studies and lessons learned

Whatever your production priorities are for this year, OPO 2014 will provide you with the required business critical information, vital networking opportunities and best practice approaches that will secure your future in the North Sea market.

I’ll look forward to seeing you in Aberdeen,
