To display the use of resources of the world wasted through Globalisation

Globe created through spent Fireworks

• Through the imagery of spent Fireworks, and that they are no longer of use, creating a Globe would be a powerful image to display the worlds wasted resources.

• I hope to create it so a small number of the Fireworks are still active, with a couple going off while on display, to demonstrate how few resources are left, I feel this fits into ‘New Horizons’ because of where we will be in the near future, which I feel is an unexpected and interesting use of the criteria.

• The proportions of the spent Fireworks to live Fireworks would be a percentage of the current resources that we have left available to us (such as coal and oil), to create an accurate map of where we are.

Is it a feasible idea? • For creation, I would only be able to use small Fireworks due to the

complexity of creating a Globe, and because of Health and Safety concerns.

• With this in mind, it would be possible to create a mesh frame and attach the Fireworks to the frame to create a Globe shape which would then be painted.

• I hope that the model will be an original way of displaying the current climate we are in with the heavy usage of fossil fuels and our dependence on them, with them still visually burning away.

• The Health and Safety concerns of using Fireworks would be difficult to overcome with them being a key factor in the creation of the model, and its imagery may not be immediately apparent.
