Mobile-Commerce Sees Huge Growth This Holiday Season

The key points reported by eBay include:

Nearly 6 million people from 165 countries now have an eBay application on their phone, and they make 750,000 unique visits per day to the eBay site

1.5 million items were bought by mobile on eBay over this holiday season, triple the level of last year

During all of 2009, mobile sales on eBay

- half a billion US dollars, with a new transaction every 2 seconds.

Mobile Advertising Set to Take Off in Europe

Mobile advertising is poised to take off in Western Europe according to a new report by the research firm First Partner

The company says that annual growth could be as high as 50% over the coming years reaching around £810m by the end of 2013

It says that around £110m of this will be in the UK, making it the biggest market in Europe for mobile advertising

The size of the market in Ireland is estimated to be worth around €7m a year.
