  • 2. Adding e-books and e-textbooks to your curriculum should be easy!
  • 3. Early e-readers were great for reading novels, but were not useful to students who were most familiar with traditional textbooks.
  • 4. Todays e-books
  • 5. So, now that everyones ready, what do we do next?
  • 6. Why make a change? AND What kind of a change? Why do we need e-textbooks? How will it help our students? How will it engage our students? What kinds of learners do we have? What kinds of questions do we need to ask?
  • 7. WHO SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE CONVERSATION ABOUT ADDING NEW TECHNOLOGY? All Stakeholders should be involved: 1. Teachers 2. Students 3. Administrators 4. Tech Services Department 5. Parents 6. Other officials from the school district or school board
  • 8. $$ FINANCIAL QUESTIONS $$ 1. Are we buying devices for students to use? 2. Are we buying e-books, e-textbooks or both? 3. Do we have enough bandwidth and infrastructure to support additional wireless devices? 4. Will students need to be able to access the internet when they are not at school? 5. If so, do students have internet access at home? Or elsewhere in the community?
  • 9. Training for teachers needs to planned and budgeted for, in advance.
  • 10. ITS TIME TO DO IT! LETS START THE DISCUSSIONS IN OUR SCHOOLS THAT WILL HELP MOVE OUR STUDENTS INTO THE 21ST CENTURY!
