Animation used to be very simple, but now has evolved into several types, namelyanimated two-dimensional (2D),animated three-dimensional (3D),clay animation.

Paling akrab dengan kita mungkin animasi (2D), atau yang biasa disebut film kartun. Kartun sendiri berasal dari kata cartoon, artinya gambar yang lucu. Memang film kartun ini kebanyakan film yang lucu. Sehari-hari kita bisa melihatnya di TV, mulai dari Looney Tunes sampai Scooby Doo. Atau menonton di bioskop, seperti Doraemon Legenda Raja Matahari, The Lion King, yang sudah dulu diputar beberapa tahun lalu, dan Brother Bear di putar tahun 2003.
