Introduction from the Executive Director

We have had another strong year in this exciting market with 96% of our MiM 2015s accepting job offers within three months of graduation and seven graduates starting their own businesses. Our graduates and their successes are contributing to London Business School’s aim: To have a profound impact on the way the world does business.

The most noticeable trend this year was the number of graduates accepting jobs in the consulting sector, increasing to 40% of the class from 31% the previous year. Finance as a whole was similar to the previous year at 35% of the class. Within the finance sector, investment banking was stable at 18% but there was a slight reallocation from diversified financial services toward the buy-side, with an increase of 5% of the class going into investment management.

As consulting hiring increased, fewer graduates entered industries such as technology, industrials, energy or the consumer/retail sectors. 25% of our MiM 2015s chose to work in these sectors, as opposed to 35% of our MiM 2014s. The increased appetite from consulting firms for our MiM graduates also impacted the diversity and concentration of companies hiring our MiM 2015s. This year 94 companies in total hired our graduates compared to 105 last year, and of those, 21 hired two or more graduates compared

to 25 companies last year. This is due to large hiring numbers at firms such as BCG and McKinsey who, respectively, increased their London Business School MiM hires from four and five last year to 11 and seven this year.

Our London location continues to attract approximately half of our graduates, but we stand out amongst most business schools given more than half go on to pursue careers outside of their place of study. After London, the most popular geographic regions were the rest of Europe (23%) and Asia (17%). 2015 also saw a stable increase in overall salaries with the mean rising by over 4% from £36,295 to £37,890, largely driven by a 10.4% increase in the mean consulting salary.

It has been another great year and we are proud of what our MiM graduates have achieved. We are particularly excited by the growth of our Early Career programme portfolio, with the launch of the Global MiM this year and the upcoming launch of the Masters in Financial Analysis in September 2016. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our recruiters for trusting our talent to work for your business.
