Make Multiple Impressions with These Tips for Selecting

Promotional Products.

How many times do you see a new logo before you recognize it? Or how many times do you see or hear about a new brand before it makes an impression on you? This is the first thing I’m covering today—multiple impressions. The second is taking advantage of seasonal specials.

First, Let’s Approach Promotional Products from a Budgetary Perspective.

How many impressions do you expect a single product to make? And how much per impres-sion are you willing to spend on that item? According to 3M studies on Post It notes, each ‑Post It note gets viewed on average 17 times. ‑That’s 1,700 brand views for one little stack of 100 Post-It notes. That makes an impression!

It’s a major reason why they’re so popular to use as promotional items. Look around your desk and look at all the items that make multiple impressions like Post-It notes. How many times have you noticed that pen, or that mug? Or the brand on your mouse pad? They are continually making impressions on you—that’s why they’re so popular.

Promotional Products Can Also Achieve Multiple Impressions Using What We at AOK call the Companion Gift Strategy.

The companion gift strategy is especially effective for targeting prospects at trade shows. As a pre-show strategy you give your leads a gift; then at the show you give them the companion, higher-value gift so they are especially impressed with your brand. The same strategy works for new prospects at the show whom you intend to contact afterwards. Or you can use complementary products to achieve the same goal. Give your prospect a shirt and a hat that matches, or branded desk items, like a pen and a pencil set, and follow up later with a highlighter or a ruler. Still another way to create multiple impressions is to jump on board the Silly Bands trend. Think of the multiple impressions they make for charities and non profits.

If You’re Willing to Buy Your Promo Products Off-Season, You Can Take

Advantage of Great Seasonal Specials.

Every holiday season is going to come around again next year, so you can get great deals on promotional products that have annual interest and don’t suffer from being just one year old. Actually, the turnover in terms of promo-tional products often isn’t that critical, except maybe for the apparel industry where the “in” color trends are con-stantly changing. Even there, if you go with a perennially popular color, there’s no reason why you couldn’t purchase something this year and use it for next year. After all, apparel doesn’t expire or have a year-to-year shelf life, so there are some great deals buying off-season.

Did Somebody Say “Discount”?Sometimes You Can Save a Bundle

By Booking Your Order Well in Advance.

You can often take advantage of great deals by pre-ordering well in advance, especially if you’re looking at a retail apparel item. You can use a booking program, for example. Let’s say that it’s the fall and you want something for the following spring. By pre ordering you ‑may get a rather substantial discount. With some retail products, ordering early gives you the advantage of guaranteeing that you have those products, even though they won't be delivered until next spring when you need them. So add this tactic to your promotional product purchasing plans—and see what it does to your ROI.
