GB microspheres are white, light weight /high strength hollow glass microspheres, used as alternatives to conventional fillers in a variety of paints and specialty coatings, spalcking, caulks, adhesives, roof coating and more. They are used to provide a better surface for sanding and allows a higher filler loading. The effect of trapped air further improves the insulation properties.

glass microspheres are produced at high temperature based on a mixture of soda , lime and borosilicate. The obtained glass is milled and mixed with sodium-sulfate, after which the mixture is run through a high temperature heat transfer process whereby the viscosity of the glass drops and the surface tension causes the particles to form perfect round shaped spheres. Continued heating activates the blowing agent, releasing a small amounts of sulfur gas that form bubbles within the molten glass droplets. The result are low density, rigid, hollow spheres with an increased crush resistance, withstanding external pressure and avoiding fracture of the bubble
