note from the editor! Thank you very, very, very much for the support of our brand new venture, LDFit Magazine. Linda and I recently combined forces, her as the poised, fierce, and French Fitness Icon, and me as the l ittle photography, make up, and food-driven ensemble. My name is Susie Jetta, I have been a photographer and make up artist for 10 years, and a self-taught clean cook for 3. A couple of years ago after graduating high school in Connecticut, I was pressured to make a decision on college or to actively pursue my talents with artistry, but my mind was not clear, my visions blockaded with worry and self-doubt. The ones closest to me did not understand why I was settling to live a mediocre life and not pushing my full potential. It was because I was attached to those material possessions around me, and I was afraid of being different in a mediocre society. I was chaining myself to the familiar, I was protecting myself, or so I thought. The only thing this temporary plan of averageness allowed me to do

IT WAS A SUNNY AFTERNOON

IN SOUTH BEACH

the streets were bust l ing with tourists , the bars pulsing with Godforsaken jungle beats. It would not seem possible that just near the beach’s sidewalk, underneath the looming palms, there were some of the most ab le -bodied and impress i ve a th le tes in South Florida. These athletes practice “ca l i s then ics ”—a se r ie s o f gymnastic exercises to achieve grace of movement and physical strength. Sitting with her head between her legs was French fitness icon, Linda Durbesson, her back gently rising up and down as she collected her breath. It was no surprise that Linda then went up to the bar, and started to

exhibit a perfect set of pull ups (the most standard exercise with calisthenics). When mastering the pull up, in addition to some intense core training, the bar then becomes a spectacle of glory, and agile bodies yearn to forever twirl and flip amongst the level metal. Having only started calisthenics two weeks prior, Linda certainly did not seem like an amateur. The crowd watched in awe as she continuously put her best foot forward, powering through the bloody calluses and dead-weight falls into the sand. It makes one anxious to see what Linda and these spectacular calisthenic athletes are capable of doing next. ⚜

THE MUDPIE METHOD% There i s a method to the unpredictable Mudpie madness. But you must remember, you are saving money by buying the least amount of ingredients possible. If your schedule allows, Cook Days are to prepare meals or “meal prep”, and Bake Days are to prepare healthy treats, and are very easy to include the kids with. Following a consistent routine of when to cook will not only help you attain your goals but will maximize results and minimize effort.%

Mudpie Method Example: Monday: Cook, Maple Glazed Salmon Tuesday: Bake, Lean Peanut Butter Cookies Wednesday: Cook, Catch of the Week Thursday: Bake, Protein Banana MuffinsFriday: Cook, Clean Chicken Enchiladas!

BLUEBERRY

VANILLA COOKIES WITH CARAMEL ALMOND

GANACHE

• 2 cans of low sodium chickpeas

• 2 scoops Nutrabolics Vanilla Whey Protein

• 1 scoop Superfood Powder

• 12 tbsp. egg whites

• 2 tbsp. almond butter

• 1/2 cup blueberries

• 10 drops vanilla stevia

• splash of water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Open both cans of beans, rinse well in a strainer. Add all ingredients into food processor, push down sides as needed. (around 3 times) Take mixture and place in fridge for 30 minutes (or freezer for 10 if you’re lazy) Use two big spoons to form into balls golfball size & flatten out with a fork. Bake for 22 minutes. Top with Caramel Almond Ganache. (Recipe for Ganache: Blend roasted almonds in food processor with 1 tbsp. coconut oil, caramel extract, & stevia until creamy & thick in consistency) MACROS FOR EACH COOKIE WITHOUT GANACHE : 100 cal. 12g Carbs 10g Protein 3g Fat inexpensive, effortless, & wholesome protein treats; mudpies ✔

PEANUT BUTTER

PROTEIN COOKIES

• 2 cans of low sodium chickpeas

• 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips

COOK DAY MUDPIE MEAL OF THE MONTH:

CRISPY CLEAN SALMON WITH HERBES DE PROVENCE

• (4) 5 oz. pieces of salmon

• drizzle of olive oil or grapeseed oil

• herbes de provence

• salt and pepper

• lemon wedges

Preheat 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Rinse fish with cool water, pat dry with a paper towel. Drizzle small amount of olive oil over the fish, massage gently. Squeeze lemon wedges over salmon, sprinkle with herbes & salt & pepper.

One of the best meals you could prepare for yourself; wild-caught salmon with roasted zucchini, cucumber salad, & tomato and eggplant romesco sauce (found at Trader Joes)

ith her heart of a lion and green eyes of a tiger, Linda Durbesson, 35 years old, is not slowing down anytime soon. With her new routine of detoxing, stretching, and calisthenics, she was offered to become part of the renowned “Team Blade”, ran by ’08 & 12 Masters Olympia & 5 times Arnold Champion, Dexter Jackson. “It is an honor to be part of such a stoic team under such an amazing coach,” LD states. “I am always asked if I’m going to compete this year or next year, joining Team Blade has to be the best choice.” In addition to joining Team Blade, Linda has also become an official Nutrabolics sponsored athlete. Nutrabolics was started in Vancouver Canada, the territory known for chemical-free supplements, great tasting low-sugar protein, and being sold in over 50 countries worldwide. Together Nutrabolics & Linda plan on heading to Olympia in September, the second largest body building competition in the world. Wordily travels with Nutrabolics are also in the works in Canada, and an undisclosed country in South America. ♢
