BACKGROUND OF COMPANY: History: Established on March 6, 2003 by George Quek. It has many outlets in Indonesia managed by Johnny Andrean.

Outlets in Indonesia: Magelang, Bekasi, Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Bali, Makassar, Manado, Pekanbaru, Yogyakarta, Solo, Palembang, Bandar Lampung, Batam, Samarinda, Balikpapan, Cirebon, Medan and Ambon.

Making products: Soft Bread, Dry Cake, Danish, Toast, Cookies, Cake, Euro Bread, French Bread

Awards:Aug 2002 BreadTalk won the first Promising Brand Award (SPBA) given by ASME. The bread boutique celebrated this award with its customers with a one day 50% discount sale on all its bread items on Thursday 29 August 2002.BreadTalk also earned a mention in Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong's National Day rally speech in August 2002.

• Operates a number of brands under one umbrella but the brand unification is not clearly visible.

• A lot of big retail brands like Starbucks, Cheesefactory, still missing in its portfolio.

• Incidents like SARS in and the global economic crisis in the last few years could seriously affect the business.

OPPORTUNITIES AND THREAT

Opportunities Threat

1. Operations restricted to Asia and Middle East. Increasing its operations into other countries.2. Capturing market share in new areas with developed market.3. Diversification into other retail brands in Garments, Fashion, footwear, etc.

1. Strong competition from other players like J.CO, Breadlife, Dunkin Donuts. 2. Operations dependent on regulations and policies of different economies while operating in foreign countries.3.  The entry of new competitors into the same F&B segments or into the immediate areas around the group’s retail outlets may affect its earnings.

BUSINESS OPTIONS: BreadTalk has also been investing in product development to introduce healthier choices to our customers.

Endorsed by the Health Promotion Board, some of these products that are well received by our customers include, the Chia Seed Toast and Pumpkin Toast which have no transfat and are low in cholesterol, as well as the Soya Toast which is transfat-free.

This decision not only will attract new costumers that love food with low cholesterol but also will show that BreadTalk is concern about the healthy of their costumers.
