What is intellectual property Rights ?

Property created as a result of intellectual creative effort or

commercial reputation and goodwill.

Intellectual property (IP) is a term referring to a number of distinct

types of creations of the mind for which a set of exclusive rights are

recognized—and the corresponding fields of law.

PatentA patent describes an invention for which the inventor claims

the exclusive right.

(1) It is covered under the Act called the Patents Act, 1970

[Amended by Patents Act, 2005]

(2) It extends to the whole of India.

(3) It shall come into force on such date as the Central

Government may publish, by notification in

the Official Gazette.
