Established in 1979, the Instituto is composed of

persons who work toward the formation and celebration of good liturgical celebrations among the diverse

Hispanic communities in the United States.

Goals and Objectives

• To assist the bishops of the U.S. in carrying out the liturgical reform mandated by Vatican II as well as subsequent norms and decrees dictated by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, and in collaboration with the Committee for Divine Worship, the Office of Cultural Diversity in the Church of the USCCB, as well as pastoral institutes and organizations committed to Hispanic ministry.

• To explore new paths toward the enculturation of the liturgy among the Hispanic Catholic assemblies of the nation.

• To study and to celebrate more authentically the tradition of Hispanic Catholics, as presented in the documents of Medellín, Puebla, Santo Domingo and Aparecida.
