Including various eBook formats to

Kindle Fire HDX

KF HDX is one of the most powerful tablets from Kindle. It comes loaded with

many features including a powerful processor and a breathtaking display.

This article focuses on addition of various eBook formats excluding the

proprietary kindle format.

Understanding various formats

First of all, we need to know what formats are what. For successful prediction

of formats, Kindle requires all files to have types. The formats which it

supports are AZW, KF8, MOBI and PRC. AZW is the best ebook format for

Kindle. KF8 format is also supported but it is new and won’t be easily read by

older devices. MOBI and PRC are eBook formats which are easily accepted by

both MOBI pocket Reader and KF HDX.

Text Formats

Kindle supports text formats such as TXT, PDF, DOC and DOCX. Even though

these formats are easily read, the same cannot be viewed just like Kindle

Books are used. These text formats are useful for reading supported personal

documents.

Some Unsupported formats

Some of you might have noticed that the most common format ePub is not

supported by KF HDX. It is easily viewable in many other popular tablets and

e-Readers. Even if that is the case, software like Calibre can help users to

create adaptable formats from ePub files.

Using Calibre

Calibre is free software which can be installed on your computer. After

installing it, click on Add Books and then select Add books from a single

directory. This option helps to convert multiple files. You need to search and

select the books which are in ePub format. Once this is done books can be

converted using Convert books and then selecting Convert individually option.

You must be careful while choosing an output option.

Adding books to Kindle Fire HDX

Once the unrecognized formats are converted, KF HDX will do the rest but

first transferring the files to your device is required. This can be done by using

USB cable, Email or by making use of a valid Dropbox account. Once the files

are transferred you can browse the Books section. All the books on your HDX

hard disk will be shown in the main display. The ePub format which was

inaccessible minutes ago is also now available. If you are unable to view the

uploaded book, make sure that they were copied correctly and that the entire

book was loaded.

If you find it hard to follow the tips mentioned above, it is advised to get

professional help from any of the best eBook conversion service providers.
