Style models

I decided to follow the layout for Q as it is very structured but still contains enough information. Even though Q is a rock magazine I chose to follow the conventions taking place within this magazine and make my magazine pop, by doing this I am breaking typical conventions for a pop magazine however it gives my magazine individuality being different to others.

I chose to look at top of the pops for one of my style models as I had focused my magazine on the genre, pop. I chose to follow a similar house style and focus on the colour scheme for my own magazine. This follows typical conventions of a pop magazine.

I looked into NME for my contents page as It also has a organised structure to the page. This links in with the house style of my magazine as both magazines are an ‘organised mess’. I think this works really well as it is structured which therefore makes it easier to read. Although pop magazines do not have the same structure breaking these conventions will work well as it gives the magazine something different.

I have followed typical conventions of my magazine by choosing a colour scheme of pink, turquoise black and white. The colour scheme follows typical conventions however the layout and structure of my magazine breaks typical conventions. The image is an extreme close-up which isn’t common on a pop magazine, I chose this image as it fits well for a larger target audience. Aiming my magazine at female teenagers (typical audience) and a targeting older females (20-30) it allows my magazine so look sophisticated.

My product

Keeping the same colour scheme and holding a house style without my magazine follows the typical conventions of a magazine however my magazine breaks conventions by the layout. I followed a rock magazine style model to create my magazine. This works well within my magazine as it is different from other magazines.

For my article I looked at several different style models. The majority of the style models had a lot of text, large titles, a main image and strap lines. I decided to focus follow the typical conventions within my project. I again held the house style throughout this page fitting the magazine together.
