Our Values:Our values are central to what we do and incorporate the importance we place on:

Respecting the unique worth of every personWe believe that every person is different but should be treated equally and be given access to the same opportunities, chances and choices in life. That each person’s unique talents, skills and needs are important and should be recognised, encouraged and developed. We respect people’s rights which includes their privacy, dignity, ability to make choices and the right for their opinion to be heard.

Integrity and OpennessWe will be honest, open, transparent, fair and accountable in all aspects of our work, ensuring we work in partnership with the people we support, their families and other stakeholders.

Our Vision, Mission and ValuesOur mission is to make a positive difference to the lives of vulnerable people, including those with learning or physical disabilities, by promoting their individuality, rights, dignity, independence, choices and inclusion and by providing accessible, flexible support services and opportunities for them to flourish and enjoy positive and fulfilling lives.

Investment in PeopleWe have a culture of striving for excellence, our staff are well supported, trained, and valued. We invest in both them and our volunteers with continuous development of skills and knowledge to enable them to do their best for the people we support and the organisation.

People we support are at the heart of what we doThe interests and well being of the people we support are at the heart of all our work. We treat people in a personalised way and encourage them to be as independent as they can be in their lives. Regular consultation and involvement with the people we support enables services to be developed and improved to meet individual’s current and future needs.

EqualityWe work hard at our approach to equality, diversity and inclusion so that it is firmly embedded in everything we do. We treat all people with equal fairness, respect and courtesy.

Page 4: Impact Report 2015-16 - New Directions (Rugby) Ltd

This has been an exciting and successful year as we celebrate our 65th anniversary of supporting people with learning and physical disabilities in Rugby and the surrounding areas. At the heart of everything we do are the people we support and despite the backdrop of a difficult economy we have developed new services and accommodation and made a real difference to the lives of many.

New Directions’ reputation and profile as a vibrant and leading quality provider of support services remains high and we continue to reach new people and audiences through regular media and publicity work.

We have implemented a new business plan for 2016 -2019, which sets a clear strategic direction to enable us to continue to develop new services so we can support more people in the future.

This report will provide you with key information about our achievements and the impact we have been able to make to the lives of people with learning and physical disabilities, however this is only part of a larger picture. The people we support inspire us every day and in turn we are inspired to continually improve and innovate to provide the best services for them and their families.

Behind every number is a person with unique talents, aspirations and abilities. We are committed to enabling people to develop their potential and access to opportunities and improved life chances.

We have exciting plans for the years ahead and we recognise how vital our staff are in delivering our high quality personalised support. Every day we see positive examples of how our staff empower people with disabilities to gain greater independence regardless of their ability and encourage them to live full and active lives with real integration into community life.

We want to thank all those who support us or who contribute to our work - staff, trustees, volunteers, the people we support, their families and our supporters who have made all of our achievements possible.

If after reading this report, you would be interested in supporting us in any way, then please contact me and you could help us continue to make a difference and a real impact.

New Homesand New Lives

Angela and Rupert are getting a taste of independence with New Directions’ Supported Living services and are flourishing in their new homes. They both moved from their family homes into their new flats at Gateway Court recently. The pair are now entering into an exciting new chapter of their lives in their own homes, sharing with new friends, learning new skills, taking part in meaningful activities and widening their social networks.

Susie and Danny are now being supported by New Directions’ Home Care team and are thriving in their new homes. Having a home of their own is offering them more choice, control and inclusion within their local community.

The key to success for Susie and Danny has been in them being prepared with a positive attitude, being patient and understanding as well as having a strong support network. New Directions is playing an important role in their moves and readjustment periods as they both faced the transition to live more independently in their own homes.

“I really enjoy living in my own home, the support I get has helped me to do more things myself. I now do my own shopping, pay

my bills and keep my flat nice and tidy.”

- Danny -

Measuring and reporting on our impact as well as listening to feedback about our services will enable us to improve what we do for the future and demonstrate the value and difference we make.

Going forward we will continue to build on our achievements by:

• Developing new support and accommodation services to meet the needs and aspirations of a wide range of people with disabilities. Our next development “Richmond Court” will to be completed in early 2017, and will have 11 one bedroom homes in a supported living setting.

• We will invest further in digital technology across our services that will benefit the people we support and enable us to record and share information more efficiently.

• Invest in our staff development so they can continue to deliver high quality support and meet the changing or additional needs of people in the future.

• We will seek to improve how we communicate our impact to those who enable us to carry out our work and those who receive support from us and the wider public.

Evaluation of our impact is already central to our work, but we want to increase our understanding of how and where we can make a real difference. This will make us even more effective in directing resources to the activities that create the most impact and achieve our goal of transforming the lives of more people with disabilities.

Looking Forward 2016-2017
