Take home messages

Challenge 1 is a strong area for Ireland 32 out of 93 funded projects, €13.6 million out of ~ €32 million funding

But only 3 of the projects have >1 Irish participant Only 3 co-ordinators from Ireland

Use the full programme: fund PIs through the ERC, train mobile researchers (success rates 20-70%), build European infrastructure, act as a research provider to lower tech SMEs; fund your outreach programme

Remember: the FP7 opportunity is growing by €1 billion a year to you need to think big

Which of these statements is true?

Mopping up local funding has displaced FP activity FP7 is very bureaucratic FP7 success rates are very low Irish companies don’t know how to do it FP7 is for researchers outside the PRTLI/SFI fold

…none of the above

Talk to any member of the National Support Network for FP7 for further details
