Overview
This article suggests that illegal immigration has caused division among Latinos. This division has lead to a
failed consensus regarding what steps are necessary to address the issue of illegal immigration. A vast
concern has arose due to potential discrimination. Many fear that they will be a target even if they are with
valid citizenship or a legal immigration status. These perceptions are widely shared throughout the
community. Although the opinions and attitudes towards illegal immigration vary, Latinos agree that there are
far more important issues at hand. Education, jobs, and health care rank as the top 3.
Questions Raised
•Are Immigrants a burden or source of strength?
The above image (sampled directly from the article) , portrays evolving attitudes of immigrants in how they are percieved by the Latino community and furthermore, the general public.
ConclusionFrom this information provided we can conclude that the Latino demographic views them as more of a strength while the general population is divided. This division is deeply hindering the progress of our society.
