Catastrophe modeling firm AIR Worldwide estimates that insured losses from Hurricane Isaac to onshore properties in the U.S. will be between $700 million and $2 billion. AIR estimates include wind and storm surge damage to onshore residential, commercial and industrial properties and their contents, automobiles, and living expenses for residential properties and business interruption for commercial properties. The storm left more than 800,000 without power in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas , power companies told CNN. "Heat index values will continue to range in the 100- to 105-degree range -- possibly higher in some locations -- and (will) continue to have a greater impact on people who still do not have power," the National Weather Service said. According to Insurance Journal, State Farm Insurance Cos., the largest insurer in Louisiana and Mississippi, said it had received 4,266 homeowners’ insurance claims in the two states — 3,805 in Louisiana and 461 in Mississippi.
