HOW  WE  SEE  EXCELLENCE

•  Excellence  is  the  outcome  of  a  con8nuous  cycle  of  reflec8on,  self-‐assessment,  and  improvement

•  It’s  the  pursuit  of  excellence  that  is  exci8ng,  and  brings  about  challenges  to  be  confronted,  problems  to  be  solved  and  innova8on  to  be  implemented  in  developing  best  prac8ces.

•  Global  models  of  Business  Excellence  include  HR  as  only  a  part  of  the  whole

•  The  HR-‐Class  Model  was  born  out  of  this  need  under  the  leadership  of  Yogi  Sriram,  President  NHRD  Network,  Mumbai

•  Experience  with  other  global  models.

•  Indian  experience  of  organiza8ons  in  developing  their  own  criteria

•  A  holis8c  view  of  Excellence  –  beyond  driving    processes

•  Pilot  runs  helped  iron  out  many  issues

WHAT  IS  UNIQUE  ABOUT  HR-‐CLASS  •  Oden,  processes  are  designed  in  excellent  ways,  but  live

only  on  paper  and  in  informa8on  flows.

•  Bureaucracy  oden  creeps  in  and  brings  inflexibility  to  processes.

•  The  model  recognizes  that  process  excellence  works  if  there  is  leadership  and  cultural  excellence  to  support  it.

•  Qualita8ve  and  quan8ta8ve  evidence  is  factored  in  the  assessment  process.
