We all want more prospects and learn how to brand your business…that’s a given.

• Set up your website.• Made interesting offers of free information.– Video– Reports– Free Mini-Courses

Now it’s a matter of getting people to come.

• Two strategies– Offline…speaking, direct mail, networking…– Online…social media, blogs, links…

• What I want to focus on today is, Natural Search– Simply refers to when someone “looks” for you on

Google, do you show up in the natural search listings?

We hear this a lot…

• “Get your page ranked on the first page of Google”– Sounds appealing but it is a little bit misleading.

• Your page appears on the first page of Google for very specific key words or phrases.

• So the very first step in the process is to determine WHAT KEYWORDS DO YOU WANT TO RANK HIGH FOR?

Unfortunately the traditional methods don’t work particularly well

• Targeting the top 1-3 most highly search for terms in your market.– Marketing 642,000,000 pages– Business development 86,100,000 pages– Lead generation 4,150,000 pages

• It is going to be VERY difficult to get on the first page so if you are serious about how to brand your business, you need to…

Alternative has been to target what are often called long tail keywords

• Marketing Consultant Atlanta…only 3,400 pages BUT only 320 searches for the term each month.

• Lead Generation For Small Businesses…670 pages…BUT so few search on Google that they don’t even provide statistics

Thus what we want to do is to focus on…

• Finding key words (or phrases) that don’t have enormous competition (less than 20,000- pages that are indexed for that term by Google)

• And…have a good (term relative) number of searches each month.

In order to do that we are going to use 3 sources.

• Open a webpage with a google search bar in it.

• Open a separate page that is the Google Keyword Tool

• Print out the matrix on the next page

• What we are looking for are “money words”.• Low in competition…High in number of monthly

searches.• Lets try an example• Guerilla Marketing ideas– The first step is to put this into a google search engine and

see how many pages have this term.– We want that number to be less than 20,000– INPORTANT…when you put your term into the search box

• OK so far so good. Not a huge number of pages with term.

• This is important for learning how to brand your business

• No lets check on how often it’s search for. To do that we go to the Google keyword tool and put the search term in the box. After we click we’ll find this out. Let’s take a look

So we have 2100 pages (top row of the matrix) and 1000 monthly searches. How did we do?

We found an “excellent” word that we now stand a very good chance of getting top position for.

• To generate your initial list of keywords just put one of the obvious ones in the keyword tool and it will generate you a large list.

• Now that you have identified the keywords you can realistically own, you can use the other methods I’ve discussed to get high visibility for yourself.

Leveraging the key word

• A lot of marketing require the ability (and time) to write.

• Articles are one of the most powerful tools for getting high levels of visibility– Can be republished in lots of places.– Converted into videos– Multiple “bangs for the buck”.

• For example…

One article

• Article marketing• Blogs• Posts to your groups Linked In• Create a Hub Page• Create a Squidoo Lens• Convert into Video using Power Point or

Keynote.• Twitter

Obviously this requires some time and work.
