The presence of allergens in homes triggers asthma and allergy attacks in
people who suffer from these ailments. Genetics is something one has no
control over, but there are ways to prevent allergens from entering the
homes. Installing shutters are an effective way to keep allergens out.
Shutters Installation: Keep Allergens Out
A warm and humid home leads to dust mite growth. Dust mites produce
allergens that trigger asthma and allergic attacks. These insects live in
mattresses, couches, curtains, carpets, and drapes.
Heavy fabric items, such as curtains and carpets are ideal breeding
grounds for dust mites and other parasites. Installing shutters instead of
a curtain reduce the amount of dust, mites, and parasites that enter the
home.
Shutters allow just enough air to keep rooms at a normal temperature, not
too hot or too cold, and to let it circulate properly. Air circulation is important
to keep dust mites and other parasites out of a house.
Allowing air to flow into the house increases ventilation and reduces
humidity. Homeowners have control over how much light and air enters their
home when they install shutters.
Fabric curtains are not only prone to dust mite infestation; homeowners must
always keep them clean. After removing a curtain, a homeowner must think
of other ways to keep insects and allergens out. With a shutter, they do not
have to remove it and it is also easy to clean. Shutters are low-maintenance
as they only need vacuuming and wiping to get rid of the dust on its louvres.
Ways to Allergy Proof a Home
Other than installing shutters,
homeowners can implement budget-
friendly ways to keep dust and allergens
out.
1. Always keep doors and windows closed
after entering or leaving.
2. Set the air conditioner or heater to
allow air to recirculate.
3. Keep the filters on heaters or air
conditioners clean and dust-free regularly.
4. Use wood as floor covering whenever
possible. Carpets and low-pile rugs are
good alternatives.
These ways and installing shutters keep
allergens and dust out that triggers
asthma and allergy attacks at home.
