Habitat for Humanity Maryland, which is chartered by Habitat for Humanity International, is comprised of 17 autonomous nonprofit affiliates throughout its state. Each Habitat organization provides home ownership opportunities to low-income families who cannot qualify for traditional mortgages. There are a multitude of ways to become involved with Habitat. A few of these include swinging a hammer; measuring a two-by-four; or making a donation. Volunteers are often needed for tasks as simple as forming a water crew to provide volunteers with proper hydration or supporting a fundraising benefit through attendance. Organizational skills are consistently appreciated, whether for office-management tasks, acquisition of building permits, establishment of a recycling program, or event-planning.
