But in another sense, of course, conscious capitalism is a relatively recent phenomenon, certainly in the sense of it being a structured set of principles developed in direct response to the specific challenges, opportunities and responsibilities that businesses face in the 21st century. Conscious Capitalism 2013 , held in San Francisco in April of that year, was the public launch event for Conscious Capitalism, Inc. , the non- profit organisation dedicated to cultivating the theory and practice of conscious capitalism. The two-day event featured both presentations and workshops designed to bring out the point that conscious capitalism really comes to life through the application of its four pillars – Higher Purpose; Stakeholder Orientation; Conscious Leadership; Conscious Culture – within individual businesses. From Conscious Capitalism 2013 to Conscious Capitalism 2014

• In some senses (depending on your definitions, and I’ll be saying more about that in my next blog) conscious capitalism has been around for a very long time. But in another sense, of course, conscious capitalism is a relatively recent phenomenon, certainly in the sense of it being a structured set of principles developed in direct response to the specific challenges, opportunities and responsibilities that businesses face in the 21st century.

• Conscious Capitalism 2013, held in San Francisco in April of that year, was the public launch event for Conscious Capitalism, Inc., the non-profit organisation dedicated to cultivating the theory and practice of conscious capitalism. The two-day event featured both presentations and workshops designed to bring out the point that conscious capitalism really comes to life through the application of its four pillars – Higher Purpose; Stakeholder Orientation; Conscious Leadership; Conscious Culture – within individual businesses.

• In the words of Kip Tindell, Chairman & CEO of The Container Store and a Trustee of Conscious Capitalism, Inc.: “Practicing Conscious Capitalism enriches your life and the lives of people you do business with. And it’s without a doubt, the most fun, enduring and profitable way to build a sustainable business.”

• Over the course of the last year, more and more businesses have adopted or at least started to move towards the principles of conscious capitalism. And I’m delighted to be able to draw attention to the upcoming Conscious Capitalism 2014 which is being held this year from the 9th to 11th of April in San Diego. The theme for the event is Building Fully Human Organizations and the presentations and workshops planned promise to be every bit as inspiring and insightful as last year.
