Role ModelsIdea’s from Roll Models

The Role Model comedy is generated by the four figure head characters who are completely different in personality. They create comedy a lot of there humour through serious and non-serious conflict with each other.

Characterisation

The humour they create is very sarcastic and also childish humour, this in some way relates to the plot of the film as the adults themselves are very childish.

The two adult characters are very different. One is fairly serious, while the other basically never left child hood. In our film we intend to create a similar scenario between the characters.

The inspiration we gained from the office through the mocumentary genre. We were inspired by the effective use of camera work adding realism to the office world.

Secondly, the behaviour of the characters in front of camera adds realism to the whole mocumentary ideology. In our film we want to implement the same structure of our characters being direct towards the characters.

A majority of the characters in the drama, show off and act differently in front of the camera to look ‘cool’. Again, we want to add the sense of ‘playing to the crowd’ in our film to emphasise realism.

What we want take from knocked up is the general friendship group theme. We almost want to recreate the characteristics of each of the friends in a way that relates to some of our own friends in real life.

The love theme in the film is something we were inspired by as the main character (Seth Rogen) is a complete immature mess before potentially becoming a father changes his perspective on life.

Mocumentary

mocumentary or mock documentary is a genre of film and television, or a single work of the genre. Although a mocumentary may be one of the comedy genres, serious mocumentary also exist. The mocumentary is presented as a documentary recording real life, but is actually fictional. It is a commonly used medium for parody and satire. They are often used to analyze current events and issues by using a fictitious setting around it. A very good example is; (Battle for Haditha) which shows what some U.S soldiers have to under go in Iraq.

Mocumentary films are our main style of film. This is because they show a different perspective on characters as we can learn about their motives and views. We liked the way the film ‘Best in Show’ applied mocumentary effectively as the film gives interviews and ‘behind the scene’ progress of the plot.
