Fur Flies at JFKNew York Post written by James Fanelli, dated October 26, 2007

Kennedy Airport is finally doing something about overcrowding of feral cats on its premises. Many feral cats are descendants of pets that escaped their cages upon arriving at the airport.Co-workers feed the feral cats by leaving canned foods around the grounds.By leaving food around the airport this will attract birds and rodents. This is also a safety hazard among passengers when the birds fly through the jet engines trying to reach the food.

Frequent 'Liars' at JFK Cat DoomNew York Post written by Bill Sanderson, dated October 27, 2007

Port Authority workers are misleading cat lovers into believing the felines being evicted from Kennedy Airport will be placed in caring homes, outraged animal-adoption activists charges yesterday.Jane Hoffman of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals said the airport is lying to the public by saying these animals will somehow be miraculously adopted.Animal Care and Control of New York City admitted that most will be euthanized."Typically, feral cats are unsuitable for adoption, so they are put down when they come in," said ACC spokesman Richard Gentles"We don't have the resources to rehabilitate them, even if they are rehabilitatable," Gentles added.Hoffman want the Port Authority to trap the cats, neuter them, and return them to "inconspicuous shelters."

Keep fighting by calling, emailing, send letters and faxes to support the TNR cause.

Port Authority Kills Cats and the Truth

Lies:1. "The cats will all be adopted into good

homes."2. "Feeding the cats attracts seagulls and

the birds are an aviation threat."3. "A cat will go onto the runways and

cause a plane to crash when it hits the cat."

4. "We can achieve a cat-free airport."5. "We only recently learned about the

presence of the cats at the airport and of the risk they pose-that's why we're acting now."

Truth:1. Feral cats are wild and unadoptable usually

are immediately euthanized when brought to animal control shelters.

2. Seagulls are at the airport because JFK is near the ocean and because there are trash strewn about the airport's grounds.

3. The cats are not located anywhere near the runways.

4. You can't wipe out the presence of feral cats in a 5000 acre area in which new, unneutered cats are constantly being abandoned or lost and then reproducing, and where there are plentiful food sources.

5. Email correspondence with the general manager proves they knew about the cats at least by 2004.
