Founded in 1971 by Frederick W. Smith (Chairman, President & CEO)

FedEx History

He founded the Federal Express Corporation in 1971.

 It was originally founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1971

In 1973 Smith was moved the company to Memphis, Tennessee.

In 1994 Federal Express shortened its company name to FedEx.

In 2000 the company changed the name once more to FedEx Express.

In 1998 the Corporation was created as FDX Corporation.

In 2000 the FDX Corporation changed the name to FedEx Corporation.

In 1990 FedEx was the first company to win the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
