PHRASAL VERBS

A PHRASAL VERB is a verb is a kind of collocation. It consists on a common verb which has a preposition that changes the meaning of this verb:

PRESENT PERFECT: USES

1. THE P.P. IS USED TO TALK ABOUT A ACTION THAT STARTED IN THE PAST AND COMES UP TO THE PRESENT

E.g.: I’ve been a teacher for two years.

2. FOR ACTIONS THAT STARTED IN AN UNKNOWN PAST WHICH HAVE CONSEQUENCES/EFFECTS IN THE PRESENT:

E.g.: I’ve lost my wallet. (consequence: I can’t use my money, credit cards, etc.)

3. THE PRESENT PERFECT IS ALSO USED WITH THE FOLLOWING ADVERBS: ALREADY, NEVER. EVER, JUST, YET or with the TIME WORDS SINCE/FOR, SO FAR THIS……, THIS MORNING/MONTH, ETC.
