Max Havelaar France INTERNE

• Globalization and sustainable development for all can coexist.

• With a few rules, trade could lead to economical, social and environmental development for all.

• Social movements can get organized on a global scale to bring real answers.

• More and more producers, consumers, companies and local authorities are getting involved.

Fairtrade prove it everyday !

Fairtrade is ONE concrete solution that enables me to take action on today’s and tomorrow’s issues while

respecting people and communities.

A double strategy1/ Fair trade : a simple answer to take action and prove that an other world is possible.

-> « Fair trade act »: world campain with personnality and NGO to convince everybody (one by one) to change now for fair trade (consumption, rules…), with a meter. A personal commitment, very simple, as an introduction of big change (institutionnal…)

2/ « FLO’s tools »:A. « Fairfriends » : A community of labelised fairtrade supporters to empower consumers and promote their commitment.

-> « Fairfriends mobilisation »: Goodies, tools, volunteering, Flash Mob, Faitrade Breakfast table, Banana’s Day, Carrot Mob, Fairtrade at work…

B. « Fair Trade Town »: Transform the Fair trade act on a public policy to support fairtrade.

« Fair trade act » : what is it?People (personnality, local authority, consumers) commit to :• Change when possible for faitrade products.• Convince at less on other persons to sign up the « Fair trade Act » :

As an international challenge with deadlines and measure.

Multi NGO’s cooperation (Slow food, Oxfam..).

Lobbying (médias and politics) with the hudge number to prove than everybody is ready.

Expected Results in France : « 200,000 « Fair Trade Act » by the end of 09 Fairtrade Fortnight »(à ajuster selon les retours de nos partenaires)

Means.• A common internet web site: ww.fairtrade-act.org with exportable coumpter.• commitment cards + card box.• Communication plan (Internet campaign, medias…).

« Fair trade act » : Wich Kick off could be?

Benoît Panaudeau is a navigator engaged in many solidarity projects and he supports Max Havelaar for a long time.

He’s known in France, but not as a mediatic persons, so he’ve kept a « pure » and neutral image.

He’s is almost running the « Solidarity Course » and he’s looking for an NGO’s to use his trophy and just have call us (25 k€).

Idea:• Convince Benoît to be the fisrt Fairfriends and to launch the campain.

• Use his trophy to finance 1th tools of « Fairtrade act » (cards) (NO SPONSORS).

• Mediatic letter adress to other personnality in different network (politics, sportsman, Pop stars…) to join him.

• Use the Fairtrade network (FANE, FLO…) and his event’s calendar to get an international level (World Social Forum in Brasil in january….),
