The age of my audience of my magazine
The type of music the audience would need to be for my
magazine
The majority of people said that the image on my front cover
was the aspect that appealed to them the most. Probably
because it was different and bold, which considering my target
audience on age 18-24, this would suite them perfectly.
The feedback here tells me that my front cover gained
good feedback, and the target audience found it suitable
and enjoyable, which is what I was hoping for.
The response tells me that my Magazine readers will
have various interests, after analysing these results,
I've realised that I included areas of all these aspects at
various points in my magazine, especially on the front
cover.
The responses I got here tell me that my audience think
that the images on my contents page fit in with the overall
layout. One response said ‘they fit well aligned with the
columns. Easy to navigate around the page.’ This also
tells me my layout of my contents page was successful
and not overcrowded, so the text was hard to read.
I wanted to keep a similar house style all the way through my
magazine, so after I read these results, I agree with the first
one which said ‘more colours would suite the house style.’ I
do agree more colours on my contents page would have
suited the house style better so if I could go back and change
anything i would change this. I had a lot of coloured text but
the background was quite plain and simple.
My DPS is plain and simple but that was the image I had in my
mind to begin with. After reading these responses its clear that
my audience believed my DPS worked well and fit in with the
house-style of the rest of my magazine. If I could go back and do
the whole magazine again I would have a different design in mind
for my DPS.
The results show that my chosen image and blacked out
background fit in well with my DPS article. This may be because
the article is emotional, and my model is pulling a blank and
serious expression so they compliment each other. Another good
thing about this i have gathered from my responses is that it
makes my text brighter and easier to read.
As you can see from both images I
used the opacity tool to fade out my
image to give it a better effect against
the background. The opacity tool is
situated just above the layer bin, and I
moved the opacity dial to where I
thought id suited the image best.
Image ONE on the right hand side, you
can see where I have lowered the
opacity. I have lowered it to 54% so it is
still strongly visible, but it makes the
text look bolder when I write on top
which is better for the audience.
From the two images on right
hand side you can see I used
the history brush tool to
highlight and give effect to their
faces. In both pictures I firstly
changed the image to black and
white by going to adjustments
and just clicking the black and
white option. And then I zoomed
into the area I wanted, and
clicked on the history brush tool
and changed the size of it to
what i wanted, then simply just
clicked on which part I wanted
changing back to its original
colour. In picture ONE of
Angelina Jolie you can see I
have reverted her eyes and the
strawberry she is holding back
to their original colours. This
gives the image a great effect
and colour contrast.
I used the magnetic lasso tool to
cut out the main bit of the picture
I wanted then placed it onto the
background colour I wanted.
From image one you can see
where I have cut out (using the
magnetic lasso tool) just the
model out of the maim picture,
then as you can see in image to I
converted it onto a plain black
background. This was to give it
extra effect, and so the skin tone
of the model stood out more
against the jet black background.
To use the magnetic lasso tool I
just simply made an outline
around the part wanted and then
clicked the enter key, it then
deleted everything else around it.
This is a useful tool as you can
cut whatever you want out and
place it wherever you want,
meaning any different colour
background as well.
To upload and show my progress of my work I used Blogger.
Blogger is very useful and helpful in that its pretty much guides
you the whole way through, meaning from how to upload your
work and how the present it.
I got a lot of help of the AS MEDIA STUDIES blog, they had useful video’s,
tips and guidance on how to make your magazine and everything else
with it interesting, and something that’s going to get you good marks. The
AS blog also helped when using websites like PREZI, it held a YouTube
slip on how to use it, which I thought was very helpful, as PREZI was not
something I had used until now.
This is my college magazine,
this was the first magazine I
created. When I look back at
it and look at my new Music
Magazine I can see how
much I have learnt through
Photoshop since then, and
the different skills and
techniques I have used on
my Music Magazine
compared to my College
Magazine. As you can see
my College Magazine is very
simple and their hasn’t been
many techniques or designs
used. In a way its good to
look back and see how far
you have progressed and the
new techniques you’ve learnt.
I have thoroughly enjoyed creating my music magazine, i have learnt
so much in the process and its something I wish to take with me into
A2 media next year.
If you look earlier on in my blog you will see drafts of my magazine,
these were my first finished designs then after analysing I thought they
needed some extra work. As you will see on my blog my OFFICIAL
finished designs which I am much more happy with as I feel they are
at a higher standard and something I am hoping will bring me better
marks.
