Export Oriented Units [EOUs]

• Units undertaking to export their entire production of goods and services – Except permissible sales in Domestic Tariff Area (DTA)

• Electronic Hardware Technology Parks (EHTPs), Software Technology Parks (STPs) or Bio-Technology Parks (BTPs) – Also covered under EOU scheme. – These are product specific units availing the same benefits as

EOUs.

• EOUs are allowed to manufacture goods including– repair, re-making, reconditioning, reengineering, and rendering

of services wherever applicable.

Software Technology Parks in India (STPI)

• Setup in 1991 as an autonomous organization under Ministry of Information Technology

• Aim: To promote software Exports by acting as ONE STOP SHOP by:– Creating an enabling environment for healthy IT

exports nationwide– Strengthening Technical Infrastructure– Providing Single window clearance to software

exporters – Shift towards OFF SHORE model of software

development work

SEZ – Special Economic Zone

• It is specifically delineated duty free enclave• Shall be deemed to be foreign territory• Goods going into SEZ shall be treated as Deemed exports• Goods coming from SEZ into DTA (domestic tariff area) shall be treated as being imported• Existing EPZ may also be converted into SEZ by Ministry of Commerce

• Duty-free! – Exemption from taxes, various subsidies and tax sops

• Hassle-free! – Exemption from stringent labor and environment regulations

• Foreign enclave! – A designated duty free enclave and to be treated as foreign

• Single Window Clearance! • No license required for import• Only 25% of the area for industrial activity –

– the rest of the area for entertainment and residential as well as other commercial activities!
