A Look At Dietary Awareness
Food groups
Grains• Wheats, Rice, Pasta, Oatmeal• Eat at least 6 oz. a day.– A slice of bread, or a cup of cereal is about 1 oz.– How many sandwiches would you need to eat to
get your daily serving or grains?– What else would be a good dinner to have to get
your daily grain servings?
Vegetables• Corn, Broccoli, Lettuce, Carrots• Eat 2 ½ cups a day.• Orange veggies like carrots are good for your eye
sight because they contain a lot of vitamin A.• Dark green veggies are most full of good vitamins.
Veggie Facts• One bushel of corn can sweeten 400 cans of
soda.• Pumpkins used to be used to cure freckles.• Avocados are poisonous to birds.• The longest carrot ever was 17 feet long.• Onions make you cry because of sulfuric
compounds on the inside.• Ancient Greeks awarded sport
event winners with stalks of celery.
Fruits• Apples, Bananas, Oranges, Strawberries,
Cherries• Eat 2 cups every day.• Fruit juices do not always have enough fruit
juice in them to satisfy your daily amount.• Smoothies give you a healthy source of fruits
and even dairy.
Fruit Facts• Apples are made of 25% air, which is why they
can float.• Bananas are the worlds largest herb.• Orange trees can produce fruit for 100 years.• Grapes explode when you put them in the
microwave. Don’t try this at home.• Eating your eight servings of Fruit and veggies
a day can reduce your chance of stroke or heart attack by 30%.
Dairy
• Milk, Cheese, Yogurt, Ice Cream• Eat or drink 3 cups every day.• Fat-free is the best for your diet.• If you cannot drink lactose, you can buy
lactose-free milk or soy milk.• Even tasty Ice Cream is a good source of dairy,
It just contains a lot of sugars that are not great for a healthy diet.
• Milk Give you calcium that helps make your bones strong.

Proteins: Meats And Beans
• Chicken, Beef, Ham, Split Peas, Nuts• Eat 5 ½ oz. every day.• Baked and boiled meat is the best for you,
compared to fried foods, like McDonalds chicken nuggets.
• Peas, and Nuts are a good source of protein and do not taste bad either.
Protein!!!• 4oz. of meat reduces to 3oz. once cooked.• Fathers day is the biggest beef consuming
day of they year.• Never refreeze meat, it raises the
rancidity level.• Never eat any raw meat, cooking kills
many toxins.• Meat grinders and cutting boards should
be cleaned thoroughly after each use, bacteria will stay and contaminate.
• Beans contain 22% protein, more than meat and eggs.
• Kidney beans are nutritionally the best for us to eat.
