Agri-Smart’s Products Technology that improves the livelihoods and food security of subsistence farmers

1

BB2C is a social enterprise working

to improve the livelihoods and food

security of subsistence farmers. We

do this by offering profit making, and

labor saving agricultural solutions.

The Rudi Khmer Pump improves

vegetable production and water

management, providing vital access

to water for household use and

animal husbandry.

Our rice seeder ensures farmers

2

attain higher yields and improved

incomes. It does this by planting 1

hectare of rice in rows in less than 2

hours; a fraction of the time that it

takes to transplant seedlings. This

means farmers can improve the

results of their time-tested methods

with less intense labor.

with farmers to go from subsistence

to profit, please visit us at

Why choose the Rudi Khmer Pump? Benefits

1

Rudi Khmer Pump is a two-chamber suction pump operated manually by use of two treadle arms. It’s designed to allow customers access to ground and surface water.

This pump is durable, low cost and easy to maintain. It allows farmers to increase yields, irrigate crops easily as well as to care for animals. It also allows our customers to perform essential household duties such as maintaining and using toilets and washing clothes.

The pump is designed to get maximum water pressure with minimal effort. An individual who weighs 20 kg or more can operate the pump, which means children, the elderly, pregnant women, and some disabled people can access water.

The Rudi Khmer Pump is manufactured in Cambodia, which means all sales benefit local entrepreneurs.

Flow rate of the pump is 60 liters (16 gallons) per minute. It can pull water 60 meters (197 feet) from the source horizontally and from a depth of 7 meters (23 feet). It can deliver water to a distance of 200 meters (656 feet) away from the pump, and lift water 7 meters high (23 feet).

BB2C can also provide a custom sprinkler system capable of watering 100 square meters (1076 square feet) area of vegetables in 15 minutes.

Why choose our rice seeder? Benefits

1

The traditional rice planting method of

manual transplanting is effective, but

very labor intensive. As labor in rural

Cambodia is becoming scarce, many

farmers are forced to use less effective

planting methods such as throwing

(broadcasting) seeds into the field.

With Agri-Smart’s new Rice Seeder,

there is now a low labor way to achieve

the same results as farmers’ time tested

methods.

With this devise, a team of 2 can plant a

hectare in 2 hours. This is huge labor

savings compared to the 40 labor-days

required to manually transplant the

same field. The seeder uses air

pressure to seed the ground in rows,

which allows each plant enough space

to grow, and reduces by half the total

amount of seed used when compared

to current methods. Rows also allow for

tool-assisted and chemical-free

weeding, as well as more targeted

and efficient fertilizing. Furthermore,

crop yields using our machine meet

or exceed the results of transplanted

fields.

• Less labor intensive planting

• Improved crop yields

• Saves farmers money on seed and fertilizer

• Eliminates use of environmentally harmful herbicides

• Income generation and economic development

• Manufacturing in Cambodia means local businesses benefit

• Portable

The rice seeder can plant 12

rows of rice spaced 25cm (10in.)

apart, with an adjustable seed

density range of 50 to 200 seeds

per meter. The seeder can carry

20kg (44 lbs.) of seed, weighs 15

kg (33 lbs.), with a 11kg (24 lbs.)

motor. It’s 4 m (13 ft.) in length,

0.5 m (1.5 ft.) in width, and 1.2 (4

ft.) in height. The seeder’s

weight distribution makes it easy

to carry and operate.
