The line is the most basic element of art and can take many different forms including diagonal, zig-zagged, straight, wavy, or curved. This picture is a good example of lines because of the various forms you see in it. In this picture, you can see diagonal lines, straight lines, curved lines, bold/thick lines, thin lines, etc. These various lines help emphasize the pictures main focus, the dandelion. The dandelion is surrounded by many different lines that make the picture look complicated and crowded. Although the main focus of the picture does include many lines itself, it seems very simplistic and the most different which makes it stand out.

Shapes can be two dimensional enclosed shape using the length, width, lines, colours, values, textures, and space to make it more bold and defined. This picture is a good example of shape because you can see several octagons in the picture as well as a circle. These all stand out with the colour of the container, the lines within the lid, and the space in between.

Form can appear as a three dimensional shape with an enclosed volume. Form must have these three things in order to be considered as “form.” These include length, width, and height. This picture is a good example of form because of multiple 3D shapes you see. There are cubes and cylinders that you can see clearly which help make the picture look more lively.

Colour and value refer to the changes of base colours including light, mediums, dark areas, highlights, midtones, shadows, hue, intensity, and reflections. Colour can be complemented by all of these things depending on the variations and combinations of each thing. This picture is a good example of colour and value with the amount of light that was reflecting on everything to make everything look brighter, the transparency of the other bottles and the shadows behind each container.

Texture is the tactile quality of a surface or its representation of what the surface may feel like. The basic types of texture include actual, stimulated, and invented. This picture is a good example of texture with all the many layers and twists and turns of the grass blades. The smoothness, thickness and thinness of the grass blades also add onto the texture representing how it may be sharp or soft to be walking on.

This picture is a good example of space with everything you can see in the picture. All of the rings are the same thickness and about the same size making nothing particular stand out.

Movement is usually how the viewers eye moves throughout the entire picture. In some cases, artists and photographers combine different elements to create an illusions of actions. This picture is a good example of movement with the use of texture, light, angles, and space. The texture of the water makes the picture look smoother and more balanced out. The lighting of the background made everything dim except for where the water fountain is. The water fountain is extremely bright making it stand out. The angle of the shot improved this picture greatly. It was really close and at this perspective, you catch every detail of the water’s actions.

The effects of light are vitally important to when understanding and appreciating the three dimensional art forms of objects. Light and shadow define the forms of objects. This is a good example of light with the shadows and contrast of the lighting in the exit sign. The exit sign glows beneath all of the dim lighting and stands out.

If you drew imaginary lines on the picture, you’d see that it meets the bike at a certainpoint at least twice or possibly three times. These parts are the main focus and parts that you see of the picture and catch your attention.
