2. Closed Circuit

  • A closed circuit is a circuit without anyinterruptions , providing acontinuouspath through it. The current flows.

http://www.bing.com/images/search 3. Open Circuit

  • An open circuit is an incomplete circuit with an opening in its path. The current can not flow.

http://www.bing.com/images/search 4. My Homemade Flashlight

  • We made it by usingafluorescentlightbulb , 2 wires, and a battery. 5. The reason it worked because the circuit was not open, and the current could flow. 6. It glowed because theresistanceof the filament. This resistance causes the filament to get so hot that it glows. The air in the bulb is removed so the filament doesn't burn.

  • A light bulb stops burning because the gas runs out.

http:// workingwomen /images/search 8. How does a light bulb work?

  • For it to work, it has to to be in asocketor connected to 2 wires, and a battery. 9. It works because there are no open circuits because they are all closed, which therefore, it causes it to work. 10. But however, if there is any closed circuits, it won't work.

  • Thomas Edison invented the first light bulb.

HTTP :// workingwomen /images/search 12. Insulators!

  • Insulators are anymaterialthat doesn't allow electricity to pass through. 13. Some examples: 14. Work sheet 15. Tooth pick 16. Rubber band.

HTTP :// workingwomen /images/search 17. Conductors!

  • Conductors are anymaterialthat allows electricity to pass through. 18. Some examples: 19. Key 20. Brass fastener 21. Paper clip 22. nickel

HTTP :// workingwomen /images/search 23. Series Circuit Illustration!

  • A series circuit is a flash light bulb connected to 2 wires and the wires are connected to each side of the battery. 24. This is called a series circuit. You can use a series circuit if only want 1 light blub to shine. 25. Examples: 26. Night light 27. Mini lamp 28. Bedroom light

HTTP :// workingwomen /images/search 29. Parallel Circuit Illustration!

  • A parallel circuit has 2 flash light bulbs, 1 wire connecting the light bulbs together, and 2 wires from each bulb connected to a battery. 30. You can use a parallel circuit if you want more than 1 light blub to shine! 31. Examples: 32. TV 33. I pad 34. phone

HTTP :// workingwomen /images/search 35. Comparing!

  • Both Parallel circuit and Series circuit need batteries, wires, and light bulbs. Both can have 2 light bulbs.

http://www.bing.com/images/search 36. Contrasting!

  • The series circuit and the parallel circuit are different because parallel has 2 light bulbs and series has 1, and parallel has 4 wires and series has 2 wires. 37. I you take 1 light bulb out of the series circuit, the other one goes out. If you take a light bulb out of the parallel circuit, the other one stays on. This is because the series circuit only has 1 path through but parallel has 2.

38. How does static electricity work?

  • Positive and negative electrical chargesare separated from each other and are not moving, which creates static electricity.

HTTP :// workingwomen /images/search 39. How does lightning work?

  • Negativelycharged cloudscreates staticelectricity. When it gets hot, it strikes the ground. The ground has positive charges and so does the top clouds. The bottom arenegativecharge.

  • DON'T use the phone! 41. DON'T go ANYWHERE near a window! 42. DON'T wearjewelery ! 43. UN-plugANYTV ,charger , or ANYTHING the can get plugged in or your house will catch on fire!
