• The age of Exploration is also called the Commercial revolution because it ushered the trade between Asia, America, and Europe

• Eventually, England, France, and Netherlands will compete with Spain and Portugal in colonizing lands.

• Mercantilist economy was reinforced as joint-stock companies are formed like the English East India Company and Dutch East India Company. It also lead to rivalries at sea.

• The Commercial Revolution promotes a capitalist economy with the following characteristics
• Private ownership• Profit motive• Market economy- a way of living
that depended on buying and selling goods

• Europe became the center of world trade
• Shfited to northern Europe• Knowledge of the Earth increases• New kinds of food are grown: sugar,
rice, tea, cacao, and tobacco. From the America: potatoes, corn. Asian orange and banana. Animals like chickens, pigs, horses, and cattle
