With the new update, businesses can now easily administer promotions and contests on the timeline of their business page. Running promotions or contests on a business page allows the page owner to receive promotion opt ins or contest entries by asking users to post, comment, message or like a post on your page. Likes can also be used as a way of voting on a topic.

The only restrictions are that contests and promotions aren't to be used on personal timelines, so you can’t ask users to share content on their own timeline as a form of entry to a contest or promotion.
